As much as I hate to correct you, the name of the Salt Lake City newspaper that you were so frequently trying to say and getting wrong is the DESERET Evening News, now known as simply the Deseret News. It’s possible that the original script have it right but editing, spellcheck, and AutoCorrect, which doesn’t know such things, changed it to Desert.

Robert Moses seems like a perfect candidate for this series. A brilliant visionary who gave us Jones Beach, Niagara Falls Park, major superhighways, and plenty of public parks. However, if Robert Caro in the Power Broker is correct, Moses was also a consummate bully who stampeded over people's rights, used Eminent Domain to destroy entire communities, and cost New York the Giants and Brooklyn the Dodgers.

Considering that the Pony Express ceased to exist when Horn was less than a year old, I seriously doubt that he was a rider thereon. Oh, and the Salt Lake City newspaper was the Deser-ET News, not the 'Desert' News.
@floydvaughn8364 жыл бұрын
Part of the making of Tom Horn was his going to compete in a rodeo and entrusting the transport of a dangerous man to a rookie. The rookie was killed by the outlaw, who escaped. The outlaw's name? The Apache Kid. PTSD from an eventful life undoubtedly changed him for the worse. But who can really say? BTW, the Nickells killing was argued as part of the Wyoming Bar Association curriculum. No verdict, last I heard.

As much as I like Steve McQueen as an actor, his portrayal of Tom Horn in the movie of the same name left out a lot of factual evidence that seriously calls into question Horn's innocence. Great movie for getting a feel of the last days of the Old West though.
@nicholasconder47034 жыл бұрын
The absence of this background history from the movie makes it seem more likely that Tom Horn was set up. Having seen this video and getting the missing details of his life, I can now see how the film makers skewed the movie to throw doubt on the verdict.

that newspaper might have been doing a bit of yellow journalism there seeing as the Pony Express went out of business in 1861. One thing that’s never told about Tom Horn. You say the men he killed maybe have been innocent. There is a lot of documentation about Tom Horn leaving notes on the door or somewhere these cattle thieves would see it. He always gave them a warning. Quit stealing cattle or move out of the area he was patrolling. So he must have caught them doing something wrong to first give them a warning. And the second time they were caught is when he killed them. We do a 3 day 1890’s style rodeo in Bosler WY. Town that Tom Horn got his mail. Second weekend of Aug every year. Tom Horn Days
