The fact that we’re questioning if Alex’s decision to stay with farah shows how badly they mishandled modern warfare’s 3 storyline 🤦🏻‍♂️ But now that I mention it a storyline about a main character questioning if his heart is really in it for the cause he/she is fighting for sounds really compelling and could’ve been a direction that they could’ve taken with Alex and Urzikstan

Alex is a victim of bad writing. I've been playing cod for a long time and when I loaded up mw2019 it instantly took me back. Alex right away became one of my favorite characters in cod, which is pretty insane considering characters like Mason, Woods, Reznov, and Menendez exist. The dynamic between Farah and Alex in mw2019 was great, it showed them not only working together in a mutually respectful manor but also showing subtle moments of bonding between the two of them. Sharing a cigarette, telling little jokes, Alex standing up for her and the ULF when the military redesignated them, Farah saving Alex's life in the wolfs den, Alex reaching out for her when Hadir poisoned them, and of course at that final meeting where Alex sacrifices himself and Farah hesitates in giving him permission. not wanting Alex to go. Little moments throughout mw2019 could have hinted towards Alex and Farah developing some kind of affinity towards each other being made illicit by the circumstances they are in. It is clear they developed a close friendship throughout the game, so much so Alex was willing to die for her and her people. However, whether or not they fell in love or if that feeling is mutual between them is entirely up for interpretation because of Activision's shitting writing of these once great characters and relationships. I personally believe they had chemistry as shown throughout mw2019 with moments of bonding, support, and sacrifice. That chemistry I feel was squandered by Activision in mw3. They assassinated Farah and Alex's connection that gave them such an interesting and compelling relationship. If a man is willing to give up everything to join a group and sacrifice himself for Farah, yeah; I think he developed endearing feelings for Farah, and I think the same for her. The small grin's and long looks Farah would give him during the campaign reinforces my idea of that. In conclusion If Activism weren't too stupid and incompetent to know any better, I think they could have shown Alex and Farah's genuine bond from the mw2019 grow and developed into something more instead of turning Alex into Farah's one-legged NPC bodyguard.

The story of MW itself is the cause of this. Alex & Gaz were my two favorite characters from the MW19 campaign but now they’re just NPC characters. They’ve become so hooked on throwing in fan favorite OG characters into the retold story but now with all of them in it they’ve got to give them some sort of backstory. In the OG MW the story was about ending WW3 & Price & Soap were the two main characters hunting for Makarov. In this story we have no clue what the end goal is, & have characters who have no overall impact on the story that take up a lot of screen time like Ghost Laswell Farrah.

I've always maintained that MW2019 had great missions and great characters, bar Barkov and Farah, but a terrible story. It was all over the place, not to mention that the main villain is barely seen, while the secondary antagonists, namely the Wolf and the Butcher, were done dirty. It felt like IW didnt have a clue how to write a story that trumps the original trilogy.

Alex should have died in MW2019, I agree Farah has become an asshole to Alex, which is pretty fucked up since he literally sacrificed his leg to destroy Barkov’s chemical weapons. It’s just sloppy writing at this point. They rushed to make a game and forgot to include the most important part, the story. I honestly give props to Sledgehammer for not coming out with any post campaign Season cutscenes because they already butchered the campaign, why butcher the lore even further. Back to the topic on hand, they have had so many opportunities with Alex after he “didn’t die” but it was poorly done. The raid missions were only done to put Alex in the game as another operator and tie loose ends with Hadir and Al-Qatala. I think it’s pretty lame that they brought back Alex just for him to only be a side character in 1 mission and worse than that it was an open combat mission.

Hmm, I've never actually thought about this. I was originally expecting you to be talking about him being hunted by the CIA, which I'd have responded with, "Doubtful as Laswell would likely be covering for him." But since you bring up him leaving and nothing he's done has had a real effect, which I can see why you'd say that and why Farah and the ULF were different from any other mission he's completeted or allies he's met. Honestly, I'm not sure why. Perhaps the events in MW2019 were kind of Alex's breaking point that had been building up over time, or perhaps the situation in MW2019 was different from any other situation he'd been apart of as I guess its not often that the allies you're working with and have bonded with are put on the known Terrorist Organisations list, when you know they're not terrorists. With you saying this, I think it could be interesting to maybe have a spin-off game of Alex's time in Urzikstan post 2019, as it could be that Urzikstan's state might have changed positively in the years after 2019 and only recently changed due to Makarov's and Konni's involvement. As for the relationship between Alex and Farah? I think that's a possible option, and you could pin her being kind of harsh or cold towards Alex due to the recent attacks on Urzikstan in 2023 or maybe that they made sure to keep their relationship separate from their professional lives, maybe try and keep it secret so that Al-Qatala or Konni don't see that they're each others weakspots. Another option for all of this is just poor writing, but since we have to deal with poor writing, we'd have to try and figure out plausible ways to make the overall story make sense or fill in the gaps. But I will also say that Alex is likely a huge asset to the ULF due to his skills and has likely trained new recruits, possibly even creating a ULF taskforce similar to Taskforce 141.

