Nothing can prevent an ultimate (five 6s) so evasion can't be spent and you'd do full damage

I love Dice Throne !! So many great characters that all play very different but the game is still extremely balanced. Love the Battle chest. Such amazing trays & components & some of the BEST Art in a game. Plus the developers are very very active in the Facebook community.

I love Dice Thone! My friend and I just played and beat scenario 7 in Dice Throne Adventures today. We are playing as the Monk and Paladin from the S1 re-rolled chest. Super fun!

Too bad you forgot that nothing can be done against an Ultimate once it's locked, you might have had a chance ! :) Dice Throne is the game I've played the most the last two years, about 200 games. I just love it ! Dice Throne Adventures is really nice as well.

Oops, major mistake there. The only thing an enemy can do to protect against Ultimate is to force you to re-roll. They don't roll for defense, and they cannot activate any defensive buffs against it :)

@@BoardGameCo - It’s on the last page of the new rule book under “Ultimates”. No status effects can be used to avoid an Ultimate. Nothing can be used to reduce damage. Even the shadow thief in the “shadows” can’t avoid it. All you can do is try to force a re-roll. We house ruled it so you can’t even force a re-roll. It’s cheap to force a re-roll on a die after someone got an Ultimate imo. If they get an Ultimate kiss your tookus good bye.

@@arowelor1007 - It’s all relative. Cheap meaning some re-roll cards are indeed cheap (plentiful) depending on the character you are and some characters are flush with upgrade points. Ultimates are relatively rare statistically even with cards manipulating dice. For someone to eek out an Ultimate just to have it snatched away to a horrible aspect of the game. We prefer it that way, so thats the way we play it.😁

@@CB-yh3db the fact that we can fail an ultimate forces us to play more carefully. We have to check if our ennemy has enough PC and if he still have potentially the cards that modify our dice. But I totally understand that we can be frustrated when our ultimated is countered but it is also delightfull when we can finally successfully land an ultimate attack. For me the game is less strategic and the cards have less impact if you Can't modify the dice in order to stop an ultimate. But if you guys have more fun with your home rules then It's fine because thats what matter 😉

Same with my group. Out of the dozen or more games played I've never had someone win with more than 10 hp. While dice are random, this game for whatever reason, does tend to keep runaways to a minimum.

Dice throne is just a treat. Its easy to transport, easy to explain, easy to set up and put away, and has such pleasant art. My anti boardgame family likes dice throne. Highly reccomend to any one. Especially the battle chest.

I wasn't as gracious as you when I lost against the Moon Elf the only time I played this. Let me just say that... ^^ It looks like you both had lots of fun! For me, this was one of the most frustrating gaming experiences I ever had ahah - also, anytime I got 'blind' I rolled a 1 or a 2 XD

This was so funny- she laid the smack down on ya. DT is such a great game for people all along the gaming spectrum. My wife and I love it as a two player game, and she usually dominates as well, lol! Also, my best friend and I are playing through the campaign (DT Adventures) which has been really fun!

The only house rules I play with for DT is, (1) You can only manipulate someone’s die if the card specifically says “Your opponent”. (2) If someone gets five 6’s, then there is nothing that can stop it from going off. Meaning you can’t even force them to re-roll with a card. If someone rolled that, it is too disheartening to take it away from them by a re-roll. Other (Non-Ultimates) rolls are fair game to change if…if you have a card with “Your opponent” card. Games are quicker this way rather than people spending too much time sabotaging someone else’s rolls with “wild cards”. We love it this way…clean…simple brutal. Shadow Thief rolls five 6’s then all you gonna see is SHADOW SHANK!!!!

would the barbarian still take the 5 damage after the moon elf evades? It sounded like the evade doesn't stop all the other effects (like stun) from happening. Sounds like you would still do damage to yourself.

Dang…..She took Alex to the woodshed. Love me some dice throne. Just played Ninja vs. Shadow Thief this weekend. I haven’t plumbed the depths of Season 2 fully but I get busy with the Desperado gunslinger character.

I get the impression that you are not really into it from the beginning. Maybe you missed all the rules because you haven't played that often. But I think you said the moon elf is not about damage while the barbarian is about staying alive. But the barbarian deals a lot more damage and is straight forward punch the enemy in the phase. And the moon elf is more about control and damage mitigation.
