My only gripe is keygrab being nerfed. I understand why it can't be a command grab like before lmao. But they gave her the craziest high/lows. AND INFINITE BLOOD PACKS. Bruh, imagine if +R aba had infinite bloodpacks and no health loss on hit/block. My only guess, is that yes, right now, aba is the secret best character in the game, she's not even close to being cracked open yet. But we all know slayer is next and if they go the route they seem be going with these legacy characters.....well, I'm not a Slayer main (Johnny buoys in the house), But it will be super exciting to see the dandy man himself back in action hitting those pilebunkers and crosswise heels...just spamming mappa in neutral...hitting those 6k/[k]s..yeah...we all know slayer will be pretty top tier. Also, why would you ever use her step dash in neutral? What's the recovery on her command dash ?

While it's still an apt comparison, I absolutely hate that people just completely forget that Nago got *significantly* buffed in between launch and when people "figured him out." He was still underrated, but it's not nearly the story of "misunderstood secret top tier" people always sell it as. His blood management WAS too punishing at launch, and he only started taking off once he got several buffs to his methods of lowering the blood guage.

I don't know if it's even possible to switch to the mentality but you know a series that would be really cool to see? Like a reverse of the Master series, where you either coach someone who's never played a fighting game before or do a self-imposed challenge to emulate it (like WinterStarcraft doing low APM challenges and explaining the thought processes as he goes). So something like two basic combos and a couple of hit-confirm moves and maybe slowly adding in more. I'm sure I'm not the only one who just keeps trying to get into these games and gets overwhelmed (then combo'd to the wall in every match online, which is really not-great for wanting to continue trying).

Hey Diaphone! I hit celestial last night for the first time and I give a huge credit to you and your videos! My buddy introduced me to the game around season 2 and I foolishly started playing with zato. I had small spurt when I would play the game, then drop it for a while, and come back. But this time around zato was nerfed, and it lowkey was a blessing in disguise, because it set me on a "new main" spirit quest from pot > may > elphelt > bedman where I learned way more about the core mechanics of the game instead of wasting time trying to get zato tech down. Your bedman videos were massive for my improvement and he (or she or it?) is officially my new main. Not only that, but I've now surpassed the friend that introduced me to ggst! Anyways thanks for the help and enjoy the new subscriber!

abas gonna be really good. high high health & once people get down using counter safely as possible and optimizing switching in & out of moroha instead of always letting it run out but using it to explode, stay out the corner & overall press the opponent (youre getting meter). lil slow to start but she's super fun

I barely managed top8 in yesterday's 105 man SaltyEU bracket with just A.B.A, I think she has tools in every MU (except Asuka). The parry especially is super powerful, but somewhat awkward to use due to the relatively long startup. She has tools for most situations, but her defense is incredibly poor against most of the top tier monsters and you really have to use the universal defensive mechanics to overcome that. I think that 236S followup karacanceled into the projectile super is incredibly strong in install btw, it's gapless into +44 guard break, loopable in positive bonus and costs a lot of bar to FD to avoid chip.

~5:20 On the jump loop combos, I think that those are very spacing-dependent. They are not very rage-efficient, and deal relatively little damage as well. But they have more corner carry than the Danzai routes. Rather than it being the future of the character, I think that the ideal routing will depend completely on where you are on the screen.

Feast and famine characters NEED to maximize their reward during the feast. So yeah combos or just basic rudimentary setups is what I find most important with Aba since her neutral is fairly straightforward. Stopping myself from keeping the opponent a mile away when my gauge runs out is the most important thing lmao

Airdash, Intertwine and tilt, and heed and haul are great movement options in base form. Her H.s, 2.k, and 2.p (anti-air), and vertical jump dust (great for going into bonding and dissolving) are amazing. The fact that her dragon punch beats supers is dumb. She can gain meter at a distance from zoners using astonishment which again is ridiculous. Most of her attacks advance her forward some as well. I LOVE her mechanics as a defensive/poking style player.

If you haven’t tried drift brc fast cancel key grab in the air, do yourself a favor and try it, it’s a hilarious approach option in normal mode if you catch someone jumping your 5h, it covers 60 percent of the screen lol

I find that you need to have a strong threat somewhere in your toolkit before you focus on consistency and routing into that strong tool. Fixating on combos can be a bad choice, but you DO need to be able to bust out a threatening bnb before focusing on how to land it. Gotta have bullets in the gun before you work on your aim

I can get away with relying on pokes and footsies in Tekken and SF without putting heavy time into combos….. in MK1 and most definitely Strive, not having multiple combo routes locked into you muscle memory feels extremely crippling…. i have a combo that uses all tention meter when aba isnt in jealous rage then after combo you are in jealous rage which you can use the exact same combo just with your tention meter instead

Maybe it's because people judge her based on how she plays instead of how she feels to play against? My feeling is you just don't want to be near her, but you can't not be near her. That makes me think she's probably pretty good. Also, the devs gave her really awful basic movement (like Nago, sort of) because she'd probably be busted if she had normal movement all the time.

i don't see how not being near her can be good for her, her biggest problem in normal mode is approaching, and she has no way to generate jealously on her own. if she's out of gauge, she's so helpless against characters who can just run away from her. she has to force some sort of RPS with 236K or 214K or else there's no way she can get in

With the amount of resource management that goes into Strive for every character, she is essentially a better Nago because she is much less likely to mis manage resources (and pays for it less when she does), has better frame traps, comparable mixups (don’t need many when your character two touches). She will suffer the same bad matchups as him but will deal with them better in long sets/player knowledge

The major issue I'm seeing with ABA at the moment is that she does need specific routing to not get completely mauled, but Burst & positive bonus regenerating Burst makes it where it's very likely you won't get that ender. She needs something like RC to reasonably have a chance at baiting burst and that's a pretty big issue. She needs a burst safe way to somehow do her routing into hit grab and frankly I don't think that exists or requires wild assault which is questionably practical outside of CH due to her being a blue burst character.
