I think the writers have learned this lesson and its going to happen in the back half of this season for no other reason than they don't know the future of DC tv (though I could see this and DP being things that could carry on because DP has all the weird stuff Gunn likes and if he is doing Superman's early years, this is the adult show) and also if they are picked up it wouldn't dramatically change the group dynamics since they tend to be the only two who reliabily trust each other and I think Rachel thinks of them as her parents anyway.
