Finally some dice throne content!

This particular video was kind of cursed. Filmed it three times. Had weird sound issues. Got super sick mid editing. Etc. Very happy it's finally out and I can focus on a hero that isn't so... Cursed. Heheh.

Vampire and Seraph was the very first DT box that I bought and thus began the addiction. 😅 I will say this much, Vampire is a very flexible hero so long as you know the match up and understand the game well. The heal is not always a trap. In fact I’ve found it to be very powerful in the mid to late game. The real problem with it is if the opponent lets you get the heal off, usually they don’t. Its either they WSE, Buh Bye, your Blood 🩸 tokens or they save Not This Time for when you attempt to heal. Now if you know that you have a very good chance of the heal going through with an ult so they can’t use NTT then I would say it’s almost always worth forcing it against a hero with lower economy.

Perhaps this is an artifact of spending so much of my time playing DT in tournaments and other competitive settings. I completely agree with you that the big heal is extremely vulnerable to the oppo messing it up and wasting your set up. And this is what happens the vast majority of the time in high level play. Not always. But usually. So, in my experiance the heal is a trap often enough that I don't even go for it anymore. Again, I fully agree that the skill of the opposing player has a LOT to do with the heal working or not working.
@gilbert3579Ай бұрын
@@TheBuildPhase admittedly I’ve never been to a competitive tournament before but my play group is not weak by any means. I would suspect that tournament play probably shortens the game so you don’t have time to set up a heal. I’ll also add that ever since they buffed the BP to 3 dmg the heal is less appealing. All I was saying is that it’s not completely useless. I love your videos by the way and can’t wait for a Scarlet Witch analysis. She is my favorite and a hero that I think is slept on. Cheers Mate!

@gilbert3579 well, and it's probably fair to accuse me of a little bit of hyperbole in my videos from time to time. It's probably not fair to bring Admiral Akbar into this. Hehehe. So I'll concede that the heal does happen some of the time, and when it does, it's GREAT.

I have the leaflet from 2023 box and it states: Blood Power 2 tokens: 'Remove a status effect from a chosen player. This effect may only be activated during your main phase'. I noticed that this is not accurate to what is on your leaflet, but you said you had the updated one. Could you clarify?

I love to play vampire lord when I feel to go aggro. I am not into playing competitive (I dont like how it plays) despite playing Dice Throne with my girlfriend like almost every day. We are both decent at the game and I have to admit, it is not hard to realise that most efficient way to play this character is to rush your opponent with dmg from blood tokens. Personally, we find it a bit boring after time so we just REALLY adore this entire "life-steal" thing. It is DEFINITELY not meta but it is so fun to get those tokens and hope for using them for this life-steal. It is risky, it is challanging to maintain being aggressive and get them at the same time. It is like side objective to win the game. It is SO easy to counter life-steal (removing tokens, blocking dmg, rolling for low dmg value) but man when it hits it is so satifying. It is defnitely not a thing for a tournaments and play-to-win playstyle but when you just want to have fun and do some crazy, creative things in the break of constant most effiective playstyle it is just so FUN!

So, in my opinion, if you're having fun then you're doing it right. Not everyone wants to play in the pressure of competitve environments and not every competitor plays the same way. That's all cool. I offer these guides because A) my wife doesn't want to hear me talk about games as much as I want to talk about games. And B) I hope that by breaking down why I play how I play is helpful for other players. Even if it ends up that we play the game in different ways, the goal is for my analysis to help all players win more games. What's the biggest heal you've been able to pull off so far?
@nightmareking449111 ай бұрын
@@TheBuildPhase Yeah I totally understand and really like your videos! You convinced me to buy samurai / gunslinger set thanks to your videos about them (I wasnt sure about those two)! When it comes to healing I dont exactly remember but it has to go with Blood Magic or Ulimate, otherwise it is kinda easy to counter. Highest I remember from recent duels was like 11 or something but it is definitely not biggest I pulled out.

Nice Review, one question tho: I am super confused by the "Then roll" in REND. Can someone explain the timings there for me? How do I resolve the 6 damage before Damage accumulation/conclusion?
@TheBuildPhase13 күн бұрын
So, this is unfortunaly one of the places in the game where "then" is used in a confusing way. Unlike with some Monk abilities, this "then" doesn't actually do anything. You just throw your rider die and potentially add some incoming dmg or the other results. Essentially, ignore the "then" in this power. A new version of the rulebook that directly engages with the "sometimes then means something and sometimes it doesn't" confusion is incoming. Again, it is unfortunate... But as a game develops and grows you do sometimes find out the way you wrote something in 2019 doesn't totally work with the rules in 2023. I think it's awesome that DT has gone on long enough for these tiny cracks to show. A credit to the designers for how few of them there are.

Honestly feel like the buff should have been more oriented towards the fantasy of life leeching and hypnotising your opponent through mesmerize. Kinda sucks the optimal way of playing a vampire is "Add 3 dmg" to your attack, especially considering mesmerize is that bad of a status effect. The blood power on 2 bleed is nice but unreliable, works well when playing with huntress tho. Great video, thanks for the tips!
@TheBuildPhase11 ай бұрын
I don't entirely disagree with you. Mesmerize is a very anemic SE and probably could have used a buff. Although, it's fair to keep in mind that the super agro way I like playing the Vamp isn't the only way. Especially if you're not playing in a tournament. At the kitchen table, you can live that fantasy of sucking the life out of the opponent with more consistency. I always try to strike a balance in these videos where I share what I think is the best strategy... But I totally accept that there are players who don't think/play the same as I do, and perhaps my guide wouldn't be as helpful for those players. So while I want to say "hey this is what works for me," I don't want to come off like it's the ONLY correct way to play. If you're having fun, you're doing it right.

Small homebrew change: lifesteal up to 3 damage on your attack. Slightly weaker, but way better in flavor.
