@@Jack96993 Diana's vocal coach, iirc, once mentioned some concern that technology could not pick up Diana's unique voice as well as our own ears, so the better your equipment the better you'll hear her, I guess. I always cringe a bit when I see reactors with earplugs, or even on one ear plug ;) I came across Diana when I think she was about 17, maybe 16. It was the Wicked Game cover that I first saw. I was blown away.

Hello Wong Girls! Sorry for how long this is but there is a lot to give. This performance took place on September 25, 2021, when Diana Ankudinova was 18 years old and a contestant on a new Russian vocal competition show called the ShowMaskGoOn. This new vocal competition was televised over nine weeks, one episode per week, and Diana competed against 8 other professional singers who competed against each other and were also members of the judging panel that awarded points to each other based on each individual's performance. When not performing Diana was also a member of this judging panel. Each singer was required to perform a different song in each of the nine weeks, and they had to perform using different genres of music and different styles of music. One of the 9 songs Diana performed was her cover of the Elvis Presley classic, “Can’t Help Falling In Love”. This performance demonstrated that Diana Ankudinova has developed into what many vocal professionals say is a true contralto voice type, and for those in your audience that may not know, a contralto voice is the lowest kind of female voice, and a true contralto is very, very rare, and it is on full display during her song opening. Diana previously said she was not happy with her lack of a higher vocal range, and it was this lack that kept her out of the more prestigious Russian music academies. After several of the most prestigious academies rejected her, she decided along with her voice teacher to concentrate on improving her higher range which can be heard in this new competition with her interpretation of the Elvis Presley classic. First, to answer a very common question asked about her vocal range, because vocal range helps in defining a female singer's voice type. At 13 in 2017, her vocal range was measured from a low of D3 to a high of A5. During the Show Mask Go On performance, 4 years later her vocal range was again measured and now her functional range measures from a low of C3 (male tenor range) to a high of B♭5 (Mezzo Soprano range), this high range improvement is on full display during the middle part of this performance. But it's not just about how low or high she can go, it's the exceptional quality of her tone in her upper and lower registers, and her ability to transition seamlessly between the two. It's in the timbre, roundness, fullness, and depth of her voice, along with her ability to create and access an enormous amount of resonance that further define Diana as a Dramatic Contralto which is the deepest, darkest, and most powerful contralto voice type, and is the rarest of the rare contralto voice types is also on full display during the final section of her performance. So the question becomes how can such a young female singer achieve these low, rich, deep, resonant, and profound sounds? Without being able to actually scope her vocal tract while she is producing those low notes to really see what is or is not happening, the general conciseness of many vocal professionals is simply attributing Diana’s unique ability to her winning the genetic lottery. Diana was just born with her unique vocal anatomy. Diana’s vocal folds, (vocal cords), appear to be longer and thicker than the majority of female singers. Her larynx also appears to be larger, her oral cavity (mouth) is larger, plus her pharynx similarly appears to be longer than other female singers. It’s this combination of vocal anatomy that gives Diana the ability to produce the low, deep, rich, full sounds that along with her unique tone quality and her ability to access an enormous reservoir of resonance makes her stand out, but without actually scoping her vocal track, there is no way to be 100% sure. Diana is also a true polyphonic singer, which in itself is an extraordinary accomplishment for someone so young. A singer that has mastered this vocal technique can create one, sometimes two different tones at the same time which adds to the harmonic overtones and can make it sound like a synthesizer was added to her voice, or there is more than one voice singing. It is this polyphonic ability that some people believe Diana Ankudinova is using some form of electronic voice manipulation or pitch correction software to alter or adjust her sound. Others believe another person is singing off-stage in the background, or she is lip-syncing over previously recorded vocal tracks. There is no artificial electronic voice manipulation or any manipulation going on at all with Diana's voice. No one else is singing with or for her that is off stage, nor is she lip-syncing to a recorded vocal track. The other voices are vocal backing tracks used to fill in and round out the performance along with a musical score backing track. Diana Ankudinova and only Diana Ankudinova is singing “Can't Help Falling In Love”. To conclude, halfway through Diana’s performance, the judge on the top row who stands during her performance is the well-known Russian opera tenor, Yusif Eyvazov from Azerbaijan, who was invited to participate as a special guest judge for this inaugural vocal competition. Yusif Eyvazov is also married to world-famous opera soprano Anna Netrebko. At the end of Diana Ankudinova’s performance, she receives a standing ovation from all her fellow competitors and a fellow judge, Julia Parshuta, the blond woman standing in the center row dressed in red is a well-known contemporary Russian singer. She looks totally shocked at the end of Diana's performance and puts both hands on top of her head with a look of total surprise and bewilderment. Finally, on November 20, 2021. The 9-week competition concluded with Diana Ankudinova being declared the overall winner of the series of nine programs. Diana Ankudinova being awarded the most judging points was declared the overall winner.

