I read an interview with Lionel Richie recently in which he said that one of the greatest career regrets he has is that he did not work more with Ms. Ross. He spoke of having confidence that he had written a good song, but being overwhelmed when they took an afternoon out of both their busy tour schedules to record the song by what she brought to the song with her interpretation & what her performance inspired in him. This was the only time they ever performed the song publicly & he counts it as one his carrier's greatest moments. They are both so talented & you can see how enthralled he is with her vocals & how thrilled she is to share such a great song with its writer. It is a breathtaking moment & just from this performance, anyone can see why these two artists became & remain superstars!

The fact they lost the Oscar that year is the biggest upset in Oscar history. They were straight robbed. Lionel should have two Oscars for best song. Smh but of course those white men making the decisions weren’t going to give him two very deserving Oscars. I love anything Lionel Richie. I wasn’t blown away by Diana Ross.i hated how she took over the song and sang louder and stronger so that she overblown. It doesn’t show it here but, on my CD I can’t even him for her over singing. She went on to perform this song as a single for many appearances. She wasn’t a gracious singer at all. Just my opinion okay.
