Rain is actually originally a character from a webcomic called, well, _Rain,_ which is about her attending a Catholic high school while dealing with her transition (a rather conventional, non-magical one this time) and meeting a group of queer friends. It showcases the challenges of being transgender in a realistic way and it's actually very wholesome and _very_ emotional. I recommend reading it.
