Dearest Diane, you have wowed me again with this gorgeous background technique and the fix for symmetrical butterfly wings! One of my favorite painting’s that I’ve done from watching a previous piece of yours, is the 3 butterflies, like you explained towards the end, one over the next. It turned out great, and now you’ve inspired me to try many more, thank you sweet lady!!! I’ve seen you use the ever shrinking colored pencil in several tutorials, and decided I need to gift myself w/one the next time I save up a little mad money, heehee 😉 In effort to keep this short, bahaha…I’ll say BIG ty, and enjoy the rest of your weekend!!! (HUGS to Lotti sp?, and apologies for not knowing your other babies name…but love to you all) xx Gratefully, Jules 💜🦋✨

Wow the background turned out gorgeous. I was having a hard time watching this thinking I could not do this with my Daniel smith or my handmade Mashawatercolors or 31purplefish watercolors . I definitely need to buy cheaper watercolors to try this . Or maybe try this when I’m about wash or clean off my palette. It hurt my heart to see the paint wasted on the paper towel but it’s truly gorgeous technique.
@DianeAntoneStudio14 сағат бұрын
Hi Regina, thanks so much for your comment! As someone said recently, The only wasted paint is the paint not used! Don’t feel bad about it. Also I have supplies of inexpensive paint which can be used just as easily for this technique - Meeden is ideal.

How do you decide to do the background first or after?
@tarakennedy3041Күн бұрын
This piece stopped me in my scrolling tracks! Beautiful. Can you tell me are you saying that Bahong is the same as Meeden or just that they are both 100 cotton? Thanks! I just purchased Meeden and so far like it. I did use your code, so thank you!.
@cindyhorton6980Күн бұрын
I thought I'd speak up cause I've heard Diane say they are the same paper and they are both 100% cotton! 🙂
@DianeAntoneStudio23 сағат бұрын
Yes, it is the same paper apparently. I always hesitate to say anything categorically, but it was.Meeden themselves who sent me the Academy paper which has a different cover to the block from their own branded paper. My contact at.Meeden told me that it’s the exact same paper. Certainly as far as I can tell it is no different. Thanks for enjoying the video and I’m so glad that you are going to give it a try!
@debifrank2294Күн бұрын
Lovely instruction as always Diane! Thank you! I am now very curious after your comment on the paper… What is your inside scoop about the Bao Hong paper being the same as Meeden? Are they made in the same factory with the same cotton products?
@DianeAntoneStudio23 сағат бұрын
Yes, that’s what my contact at Meeden told me. You will find the same paper that I used yesterday on the Meeden website. But only in some sizes. They switched over the paper covers a while back to their own branded cover.
