In all the various keys that Diana sings it is this delicate, melodic sound that is my favorite. With the steady heartbeat of the song, you want it to go on longer and it makes you yearn for more after it ends. One of the last songs to dance to before the club closes its doors, you are both tired after a long and wonderful evening dancing together and just want to fall into each others embrace, ah the perfect song to end the evening, as you said its a sad song but it makes you want to dance.

Thanks for your reaction. Is it possible that she is referring to her work as an independent, avoiding professional agents? She feels some of the droplets, but the willow is far from the spring. She now has a hard time relating to the dreams from her barefoot summer, when she may have listened to words that no longer matter, when the willow was closer to the pond. Her heart is changing, yes, and the taggers, those who mark the trees for cutting, have left damage on the trunk. Is a noticeable change about to occur, or is she merely reflecting on the simple wonders of her youth? There are so many ways to interpret the lyrics. She is indeed a fine poet.

There is a kind of mistranslation on the part that confused you a more proper translation is like this: Droplets of rain fell on my shoulders Meetings with friends have lost importance We valued our carved markings Carvings on a tree trunk, small impairments The "tagger" lyrics refer to that, when people leave their marks on the trees, they leave their tag/mark. As for the word "Rib cage", i don't understand why they keep translating it as such they have done this before on another song of hers, just use the word chest... "inside the chest a new heart is blossoming" There... it sounds wonderful. Anyways i am glad that you liked it, as we talk this song is rising in popularity, within 10 days it raised to Diana's 3rd most popular song on the digital platforms and it keeps going up. The reason why i advised you to also watch her live version was precisely because it has no whoop whoop sounds and the whole song becomes way more spiritual in nature, it is perfect for meditation. I am glad that Diana decided to go in a mix of pop/Folk path because this is so her and no one does this better, more are coming since she is on the way to release her second album. That poor old Diana, so far from her youth. I hope she still has a few beautiful weeks left. Regarding the willow tree, I believe everyone knows that its drooping branches evoke a weeping appearance, symbolizing sadness, mourning, loss or the separation of loved ones. But it is also a tree that grows near water, making it a symbol of resilience and renewed life... unless, as in this song, it is so far from the source. Yet, the willow can represent a quiet hope or a promise of renewal after hardship (the new heart within the cradle of the chest). And as you mentioned, the willow is Diana, for it is associated with women, their pain or their patience in the face of trials. It was a stunning music video, which, because of the veil Diana wore - a major symbol of femininity - reminded me of two others, also very beautiful : the first by Dai Qing Tana ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoTVl2uFr75jsLs ) and the second by Ali ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3iagZVtiqqGgas ). Diana recently made a fun video joking about her haters, and musically she used a parody of that silly "Gagnam Style" video that went viral some years ago... her fans loved that fun side of hers, as we're all aware of the darkness and heavy trauma of her younger days, music always was and always will be a form of therapy and healing for Diana... maybe that "Whoop" sound was a nod to her viral Gagnam Style parody... Thank you for your reaction. I particularly liked your explanation of the lyric as a new heart growing in the cradle of the chest. I'm sure you agree that Diana's lyrics are open to interpretation on multiple levels. For me the identification of the singer with the willow far from the spring is also the identification of Diana born in a harsh home, far from love. And the marks on the tree left by the careless taggers are the physical scars she has mentioned that are still on her body inflicted by her birth mother or her house guests. Of course, at another level, the taggers' marks are also the carvings of now parted lovers left in the trunk of a tree. That's metaphors for you.

Greetings from Scotland! Thank you for your interpretation of this beautiful song, Aleks! I struggled over the meaning behind the lyrics, especially the use of so many metaphors. (It's a Western thing I guess?) However, it is now much clearer for me. Diana loves to write songs which allow the listener some leeway in interpretation, after all, we are all different with different perspectives and Diana appreciates that. I believe this is a really well composed fusion between the very old Slavic singing style called "White song or White voice" blended well with the more modern "pop" styles. The "whoop" at the end threw me too at first, but the more I listen to this song, the more understand it's inclusion. Diana has been searching for a style that attracts the younger listeners and I think this will achieve that. Anyway, I'll stop blethering and let you get on with your day/evening!
