Between Ironsworn and Ironsworn: Starforged, I've played over 350 hours of GM-less play, including both solo and GM-less co-op. Highly recommended.

I play Microchap book RPG and Four Against. Darkness. (4AD) both have a lot of content and are cheap to pick up, graph paper notebook and some dice is all you need. And your imagination.

Thanks for the video! You should give GMless games a full video to cover some of the games and styles in the field.

This is super helpful! I have a group of 4 and none of us want to run a game. This could really help us! We love Gloomhaven (and especially Jaws of the Lion) We have had a lot of fun with some of the other tabletop games you list too.

Would love to see a video like this for play-by-post rpgs. I really think it's be great if they came back into vogue again. Especially with people not being as free as they were during the pandemic.

This video was half clickbait. Seriously three of your ways to play without a GM were everyone take turns being the GM, find a GM and be the GM. Your other 3 ways were good but that's only 3 ways not 6.

4:25 Side note: I never understood the appeal of "my sword is bigger than my body" style fantasy art, particularly when the character looks like he or she could barely lift a Swiss Army knife.

Really liked this vid. Good advice. I had a brief group in a D&D game but went sideways in covid. I'd love to play but don't know anyone else who does and can't GM as an utter novice. Going to the local board game shop sounds a great idea. Just need to find the confidence 🤣

I'm lucky to have my groups always be composed of friends. When you are playing with strangers or people you barely know, you really have to stick to ground rules and very basic playstyles as you have no idea what everyone is going to want, and you have no clue if the slightest mis-steps is going to start drama.

Just throwing this out there: gamebooks. They're like choose your own adventure books, except they incorporate RPG mechanics. So when you come to a challenge, you roll dice, and then you're told to turn to a certain page depending on if you succeeded or not.

Loving these quick tips videos. Would making one about running or RP'ing a game via discord and the like be possible? All my friends who I'd play with are scattered across the country, so getting an in person game would be impossible. Might be a similar situation for others too.

The older I get, the less I like RPGs. Although my favorite setting is D&D, I always prefer getting out the miniatures, map and terrain and play Dungeon Crawl mode. So do my friends. Then I found the Dungeon Crawl games: *_Middarra, Role Player Adventures,_* and *_League of Dungeoneers,_* on Kickstarter. No GM needed. All the foes have an AI card with rules on how move. All can be played with 1-4 players. In solo mode, the downside is that you're running 4 characters. The upside is that they are all coordinated. I know there are the same type games in other genres if you are not into medieval fantasy. Also, the are some really inexpensive solo games like *_2D6 Dungeon, Four Against Darkness,_* and *_One Deck Dungeon._* (The first three games I mention are $100-$300 depending on the add-ns and expansions.) So basically, I use RPG rules to track PC progression and there are other games that you you might enjoy. Just get cleaver in searching.

I live in an area where solo play is essential there are no groups in my area. ( in my age group ) I started playing with the 3 white books but my favorite will always be the red and blue basic d&d.