Also to not forget that his voice actor Chad Collin’s was in the sniper movies. Maybe the closest background and character development of Alex was in those sniper movies. Maybe it’s a small franchise but nonetheless my gta verse canon says that Alex was the best sniper that the CIA made him. Even Laswell made him his go to guy when price isn’t around. Maybe Alex was a sniper that had fallen off his mental edge. And it’s why he chosen to stay in Urzikstan. Maybe he does stay with Farah. But Farah shouldn’t treat Alex like dog shit. Maybe end Farahs story there. As mw 2019 felt like it’s farahs story chapter there. She would help if necessary. Only in Urzikstan. But set a new country like how mwii 2022 did with Mexico and vaqueros team. Alex Keller spin-off story would be a good idea. Maybe use the Chad Michael Collin’s sniper movies as inspiration.

I think he made a good decision; he never really had a choice to do but to always obey the cia and his superiors and wanted to fight for Farah and her people cause he’s seen enough wars already in his lifetime serving in delta and the us army, I think mw3 messed him up cause they should’ve made him a badass, he after all managed to do the impossible and making him a damsel just for Farah to rescue him was cheap instead have him say he’s got company and over the radio we hear signs of struggle and a lot of gunshots as Farah fears the worst only to see Alex sitting on a bunch of Konni bodies as he asks “hey what took you”? Which cause Farah to chuckle and say that she never expected less, considering he was in the field and done a lot of work in and out and is considered the best that would’ve been a better scene than what they gave us

To be honest when I even first played the campaign of MW 19 I just have to say Alex and Farah sitting on a tree K I SS I NG. But in all seriousness if they had taken this path it would’ve been more interesting for both characters to have a purpose and for Alex not to be a psychic because I hate the way that they portray some characters in this in the latest two instalments to be exact and Alex is a perfect example to show that he is a victim of the way Activision is using some of the best guys in the new universe of this game and how a relationship can kind of enter in a video game that has this topic like we’ve even seen in resident evil battlefield let’s not forget that’s all like I mean if this video will be shown to Activision Treyarch or raven softer or even sledgehammer games have they ruin the latest instalment I just hope they take this pass and they show a much more interesting approach and I just like the rest of 141 or even if they want to bring the Ghost back but if they bring the Ghost back just put back the old characters that’s all and Alex just be a member of the Ghost in one day he comes and sees Farah from an attack and for some reason he shows them so if they have a nice time with the kids and he just goes back to his mission with Ghost it would’ve been nice if they intend to put this in the narrative of the next modern warfare game which will be in 2027.

My biggest concern about modern warfare 2019 story was it lose all the materials they talked about right after Alex joins Farah’s ULF. ULF is being treated as same with Al Catala and what Farah was doing at first was allying with United States and NATO so that ULF doesn’t being treated same as AL Catala. But in the middle of the story ULF revealed itself they are partially working with Al Catala and it was already out of control for Farah. Problem is rest of the story has done too comfortable for Farah. Story describe us general Norris is a conservative person that made a wrong choice but it is true that Hadir who should have been under control by Farah, lead another members of ULF and has killed his soldiers and stole the gas. In that point if story wants to describe Farah innocent, they need to show her regrouping ULF again and show themselves are innocent to NATO command while other members are trying to find Hadir and reveals what he is doing and how many ULF members have joined Al Catala. But instead of that, ULF that should have divided or being out of control just appeared to be normal with no other explanation. Hadir just appeared to be working with Al Catala alone. Everything that should have been a main quest for a story just solved with no reason. I think that makes Alex’s decision to leave CIA look weird. If game want to show us Alex really concerned about ULF’s innocence, they should have shown his perspective of Farah who try to re group innocent people of Urzikstan. But without those, game just show us Alex joins Farah who is going back to her organization that should bave been divided but nothing happened, it makes Alex just joining ULF with no reason.

I don't think Alex "regrets" leaving the CIA, but I know it was the wrong decision. It's so crazy to think about Alex having any loyalty to a country that he doesn't even belong in - like you said how doesn't he feel like an outsider compared to everyone? I hope they show us at least that his loyalty is for a good reason ( even if they show him and Farah being a thing I'll be happy ). I remember playing MW2 and thinking alright now Alex FORSURE is in his comeback era, but I was so wrong. He became my favourite cod character so quick and him surviving feels so unnecessary, we could have just looked back and been like "Ohhh.. Alex the goat😔" but now we're just disappointed. Like others said it's a byproduct of poor writing and not planning ahead because what the hell was MW3? 😭 EVERYTIME I REMEMBER I JUST WANNA THROW MY PHONE... It feels like he's an NPC and the only reason he's there is for the fans who like him.

instead of making him stay in Urzikstan for personal conviction, Laswell assign him to stay assisting Farah and ULF. but because the ULF has been designated as terrorist organization, Laswell set up a cover for him so US forces and the agency wouldn't know his doings and whereabouts. because of this events before last mission in MW2019 would be different. instead of Price came to ULF headquarters, Price contacting Laswell, Alex, and Farah about their findings regarding Barkov. also i don't like how Activision made him "death" and lost his leg, Alex survive the explosion unscathed but instead of making him a small portion for the rest of MW series Laswell would be the one who falsified his death and put him in TF141 as her personal pick among Price's because i'd personally want to see the cohesion of TF141 with Alex in it
