Dick Dale never gets enough mention. A true legend.

I was on that dance floor plus 1964, 65. I remember it ...my favorite 4 x a week place to be....what memories. I met Melody Johnson there from F Troop series.A few years later I saw Dick at some special Riverside area bar and then later in life I worked with him on Back to the Beach...what a man.Harmony Park was like a giant barn! on Broadway in Anaheim. It's now grass. I miss that year. I miss all the 60s. BEST YEARS OF MY LIFETIME

I was there every Friday night. A bunch of us surfer kids from San Pedro High piled into a car and made the trip. He always closed with the last song Just a Closer Walk With Thee then told us to drive home safely.

didn't you love Harmony Park.....an old barn but today it's a park....its sad. After he left, a few years later it became a shop......a big one. But today it reminds me of how time slips by us. I hope you had great memories there. I did.

left handed guitarist with few if any peers...ahead of the beach boys by several years with what came to be known as "the surf sound." Also known for his car and drag racing songs.RIP Dick Dale!

The way dude just hit the beat with the first note and played a few seconds with one hand on the guitar is just sick. And then the octave drops to start the song. A master.

Do you know why we all had skirts/dresses on? Because we weren't allowed to wear pants at school. We only owned a few pairs. My first pair of levis was at 18 (my brothers tight bell bottom navy pants!)

Hi Keri, just happened to be zipping thru the 'net and saw your comment.. I still see a few folks from West Whittier who also went to Harmony and we mention all as you do. We also attended other venues (retail clerks Buena Park, union hall near Ford plant and Rendezvous Ballroom NB and the Pavilion in HB maybe)....gadzooks what a time you are so right....have a grand day and keep smiling.@@chocolatcats

You are looking at innocence here--it was before the Beatles, before the explosion of drugs--there were lots of sober kids here--young, excited, but little stronger than a few beers here. You might worry you could knock up your date, but you really tried not to. I remember it being a lot of clean fun, cute females!

Wrong butt hole. Most were totally sober, if they were getting in trouble they'd drink beer and drive fast.
