I'm deeply ashamed that I couldn't do this song yet. Now that I hear it from Diana, I'm also going to listen to it from Bob Dylan. I hear it for the first time from Diana and this song immediately touches my soul. beautiful voice

Wow. I'm a lifelong Dylan fan (to put it mildly) :-), but every once in awhile, someone does a cover that brings a song from his vast catalog a song that wasn't necessarily one of my top favorites -- and makes it so. Thank you so much Diana for this wonderful interpretation. I can't stop listening, again and again.

I was just listening to the Dylan album with this song, the only one on there that he wrote the words as well as the music for, and I had to stop and play it again. Then I was Googling it and came across this brand-new rendition. It's a heartbreakingly beautiful song, and Diana Krall does it justice.

I am your faithful friend. The song could be viewed undoubtedly as a pop or as a country song, but your interpretation makes it a jazz song. And it is an enthusiastic compliment!

Such a tender, thoughtful rendition. If there are no objections, am including the lyrics for all to enjoy. How long can I stay in this nowhere café 'Fore night turns into day I wonder why I'm so frightened of dawn All I have and all I know Is this dream of you Which keeps me living on There's a moment when all old things Become new again But that moment might have been here and gone All I have and all I know Is this dream of you Which keeps me living on I look away, but I keep seeing it I don't want to believe, but I keep believing it Shadows dance upon the wall Shadows that seem to know it all Am I too blind to see? Is my heart playing tricks on me? Too late to stop now even though all my friends are gone All I have and all I know Is this dream of you Which keeps me living on Everything I touch seems to disappear Everywhere I turn you are always here I'll run this race until my earthly death I'll defend this place with my dying breath From a cheerless room in a curtained gloom I saw a star from heaven fall I turned and looked again but it was gone All I have and all I know Is this dream of you Which keeps me living on

Listening to Diana's soulful lover's voice makes me feel almost as good as watching the neighborhood possum on my security camera, a straggly little fellow, eating my leftover sliced London broil roast. He uses his little hands to hold the meat so, maximum adorability. He also likes pasta Bolognese and Vienna sausage in case you're interested. I'm buying Diana's newest CD to help me with mixing decisions for my own never-to-be known album. Tip: If you have a mail slot in the door learn to bark through it when fat neighborhood cats try to take Pogo's dinner. But listening to Diana's close-enough-to-touch style is becoming my second favorite cup of tea. And when you listen to her album, if you, like me, feel as though she's near enough to touch, well, take a number.

Definitely a cover on par with Adele’s. This is a highlight from Together Through Life - always thought the lyrics were sublime and deeply sad. Dylan’s word game here strong as any point in his career - “curtained gloom”.
@slinkyredfoot3 жыл бұрын
On the official Dylan lyric site instead of “all my tears are gone” it’s “all my friends are gone.” That idea is a bit more potent.

Bob Dylan himself did not sing so well ... Beautiful !!!
@petersderquist43414 ай бұрын
Canadians often do it better. They are somewhat like Europeans, but why does she never sing in French? That would serve her country credit. When she is so famous, she should sometimes do that. She could sing Chaque Brell and do it Well.
