I bought one of these to be my main rifle over my SGL-21 but I went with the 16 inch. I opted for a 4x .300blk Trigicon ACOG. Cons: came with plastic tabbed Pmags for a 2k rifle. Mine did not come with a tool to adjust the gas. The gun is very expensive. Pros: Shoots on average an inch tighter group than my SGL. I feel much more confident taking shots. All the other pros were mentioned in the video. Overall I love it. Seems just as reliable as my AK. In my opinion, much more accurate. If you can afford one, AK guys will not be disappointed. Was nice to be able to use the same magazines and ammo I already invested in. Just don't tell the wife what it cost.

@ There was some controversy with Garand Thumb and his personal love life. Those on KZbin ready to ditch a creator over the most trivial things have freaked out at what Garand thumb was doing in his personal life as if it applies to the content he makes. Just pointless relationship stuff really. Maybe a pregnancy but it’s not like he broke any laws and it’s not like other folks out there haven’t been involved in what he was supposedly involved in.. (two girls, cheating.. or something of that nature). Ultimately it’s his business. Most are surprised to see him allow comments and even reply to many of them despite this supposed “controversy”. In my opinion, what someone does in their own life on their own time outside of the content they make, is their own business. I’m glad others see it that way as well. But basically that’s the gist of it. It’s trivial at best.

Going with the AR10 bolt was a good move. PSA AR47 had extractor issues that tanked sales and reliability. The the AR10 components the price makes a little more sense.

The PSA Gen 1 KS47 was having issues on the gen 2 they added little metal tabs as "mag stoppers" in the front of the magwell so the mag wouldn't rock forward too much dragging on the BCG causing issues. I bought the Gen 2 a couple years ago new it was 7-800 and it ran 9/10 for about 600 rounds before I traded it off.

The advantage of the ks 47 by psa is that - if the extractor or the bolt or whatever breaks - the parts are available and cheaper to replace than competitors. Otherwise it's an OK rifle but not exceptional, although I like mine a lot so far. I had a case of tula ammo with really deepset primers and I needed a different firing pin (better ammo doesn't need the aftermarket firing pin, but the aftermarket firing pin also hasn't overpenetrated any correctly seated primers so there's no disadvantage), but other than that it's been reliable, relatively light, and pretty accurate too.

I have a bolt action CZ that's chambered in 7.62x39 using a euro spec chamber so it is technically designed around steel case ammo. Hornady used to offer a 123gr sst steel case... Man that thing would make 1 ragged hole out of 5 shots at 100 yards. It's a shame they discontinued that ammo

Try doing a “Mexi-Match” (reloading a steel case) use a Hornady sst 123, and Hornady dies. Obviously you have to drill the flash hole. There is a jig for it. It should surpass the factory stuff.

I'm also glad you talked about heat treatment of the barrel Steel, same thing with buck knives they used 420 stainless but their heat treatment was so good they took a steal that most people hate and think is trash and made it to perform extremely well given how bad of a reputation that kind of stainless has same as the 440. I understand that you're talking about a gun barrel versus a knife but it's still relevant because the heat treatment of certain Steels makes a massive difference in performance And Longevity.

Knife forums are full of bad info about metallurgy... go make some and you'll quickly see half of what people parrot about metallurgy is wildly inaccurate. I don't know how that can't translate to barrels and such.

It is the same exact issue and the same exact fake debate. If you don't know how to heat treat supersteels, but can heat treat cheaper steels well, you are golden. Properly treated 440C and 1095 (for knives) are more than adequate, for some applications down right perfect, without always resorting to S100V and CPM relics

I disagree! If it’s a reciprocating handle, then it’s a hazard on the left. If it’s non-reciprocating, it’s slightly less hazardous, but you can’t use it as a forward assist.

I’ve never been able to get into AKs, I have my reasons. Don’t fault people that like them, simply not for me, I’ve owned 4 and got rid of all of them from PSA to Kreb’s Custom to Norinco to IO. I bought a CMMG Mutant, as it was once referred to, and love it. Its recoil is amazing, it’s far more accurate than I EVER expected, and I like the aesthetics. Finally found an “AK” I wanted to keep.
