If you’re bowling without passion why are you even out there? Without passion there are no pro sports! Great perspective JR! Thank you!
@JonHop16 ай бұрын
Well I agree with this to some extent, there is crossing the line tho... I think flipping the bird is pretty immature, but its not the end of the world and Its not really a big deal at all. I was confused why people really even cared on Facebook last night. JR said it himself.... He would never flip anyone the bird... And same here... I get very emotional and angry sometimes, but I am not gonna disrespect anyone or take out my frustration on anyone else either.
@NathanMoist5 ай бұрын
@@JonHop1 Agreed the flip was over the line and would get you in trouble in any pro sport. But the people that think these guys should show no emotion or frustration are missing it. They are mostly bowling for their lives. Let them show their emotion. This may involve and outburst or a slamming of a ball. Something like that. A guy breaks a bat over his knee after a strikeout people just say oh he's just playing with passion. Bowling should be no different.
@JonHop15 ай бұрын
@@NathanMoist For me, I more dislike when any Professional takes out their frustration on other people. I have zero issues with anyone showing emotion, but I think when it is directed at other people, that is a problem. Like I said, I think what Simo did was pretty tame and not that big a deal, but I still don't like it when he is using JR as a target to take out his frustration for such petty reasons. This type of behavior should be condemned and not encouraged.

I’m glad JR handled it well and de-escalated the issue. My only concern is the professionalism and the sponsors names on everyone’s shirt. I know Turbo and BowlerX wouldn’t appreciate that kind of behavior. We bowlers that carry a sponsors name on our shirts are an extension of their product and or their company. I hope he adjusts for his sake, his sponsors, and the PBA.
@tonyk4386 ай бұрын
Why? This gets them more view time. I agree that at some point of egregiousness, a sponsor won't like it. Anything below that point just is more advertising for a fixed fee. If you do it too often, then I think the other players will start to dislike you. Many competitive sports have this stuff, and it doesn't hurt them. In fact, it draws in viewers. I think bowling needs more of this stuff to grow the sport. When I grew up, bowling was mainstream sport. Perhaps it is too reserved for modern times.

This stuff happens in everyday life all the time in many work environments. In my experience, if two people truly dislike each other and this happens more than birds start flying. I agree that passion can be shown in different ways when competing in any sport. For Simo's display of passion, although I do not agree with how it was shown, never should have been towards you. If anything, he should have flipped a double bird to the lanes or the pins for him not being able to beat those lanes that particular day. Bowling is a lot like golf, this is a game that has an outcome of only your skill that day. There is nothing anybody else can or cannot do to make you score any better or any worse. Simo may be a really nice guy, I do not know, but this shows a bit of immaturity on his part. However, I am glad that the ones involved have moved past this as we the fans should too.

It’s always great to have fun, the only thing is depending on the circumstances and time, different bowlers are going to have different views of that depending on who they are, if they like to joke and if they are bowling good or bad. And their reaction to such a gesture could result in a 3 piece and a soda. Just sayin…
