Brava! Bravo! Well done. My favorite done darn well. Glad I am but a novice and can enjoy this without having to make tiny critiques. The effort and soul that goes into EVERY singer needs to be applauded whether they be at the Met or community playhouse-Good job all of you!

"Tales of Hoffmann", I think, is the most interesting opera in the world. Unlike other operas, this one has billions of versions and shapes, and one can create his very own version completely and change it as he likes. My greatest dream is to create my very own version of "Tales of Hoffmann".

This is one of the most dramatic scenes of the entire opera and it must be taken to the limit which happens here. I wouldn´t have guessed that Damrau could be convincing as Antonia but she´s absolutely stunning

It is said that in Germany , Hoffman's writings were hugely influential on surrealism. And it cohks be argued that the pinnacle of surrealism in German film is the Cabinet of Dr Caligari So, its a nice full circle that this production staging is a call back to movie which is the decendant of the man whose works upob which this opera is based. Well done

its so sad that in the most powerful and beautiful moment of the antonia part, the orchestra is too fast so that the voices are totally blurred. and after that, everything happening on the scene is so artificial… reminds me of puppet theater. i don't believe anything they're singing/doing/feeling.
@Altonahh108 жыл бұрын
Oh, I disagree completely. The turmoil and drama happen in Hoffmann´s head only. And he is going crazy about what happens. So the music must explode, in my opinion, the singing just adds to it :-)
