I don’t think canon lied. They tested the R5 for long period of time to see if can handle. And it can very well. I did shot outside in hot temperature this summer after 1.6 firmware in 4k 120fps and it did not shut down. Great video!

Hey thanks for the feedback and watching. Good to know on the 4k. Thank you. I will pin your message for others. The question of lying was more around when it originally came out. Was this new feature in 1.6 something they could have given us up front. Probably but if so Canon R5C would have sold less.

****NOTE**** It still will shutdown, the switch just makes the tolerance be much higher. A very hot day outside might cause some shutdowns. 120 slomo especially. It however is much better and 100x more usable.

They did lie, because a tempture of 106 is not really hot, My Fuji XT-3 would shoot 4k 60P and reach temps of 112 and not shut down, how ever after about 4 hours of 4k60 it did reach around 119 then shut down, so 106 temp is not an issue to worry about, all they did is set the software to not shut down at 106 temps they probably set it to like 130 where it would shut down. you got to remember computer chips can get really hot with out failure, a I9 Intel processor reaches around 100C which is over 200 degrees F so temps about 130 deg is not anything to worry about computer failures.. So my opinion is that temps at around 106 Deg, is really mild not hot.. you should do that test at 4k 60p and see what the temps are and when it shuts down, i bet you it will not record 4k 60p for more then 45 minutes tops

I did the test on all formats and I couldn’t overheat my R5 at all, I even shot for more than an hour in 4k 120fps and did not shot down.

What kind of recording lengths do you get outside with temps in 80s? 75 is a bit too low for outdoor temps

LOL 80 is a bit too low for outside. I live in Texas, try 90-100s. LOL was not trying to test it's boundaries. Was trying to compare new firmware to previous firmware. See my comment above, it will still shutdown in Xtremes is my impression but have not had time to test myself. 80s - 100, I hear no worries unless you recording in 120slomo or maybe 60slomo, 8k, 4khq 24, 30p, all good

@@AnthonyCrouchPhotography I had an R5 that I sold for R5C thinking I was fixing the issue. The software BS on the R5C is simply not as good as R5. Most importantly I lost my wireless remote “upgrading” to R5C. My R5 cold use it but R5C cannot 🤦🏻♂️. Most of what I do is outside commercial stuff which is why I ask. How it tolerates mid 80s temp at that higher all-I HQ settings. I felt far more capable shooting on an R5 than I do on my R5C. It sucks to know that most of the heat issues has been solved. My luck is I sell the R5C to go back to R5 and Canon drops a firmware to R5C that fixes the BS that is going on with it now 😂. That’s my luck

@@CaliforniaPhantom I guess it depends on a person needs, I love the R5C, so much choice, better compression, (xfavc) easier to process the video, shutter angle, 8k, 4k, 2k, all of the video tools built in that you will ever need, lacking on R5. No 30 min rec limit, can record sound to separate card for easier processing, clean up. Hot shoe that will allow to to plug up xlr mics with addon. The AF is not as good, I don't want the IBIS for video. Pick your poison, overall imo the R5C is much better for video.

is that 4k 120fps?

They ran cover so the r5c could get off the runway. We can’t prove it, but we know what really happened.