Greetings from Scotland! Diana performed this when she was 18 years old towards the end of 2021. She is nothing less than a vocal phenomenon! So you can begin to understand what created this phenomenon, here is a short history of her sad, but very inspiring early childhood:- Diana is 19yo currently (20 at the end of May), but I've been following her since she was around 13yo. Diana is a natural Dramatic Contralto so the lower registers are her comfort zone but she now has a 4 octave range and it's increasing. She also naturally sings with polyphonic overtones so it sounds like many voices at the same time! Diana's birthmother had multiple miscarriages but when Diana came along, she seemed to hate her. She verbally and physically abused her, trying to drown her and belittle her. It all culminated when (at 3yo) she dragged her to a bus stop with a broken collarbone and abandoned her, saying "Survive if you can" A passing relative took her in but because she cried constantly (naturally with a broken collarbone) she took her to the authorities who removed Diana from her birthmothers care and placed her in an orphanage. For almost 2 years Diana never gave up hope and she knew that she was meant for something better. (This story is in her Wikipedia entry) Finally her new mother (Irina Ponik, who worked as a masseuse there occasionally) Signed her adoption papers and took her home. She vowed to pay Irina back for her kindness. Irina had a real struggle because Diana had obviously been badly affected by the experiences and at 5yo, she had a very bad stammer. It was recommended that she be taken for singing lessons to help this and immediately it was recognised that Diana had perfect pitch and an excellent ear for music and songs. 1 year later, at 6yo, Diana was performing solo on stage! This young unique phenomenon sang everywhere and anywhere she could, working constantly to earn money for the family who rescued her. Hello - thank you for your fine reaction. You just heard one of the most extraordinary voices in the world. Diana has a very rare voice. She is a contralto and she is also polyphonic, which means she can produce several tones at the same time. It makes her voice sound so full. Diana's background: Diana was born on May 31, 2003 in the Far East of Russia. She was severely abused as a small child and abandoned on the street by her birth mother in winter when she was only 3 years old with a broken collarbone. She was then taken to an orphanage where, after more than one year, she was adopted by Irina Ponik, a massage therapist. At the age of four and a half, Diana still could not speak properly. She also stuttered. Experts recommended that she take singing lessons to improve her general speaking and vocal skills. This is a TV show in Russia. There are 9 weeks with 9 shows and 9 well known artists. Diana is the youngest artist. They had to sing songs from 9 genres. The last TV show was on 20. November 2021. The 9 artists are also the judges for the other singer. And Diana (18 yo) won the overall competition of which Diana won 4 and took 2nd place once. She shocked the other singers with the first song. The Crow was her masterpiece in this competition, in my opinion. The judge who stands up is the great opera singer Yusif Eyvazov and the husband of Anna Netrebko, who is world famous. The 3 words I would use to describe Diana's voice are Magical, Mesmerizing and Hypnotic. It's like she's from another planet, female voice's of teenage girls just don't sound anything like her. It really sets her apart from all other teenage singer's. Her DEEP register is smooth as silk and her higher notes are perfect. She is an extremely talented singing artist. Diana has always been a bit of an outlier or a bit of a novelty. This performance not only put that notion to rest but also how much work she had to put in to achieve the range she has gained. I have never heard anyone ever taking that vocal quality into their head-voice. The other performers on that show agreed. The show is those people in those seats where that one guy stood up those are all the rest of the competition. So they all get to remark on the performance they just watched and also vote on the other singers. They took the song out of it's major key and moved it to it's minor key which gave it the ominous tone. It also enhanced the 'other worldly' feel the song has. Well here is the link. Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. This was a competition, and normally they put a time limit on how long the song is to accommodate all the others. And this video had the ending cut off, others allow it run longer to see what all the other judges (who themselves are contestants) have to say about it. Diana is a Dramatic Contralto ( lowest form of the female voice, and she is Polyphonic ( able to sings multiple notes at the same time, which makes it sound like there's more than one singer). This version is the way it was composed to be sung. It's not a silly sweet song, (as Elvis sang it) this is a song about an underage girl who falls in love with an older man, and even though she knows she shouldn't, She can't help falling in love. True story, Diana herself said in interviews that she always watches reactions from foreign countries and she’s always mesmerised by reactions 😂❤, so I’m 100% sure she saw yours as well ❤❤❤ That’s her real voice she’s officially contralto , its the lowest female voice type and the rarest in the whole world, and in this video she was 17/18 she sang this one live maybe 3/4 times only because it’s really hard and was rehearsed only for the showmaskgoon where she won 🥇 ShowMaskGoOn was a competition among 9 professional singers associated with 3 major vocal competitions that had appeared on the Russian NTV network. The 9 participants acted as judges and commented and voted on the performances of each of the other participants. Each of the 9 songs were to be from a different specified song classification, except for one song which was the choice of the performer. Each episode also had a guest judge who could vote and comment on the participants performances, but the guest judge did not perform a song. At the end of each episode, the participants and the guest judge had to rate the other participants on a scale of from 2 to 9 points. Participants could not vote on themselves. At the end of the final episode, Diana had accumulated 468 points, which was 25 points above the second-place finisher.
