WE have made Kennedy’s career.....you think he would have had the same amount of goals and games had he stayed at the Blues.....I guarantee he would not have. He would have steered the Blues to the finals appearances that Judd single handedly did, don’t think so. Supporters of every other club know the real reason why Judd wanted a trade away from West Coast, to a less successful team in Melbourne. He didn’t want his reputation as a great player tarnished by the issues with drugs, that the club was secretly trying to keep quiet, but failing miserably at. How could no one at the club, especially Worsfold who was a trained & qualified pharmacist, trained in visually detecting the effects of illicit drugs, as were other medicos at the club, not realise Ben Cousins & others such as Mainwarring were on the gear?

Nope - Carlton won the trade with getting Judd. It was such a coup for a club that was down to be able to land the best player in the league at that time. Judd gave good years of service to the club, unfortunately no other players on the list had the game winning impact that Judd had. They weren't at his level. I'd do the Judd trade every day of the week; it gave supporters at least some hope that we had such a talent on our list. We limped into a couple of finals series on the back of Judd. We were lucky to get him.... We wont see a talent like that at the club for a long time. Diesel Williams was the last I saw at that level from the Blues....

Funny just how unlucky West Coast was in those highlighted games, or rather Carlton being blessed by the footy Gods. Earl Spaldling takes out key play maker Guy McKenna. 2 matches where WCE kept hitting the post rather than steal the win. The Koutoufides match remembered by Eagles fans as the match stolen by the umpires where a Tony Evans rush behind was awarded as a Greg Williams goal, costing the Eagles the match. Lastly the '99 Semi-Final where WCE were robbed of home final for the second time in 4 years, the club and playing group was too livid and distracted by it and lost to a Carlton side that grabbed the opportunity after losing in week one of the finals. Awfully biased segment, couldn't find one positive Eagles moment against the Blues when the Eagles lead that head to head ledger.

Its an odd comparison, because they were very different players. Carlton at the time had the best FF in the league with Fevola, they needed a gun midfield to drive them into the finals which Judd did. Kennedy was not needed at the Blues but West Coast needed a FF since they already had the midfield group driving them into finals. It was a Win Win for both clubs. They grabbed what they needed at the time and were both successful at their clubs. Its not everyday a club receives a 2 time Brownlow medalist, Carlton already had a 2 time Coleman medalist so it wasn't rocket science why the Blues went for Judd hard.

The trade saw Judd and pick No.46, which was used to recruit Dennis Armfield, sent to the Blues in exchange for full-forward Josh Kennedy, pick No.3 (Chris Masten) and pick No.20 (Tony Notte). WCE won this trade by a country mile. Since 2008 Kennedy has had a career which matches Judd's (he has been 3 times All Australian and won the Coleman twice, played 248 games and kicked 658 goals!!!!). Masten played 215 games and won a premiership in 2018. Dennis Armfield contributed a lot less than that to Carlton.

There is no way anyone can justify Carlton winning this trade. West Coast got 2 premiership players and one of the best KPFs in the last decade. Judd may have won a Brownlow but he was meant to the final piece of the puzzle to help take a promising young Carlton side to glory. Even his legacy isn't great - his young proteges in Murphy and Gibbs plus others, he was meant to mentor them to become champions, winners and successful. He failed to do that as a leader. And recently he was a director at the club and has directed them to further mediocrity. WCE win by the length of the nullabor as they say. Nothing has changed at Carlton, absolute rabble. Tank for high draft picks. Can't develop them. Lure players to the club on big money to try and boost performances who ultimately don't perform. Sack the coach. Rinse and repeat.

Ok. Imagine the career Kennedy would of had at the Blues minus Judd. Visualise it. Imagine the career Judd would of had at the Eagles if he stayed. Visualise it. Judd carried the Blues to the finals and won a Brownlow. Kennedy is in a quality team/club surrounded by good/great players. So...... If Kennedy stayed at Carlton he wouldn’t have EVER played finals let alone a flag. Judd would’ve played in another one or two flags and possibly another Brownlow if stays at Eagles. All hypothetical, Kennedy went on to win two coleman medals and is the all time leading eagles goal kicker, those are facts. Eagles traded a superstar player that wanted to go home for potential that worked out amazingly. One of the best full forwards to play the game. In a vacume Judd is the better player, add some context and Kennedy was an awesome pick up who helped lead the eagles to a premiship. I s that not the goal of footy, how many did Judd lead Carlton to? I know Judd lead carlton to finals but how far did they get? As a Carlton fan.... The most satisfying memory of having Judd was when we finished 9th but still played finals because at the time Essendon decided that injecting peptides was allowed.... Anyway we played Richmond and Carlton won because of Judd. The irony, Richmond who used too always finish 9th finally didn't finish 9th, made finals, but got beat by a team who finished 9th. Other than that..... I wish we kept Kennedy. And that's considering Judd's dudd influence at a football executive board level too!!!!!

@@eponymous7910 that’s because Judd strained his medial 2 weeks prior, that’s why he’s knee was heavily strapped, he missed the round 23 game against port so he felt like he needed to play.

West Coast by a long proverbial mile. - Kennedy played in more finals matches than Judd, won a Premiership and played in 2 Grand Finals. The player they drafted out of the first round draft pick from the trade that went to them also won a Premiership and played 200+ games. - Judd never made it past the Semifinal in his time in Carlton and never won a Premiership or finished top of the league. I understand that people will point out that he won a Brownlow at the Blues but Gary Ablett Jnr also won a Brownlow at Gold Coast yet never played finals football there.

@@jeffaustin8112 Carlton had Fev, a undebatable better forward at the time and many would still agree that Fev is still a better forward even to today. Kennedy was not needed at the Blues because they already had one of the most dangerous forward lines in the comp.
