You know, I'm quite sure you'll be getting comments about what this song is about - about how this is about an orphaned bride who would soon be married off into some miserable marriage, about how she is actually calling out to her dead mother to ask for blessings, about how the river is actually the boundary between the living and the dead, etc. At the end of the day though, I also believe you are right about the river being about life, about how we need to flow along with it, and about how the river (and life) is not here to cradle us or do us any favours cause it just is. Not-so-fun-fact: Diana also does not have any biological parents raising her. She's an abandoned kid (and thank goodness she was eventually abandoned instead - her mom actually wanted to kill her). So when she was singing about how she does not have a mother or father in this song, the rest of the lyrics hit me really hard. Yes, I cried when I realised where she was drawing her pain from in order to sing this song...... and I'm a guy.

Diana has good subtitles on this song if you search for a version on her official KZbin account. A world class performance by a 14 year old girl. Amazing stuff. #4 should be her most viewed KZbin song, Dernière danse. It has 99 Million + views on the NTV version alone but I'd suggest you take one off of her official site since its in French and Diana provides good working English subtitles to all her uploads and she doesn't block aggressively like NTV does. Human (English) or her newly released original single Happiness (Russian) are also excellent choices. All three of these songs are spectacular and all very different.
