What I find so helpful, besides your amazing art and always pleasurable conversation, is how you manage to give such interesting titles to each of your videos. This makes it so much easier to search on my phone for the video playing on my TV so that I can take a reference snap shot. Finally finished the two cross stitch Christmas stockings and I’m happy to be painting again, until January when I’ll be back to cross stitch for the last two Christmas stockings. 😊. Thanks for all you do, Diane!

Dear Diane, so sorry about your migraine. I hope that at this hour, it is gone. You are funny, you were quite discombulated some time ago when your husband was gone and now, you are having trouble adjusting to him being here again. Thank you for educating us about great art supplies company. I think that you are great. You are an ambassador for sharing with us of these wonderful companies and people. I am a sucker for honest companies that help the regular folk. So, I bought a set of colors, the Spring colors because I love different pinks. Sorry, I don't watch as many of your videos as I did before. Nowadays, when I am not taking care of my mother in law, I am painting.... everything from picture frames to lampshades, trays, actual pictures... you name it. Painting or decoupaging. That's my passion. I paint either with chalk paints (on furniture as i don't have to paint as many times to get the color on in my designs), acrylics, hardware stores paints and, of course, thanks to you, I paint with watercolors now as well. By the way, I only have 3 cats now (I might have shared that my baby boy was killed a few months ago), but when I paint, my girl cat insists on sitting wherever I work, smack in the middle of my work. You don't seem to have this problem with your cats. Or, do you? Anyway, glad that you are having fun and that you are sharing yourself and teaching us how to have fun. Feel better. Hugs, Eve

Hi Eve, I think you’ve started watching again since you wrote this comment or am I wrong? No my cats don’t sit on my work, I don’t think they like art! Sorry to hear about your loss, we worry about ours suffering similarly, was he in an accident? Luckily we don’t have a lot of traffic but sometimes that can be worse as they are taken unawares, we have lost several to cars. But so far so good with the current five! Now pouring with rain so they will be coming in to shelter soon, bringing their muddy paws to walk over me! Sending love and thanks for your kind comments xxx

Diane, Your videos have given me the freedom to enjoy the art I make now! You've helped me to not try to measure up to other people's expectations (including my own) and to know that whatever I'm working on (even if it appears to be a failure) is actually on the way to becoming a really unique picture and a pleasant surprise. You've helped me unlock my creativity and to not seek perfection the way I used to look at it! Thank You!!!!! Thanks for being you!!!!!

Same here. I've struggled to get started because I'm not where I want to be. Diane's videos have inspired me to grab that pack of "cheep" paper and paint and 'splash around'. I feel like I'm building a portfolio of experience and an understandingof color. I have a better understanding of the medium, colors, techniques, what works what doesn't work. I have more fun and more importantly on painting more often.

Hi Sherry and thanks so much for your comment, much appreciated. I always remember a friend from years ago who used to paint chickens. She swore they were stupid and useless, but I loved them and was thrilled when she gave me one, which I framed. It doesn’t matter what we think. It’s been made for a reason. Happy painting!

Inspiring as always! Thank you for the videos especially when you aren't feeling up to snuff. Also, it seems the older I get the more foods I dare not consume----eggs, gluten, white foods, tomatoes, and green peppers. What's up with that? I thought at this stage of life I might be able to indulge in things like blueberry pie, brownies, and my favorite mashed potatoes! I drink Tulsi tea for anxiety and panic attacks, and it is very helpful just in case you were looking for some relief. All the best to you!

That’s very interesting Diane about the tea. I hadn’t heard of that type of tea, I will try it. I am always looking for something to drink which agrees with me. I can’t tolerate what they put in teabags now, they make me cough. Tamsin gets catarrh from teabags and some preservatives. I have been gluten free for years and there’s a long list of things I can’t touch too. Strange, isn’t it. I always thought I was indestructible until I wasn’t!!!

You may have heard of Posca pens? They are acrylic paint pens. The white it is vibrant and steady. I have my original set with 0.7 tips I think, but then I discovered the medium tips too and they are great for mark making as well. Amazon has them, but I don't know the price now as I got mine 7 yrs. ago and they are still going strong. You do have to shake them a bit and prime them too, but then unless you don't use them for a long while they hardly need any shaking. I used a couple the other day and they didn't need shaking even after a couple of weeks. It's not like you have to shake hard once primed either. Well, that's enough of that.ha! I love mine and always have black and white ones on hand though I've actually never run out of paint! I don't use them a lot though, but they come in so handy. The colors all show up so well as they are a little thicker than a pen. Sorry to go on so much. I love making mandalas. I do notice that if I make mine too detailed that towards the end I tend to go too fast (and thereby a bit sloppy), but they are good fun. I've never tried to make part of it in watercolor and that sounds like much fun. I will try that. Oh! I see you have watercolor pens, I'd forgotten. Now, all of my overdone blathering about Posca's is truly for naught. I even have watercolor pens but didn't even think of them. Now, I believe they would better suit if in watercolor. I love all of your mandalas. I gravitate to bright colors and will try to paint with my Owin or Mission Gold palette as both are very vibrant. I love your "conversations" with us. It's so fun and I sure can relate about husband's coming home after a long trip. Though I'm thrilled to see mine, it does throw me off my game a lot. What was your husband doing (the noises)? Whew, I was glad that he was willing to forego the noise for the remainder of your painting. It's similar when mine decides to vacuum right under my nose. Ugh. Haha. Loved your ending endearments to all of us. So sweet. I know we could talk for hours were we next door to you. I'm close to your age and we share many interests like books such as Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, one of my favorite lighthearted books. And I love poetry and have written a notebook full of them especially when we moved to Colorado. I was blue initially, but when we finally moved into the Mountains at 9000' I was no longer blue, got a great job, made a gaggle of friends, and breathed in fresh air every day. Now we're in sweltering in AZ at 100F and yesterday it was 110!! I'm not a fan. Give me England. I know it rains a lot there, but unless I have errands that mean I'm outdoors a lot, I love it. Just get some rubber boots and you're fine, usually. Even though I've not been there, I pine after a cozy English cottage and the gorgeous landscapes in the country (which is where I'd like to be). They have waterways, Ocean. lakes, and so many wonderful walkways. I used to wake up every morning at 6am, in Colorado, take an hour's walk in the forest (I'd see Elk, Coyote, and their babies), shower afterwards and head to work. I was a nurse supervisor and had both my own patients (though limited to 2) and admit all of our new patients, go on supervisory visits with my nurses, do mountains of paperwork and calls all day (unless out with patients, etc), then go home and do some watercolor painting. I painted about 10 cards before Nurse's week. It's funny that I painted a cottage and pigs for my boss cuz she had some. I'm done with this book. Love you Diane. XOXOJANE Hope my ramble didn't cause you to sleep for hours. Ha.

