'Rechenka' is from an old traditional folk tale about an orphaned girl who is supposed to marry someone she doesn't love, so she goes to the river (the border between the living and the dead) to talk to her mother and ask for her advice. Beautiful and sad and haunting! Diana > Rechenka, Blizzard, Human, ++. 15 here, 14 in Rechenka (Little River) beyond mesmerizing. Rechenka is derived from Russian folk songs about an orphan girl who comes to the river, border between the living and dead, to ask blessings from her deceased mother while being given away to the unloved. Diana was abused and nearly killed by her birth mother, brought to an orphanage speechless at 4, learned to sing, was adopted, and performed (won) on a show for disadvantaged youth called "You Are Super, " which makes her performance of Rechenka even more poignant. If you are interested in accomplished and unusual vocalists then, assuming that progressive metal is a genre you cover, you could try listening to a band called Jinjer. Their vocalist (Tatiana) is very impressive. You could try "Pisces" for the shock factor or just go for "Teacher, Teacher" for her full range. Another good starting point is "I Speak Astronomy", lovely video too. Regards from the UK.

The bald gentleman that rang in last was famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy. He totally believed in Diana, providing a place for her to stay and continue her music studies. Rechenka would definitely be a good second adventure. Over the last few years he has collaborated with another young singer, Dimash Kudaibergen, from Kazakhstan, who sings in 12 languages and, just possibly, is the best singer in the world. One of her best perfomances is Rechenka ['retʃenkə] (little river). Here's the link kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWanqKJqhrt_p9U It's an old ritual Russian folk song of an orphan bride. According to ancient Russian traditions river was considered the boundary between the world of the living and the dead. She approaches the river and asks for the blessing of marriage, and says that there are many people at home, but there is no father and mother. You hear Diana singing in a whisper, these are the words of the deceased mother of the bride. Then the girl is crying. In Russia, at weddings they sang songs of mourning to scare away evil spirits, thus the marriage of a young couple was happy. Such kind of songs were called “weeping.” The figures behind Diana are spirits of water and forest.
