Tetsuya is the reason why I picked up the bass (as a 2nd instrument), he is my fave bassist ever, specially in old songs like this. Fun facts: 1. He was forced to play bass (he plays guitar as a solo artist) 2. Tetsu wrote this song and many others where the meat and potatoes of the song are the basslines

What's the source for him being "forced" to play the bass? I'm sure he doesn't exactly hate the instrument, as he's known for having quite the collection of basses...
@enzoloveless1323 жыл бұрын
@@MarioAtheonio Tetsu's Gear Closet (printed interview), to the question "When did you start playing bass?", he replied: When was it again… The three of us were hanging out, and Ken-chan said something like “Tetsu, how about you try the bass?” The others already had their own guitars, so “Why not get a bass?” they said. Before this question, he told the story how he would hang out with Ken and his friend at his house (which had a room FULL of guitars), the 3 of them playing guitar. So yeah, when Ken decided to form a band, he told Tetsu to pick up the bass and I'm glad he did.

@@MarioAtheonioI'm talking about their time in school (Ken was Tetsu's senpai), not when L'Arc was formed (Hiro, I believe, was the guitarist of the first L'arc lineup). - (laughs) When did you start playing bass? [When was it again… The three of us were hanging out, and ken-chan said something like “tetsu, how about you try the bass?” The others already had their own guitars, so “Why not get a bass?” they said.] - Does that mean that the three of you were planning to form a band? [It was more like, those two would play guitar together once in a while, but instead of having three guitars together we’d be able to jam in that room better if there was a bass, or something (laughs). That’s what ken-chan told me. But I was like “What’s a bass? How’s it different from a guitar?”.] - But with bass, early on, it’s not very interesting to practise alone at home, is it? [It’s really not (laughs). Plus I was starting from “What’s a bass?” too. ken-chan told me “It’s like a guitar, only with four strings instead of six,” so I figured “Well, since I started much later than you two, it might be easier for me to just have four strings…” (laughs). I asked “Is it fun to play alone in my room?” and got told “Yeah, it’s interesting.” So I bought a bass but once I bought it and tried it out, it wasn’t interesting at all. I thought “He tricked me,” at first (laughs).] - (laughs) Did you buy an amp at the same time? [I did. A little 30W Roland.] - Did the three of you get together to do anything band-like? [Nah, not like a band, we just played more properly in that room. Without even using an amp, we managed to make it sound good with just the raw sound. One time, we brought all our instruments and amps to another senpai’s house, this senpai played drums, and tried playing together. We rode our bikes to take all our stuff over. But it was just a normal house, so looking back on it now, I guess we must have been such a nuisance for the neighbourhood (laughs). Speaking of bands, that was the first time I ever played with a drummer, but that drummer was really bad so the rhythm didn’t match at all. He’d try to fill it but then the bar would get messed up (laughs).]

"The melody sounds kind of sad but the music sounds like..upbeat. fun." That's how I exactly feel 20 years ago when I first heard Blurry Eyes. I have always loved tetsuya's bass, esp. in their earlier works. Make-up of the band is simple and basic: a drummer, a guitarist, a bassist and a vocalist (occasionally as the second guitarist). Each has a strong presence in their works, you can hear their individual lines so clearly, without any of them being muffled in the arrangements or by the vocal. They compliment one another so well. Also, Hyde's voice did change. He went through a throat surgery in 2003 (? I don't quite remember) and the tone of his voice became gritty. That gave him more versatility in handling hard rock songs that he preferred though, imo.

Shinsoku no Lose Control (it's the OST of Godzilla movie for Japan market), this is one of their wildest songs. 3. Forbidden Lover 4. Daybreak's Bell 5. Loreley (Live) These songs can show just how versatile this band is and how that sets them apart of the rest of J-Rock landscape.

Laruku is one of the top japanese rock bands of all time with Ken(the guitarist) being considered one of the top 20 best japanese guitarists of all time and HYDE being the biggest modern rockstar in japan. HYDE also has his solo project where hes going into more Progressive Hard Rock/Metal stuff and his other band called VAMPS where they do Post-Grunge and Hard Rock songs. HYDE is very interested in vampires as such he poses as a vampire in a lot videos both in VAMPS and his solo project, this all started after he played the main role as a vampire in the movie Moonchild alongside another rockstar Gackt. His recent solo project song called On my own was used for a vampire anime called MARS RED, a heavy, kinda gothic and hauntingly beautiful song. Also excuse me for throwing such random facts on various reaction videos you guys make, but thats kinda something that stayed with me from the time i was a radio DJ specialising in Japanese Rock and Metal, presenting various bands and each time giving some various/random pieces of facts about the band was something that came natural to me.

It is also the opening theme for the 90's anime DNA2 which is about a teen boy who carries the Mega Playboy gene and a female soldier from the future is sent back to the past in order to avoid that the Mega Playboy gene awakes because it will cause overpopulation because the Mega Playboy is the most sexually irresistible man. This song is from their second album Tierra (1994), personally it is my least favorite song on the album, unfortunately the other songs are overshadowed by this song, probably because it became very popular since it became the opening of an anime (DNA2) . Since I was little I have been a very follower of rock and some time ago I became interested in Japanese music and I can say that very few groups dared to do what these guys did in this album, the songs are too melodic and have that touch of hard Rock even incorporating touches of bossa nova and reggae and adding the voice of Hyde in full swing I think it gives you an extra that gives you goosebumps, an album one hundred percent recommended. in my opinion one of the best albums I've ever heard.
