This song was written by the Israeli artist Yasmin Levy and appeared on Yasmin's 2005 album "La Juderia". The album relates back to the Spanish Jews expulsion from Spain in the late 15th century. As I have the CD, Yasmin notes : "With this album, I am proud to combine the two cultures of Ladino and Flamenco while mixing in Middle Eastern influences". I think the lyrics could be a metaphor for the Jews leaving Spain. Ladino was the dialect of Spanish spoken by the Jewish population of Spain derived from Old Spanish with elements of other Iberian languages as well as Hebrew and Arabic. Most speakers now live in either Turkey or Israel.

I love her vocal control and her ability to just switch into a different language. Her grandmother and mother loves this one. So, during the introduction she mentions that it was a surprise for them. She has some Amazing Originals but not many reactors will review them. I would encourage you to view her Song “The Closest Soul”. I always thought that there was a real love, but an insurmountable incompatibility.
