If Diana ( one of my favorite female vocalists-second only to Lara Fabian- ) ever got together with Dimash ( best pop-op vocalist in the world) and performed a live concert tomorrow, they could easily fill a 50,000 venue with SRO. I would mortgage my house, to get a chance to see them perform live. I even have the tag line: “ the DI ( Ana) & DI (mash) extravaganza” Perhaps DI squared? Here are more at a younger age: At her age of 13 she sang a song in Spanish titled “ me voy” with such emotional impact is incredible She’s more than a singer. She’s an actress You will be in awe when you watch and hear her at age 14 on a riverboat cruise ship giving an hour long performance highlighted with her amazing performance mostly in English of a 1920s cabaret song by the famous composer Irving Berlin called “ Puttin On The Ritz” . Not only does she kill it with her vocal electrifying expressions and dance moves but I will not spoil the SURPRISE that will knock you off your chair ( a 12 second teaser she gives the audience that the late great Fred Astaire would be smiling down on her from heaven). She also performed “ Besame Mucho “ & “ Feeling Good” aboard the same ship. ship. Also when she won her “you are super” contest she performed a song written by Lara Fabian titled “ Tomorrow Is A Lie” accompanied on the piano by the famous composer Igor. She sings it in English and the meaning of this song is so spiritual to me: “ only here and now... Tomorrow is a Lie “ ( all that exists is the next moment). And finally, I hope you someday react to her first Russian Voice appearance prior to “ You Are Super” where the chairs were traditionally turned backward where the judges could not see the performer. Diana gave an incredible masterful tour de force on Yodeling but when it was over not one judge Turned Their Chairs. In any other Voice kids contest around the world all 4 chairs would have turned within the first minute. But as soon as these Russian judges turned after it was finished , the audience gave Diana a 5 minute Standing Ovation ( even the judges clapped and gave her a standing ovation). It was later revealed that the contest was “ fixed” and the winner was already predetermined. Caused a corrupt scandal! And if you continue to watch the judges reaction ( in Russian) about near the end they ask Diana to perform another song and she KILLS IT ( a French song). And the woman judge felt so guilty and shameful that after Diana finished the French song , not only did she bury her face and cover it with her arms but also invited Diana to go on stage with her a few days later when the woman judge was giving a concert and Diana sang a song. Your astonishment is not exceptional! Diana uses many vocal techniques rarely used in pop music (like overtones, yodel, and some from classical singing....). The one that seems to amaze people the most is polyphonic voice. The root notes are enriched with powerful harmonics which can give the impression that there are several overlapping voices or an artificial effect which gives this result. This technique is used in Slavic folk music, like Bulgarian vocal groups or artists like Pelageya, the Russian folk diva. I cannot tell you exactly how these artists achieve this result, I was just told that it is linked to the simultaneous use of the different resonators of the human body and that such a mastery of the voice and of the breath with such a fluidity requires years of work, Diana has been singing on stage and has been taking singing and performing arts lessons since the age of 6! This broadcast is "You're Great!" ("You are Super"), a song contest reserved for children who have had a difficult start in life. This is the case of Diana who was mistreated and ended up in an orphanage at 3 years old. In this shows Diana is directing, arranging and preparing her performances herself. She's a real creator. The song rechenka or little river, is a Russian folk song, even before Christianity, that an orphan girl comes to the river and prays to the spirits of nature. The song is about the fact that my mother, father and brothers were killed by the enemies, there is no one to take care of her. There are about 30 variants of this song, but the basis of the content of each of the variants is the sad appeals of the orphan bride to her deceased parents, asking them for "blessings" and help for marriage, for a family to strangers. There are other versions of this song, where the heroine appeals to her brothers, and even to her parents, with a call to return to earth in the form of a bird to her native home. At the end of the song, the girl sails away to a strange tribe, to a strange family. This song appeared before 900 AD, before the Russians sailed to conquer Constantinople and converted to Christianity. The roots of the song are in pagan Russia, it is a very, very old folk folklore. And since Diana is an orphan herself, this topic is very close to her. When Diana sang this song, she was only 14 years old.