Hi Jane and thanks so much for your lovely ramble through the past and the countryside you’ve known. Sorry for the delay in replying, but I did have a very large number of comments to reply to after I made a plea to everyone to comment and persuade KZbin to show us more often - and I think it has worked, by the way! To answer your points, I have one Posca pen but I am not sure it works very well as I do struggle to get the ink to flow. I suppose there are always some faulty ones around. It does write nicely on shiny surfaces though, which is great! The noise Magdy was making was him working to repair the heater/ac unit which had broken while he was in Egypt! Regarding the great outdoors, it isn’t what it used to be, and nor am I, as I do have physical limitations which I can’t do much to repair, and can’t go on long hikes because of it, although in any case the weather is so difficult - no matter where you live nowadays it seems it’s either too hot or too wet or burning to the ground. So much sadness out there, I tend to stay in my memories a lot. My husband doesn’t seem to have much of a relationship with nature and he doesn’t miss what’s gone, he is a city boy at heart, born in Cairo, so all he regrets is the size to which that city has grown, but it’s still a city, always was and always will be. I must do some work, I hope you see this message and look forward to your next comment, sending love, Diane xxx

Lovely. Very relaxing watching you paint. The colours are beautiful. Cool here in the south of England which suits me fine. Anything above 20c and I start to panic. I hate hot weather. We just need some rain, it has been so dry. It passes us by and shoots up to the North. My plants are looking very sad, even though I give them all the grey water I can, it is not the same as rain. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Lynne and thanks for your kind wishes. I know what you mean about southern England, I’m from Kent and it has got progressively drier over my lifetime. Parts of East Kent now look like France, quite strange! And no, there’s nothing to make up for the loss of rainfall. Our plants here in France look so sad when it doesn’t rain, and so does the soil, all the little animals living in the ground all go further underground and it turns to dust!

I agree, the Signo white pen is the best I have tired also. I like to use Dr. PH Martin’s Bleed proof white for some paintings. It is very thick but can be thinned. Opaque of course and won’t rub off. About $10 per tiny jar.

Beautiful! It’s magical watching you turn blobs of paint into such beautiful art! Always look forward to my evening date with you😀Greetings from the south of Spain which is unbearably hot! Btw it’s lovely to hear the birds singing in the background. Lovely art and the sounds of nature - perfect. Take care and God bless.

Lovely painting there! Sorry to hear of yr migraine! I had a nephew who suffered from them as well when he ate eggs. Poor little guy would sleep on the bathroom floor because of the terrible nausea he’d have with the headache! My sister finally put two and two together and stopped fixing him eggs for breakfast! Hope you are feeling better soon….do I hear a bird in the background? A lovely budgie or two?

Sorry to hear that about your nephew, how miserable he must have been 😢. I haven’t heard of anyone else who was allergic to eggs in that way - thanks for sharing! I won’t be eating any more eggs!

I find watching you paint very relaxing. So beautiful and free flowing. I watch and say i can do that until I sit in front a blank paper and freeze. I'm getting better and love your inspiration. I love the easygoing way you just talk as you paint. Makes it more like a conversation between friends than a lesson.

These doodles are gorgeous. my daughter also gets panic and anxiety and she’s taken up painting, of sorts, even tho all she can do right now is put down circles and make her own color mixes. very calming stuff!

Yes, I, too, find it calming. Most of what I do is swatching and color mixing, and I play with different papers. Sometimes I follow along on a video to try different techniques. It's all very educational, but mostly calming.

I love this doodle exercise and seeing your mandalas. I tend to want everything aligned and perfect, so thanks for showing that mandalas can be beautiful without being perfectly symmetrical! Now, I need to go back and watch the video where you painted the larger ones you shared for your inspiration on the smaller circle doodles.

Hi Mel, sorry for the delay in replying to this message, pressure of work! Thanks so much for your kind words, much appreciated, and it’s great to have you as a neighbour, wish you really did live next door! Imagine, if I’d not left Devon we might have been able to meet! There’s another sunflower painting now, a little landscape which you might enjoy. I couldn’t just stop at one it seems! Thanks so much again for being there, love, Diane xxx

Hi Diane, I watch a lot of your videos on youtube, but I often watch on a large TV in my craft room. With the TV, I can "like" a video, but am unable to leave a comment which is so annoying at times! lol Anyway, I enjoy your videos and watch you quite often. I love this one, especially the colors! I will figure out a way to rig my system to make it easier to "engage" 🤗Thank you Diane!
