Thanks for reviewing. Mine has just arrived and can confirm it's very well made. I bought the rose gold version as I love the warmth of the colour against the blue aventurine dial. I'm trying out the strap at the moment but I got the bracelet too which looks gorgeous and luxurious. I paid extra for the Sellita-based movement as I live in the UK and wanted the moon to move (logically for me) clockwise. It's easy to set up if you know how many days past the last full moon you are. I already have the Loresum J1 jumping hour watch which is another clever piece at an affordable/reasonable price. The brand makes some innovative watches. And posting them out from its UK base means the dreaded import duty is (lawfully) avoided.

I've got one on order! Thanks for the review. I think I'll go with the gold one. The CW is too expensive for me and I don't need the Swiss movement in either watch!

Nice find mate! I don't mind the capped pinion and I would always go with the Miyota rather than the Sellita, especially when is such a difference in price. I do like Christopher Ward but the its complete lack of indices the C1 Moonglow isn't for me. They found and elegant solution for this Loresum.
@LumePip7 ай бұрын
Nice one, Alex! Honestly, I think both a pretty stunning - my main hangup with the CW would be the price and the slightly bigger diameter. You're right, though - the lack of precise timekeeping might get me a bit wound up over time! (pun intended)
@andrewhlavacek90587 ай бұрын
What's more, the Sellita version is more expensive even though, by some estimates, it's a less accurate movement.
@richardpool99707 ай бұрын
Worth noting that with the Miyota movement the moon with rotate anti-clockwise (i.e. right to left) and this is how the moon phases would appear in the southern hemisphere. The Sellita will rotate in the opposite direction (clockwise) so for people in the northern hemisphere that's technical the truest representation. Just a bit of a shame it's $200 more but I kind of understand why. There are also now 4 or 5 different dial and plating options including a partly white or black MOP dial so for me the choice alone (plus price difference) makes this more appealing than the C1 MoonGlow. Edit: Also worth noting that I think you need to reset/tweak the moonphase on the LS04 every 3 months but not for decades on the C1. Being pretty lazy myself this is a consideration 😀

Great insight here, mate 👌the new colours look pretty amazing - I'd be really curious to see that black aventurine. And you're right - obviously the CW has a fancy pants movement that doesn't need the moonphase changing, but imagine that as a daily wear!
@nathans9764Ай бұрын
Assuming that the Loresum is using the "standard" 29.5 days, it will remain accurate for 33 months, not 3. The actual moonphase is 29.53 days, a difference of about 43 minutes and 12 seconds per month. It takes 33.33 months for that to add up to a full day. Also consider that the full moon and new moon that you're setting your watch to don't occur at midnight when the watches "tick" it over. For example, August 2024 the full moon occurred at 2:26PM EDT. So if you set any moonphase watch--this, the christopher ward, or even the IWC Portugieser Eternal with its 45 million year accuracy, you are immediately setting the moonphase off by more than this watch will drift in a year.
@kevinleighuk21 күн бұрын
@@nathans9764 that's helpful. I had understood that the moonphase is pretty accurate using a date wheel turning at 29.5 days/month. Hence only 0.03 out each lunar month. If you want super accuracy for moonphase, and want it on your wrist watch, the Yes WorldWatch does all of this and more. It's rechargeable quartz but that's no problem if you want accuracy. And its titanium inc rose gold which is unusual. The designer has programmed so much information into it like moonrise, moonset, sunrise, sunset, twilight times etc and all you have to do is set your location from about 650 cities or use latitude and longitude. He's just launched a new model that figures out where you are by satellite!
@lammyjammer66707 ай бұрын
There are certain mathematical requirements for the moon phase wheel to work properly on the display cut out. If you notice most moon phase watches have a very similar shaped cutout regardless of size. The curves match the curvature of the moon to be able to cover it exactly at the correct intervals. In that sense, nobody is copying anyone. Everyone's designing within the same limitations and thus, end up producing very similar outcomes 🤷🏾♂️
@LumePip7 ай бұрын
Yeah, that's true! But I think even with that caveat, these two are strikingly similar looking. Like, there are also small moonphase complications, some on different parts of the dial, so this execution, although not uncommon, combined with the other elements, has made people jump to the conclusion that one copied the other
@lammyjammer66707 ай бұрын
@@LumePip Let's see... Big ass moon on a dial made of a material that simulates a sky full of stars at night pretty well... The only thing both designers are guilty of is lack of imagination since putting those elements together is oxymoronic but yeah... the people accusing one or the other of plagiarism are really just showing their bias 🤣
@richardpool99707 ай бұрын
Been following Loresum since the LS02 and I think that the LS04 is actually an obvious iteration of the LS03 where many people were asking for a proper moonphase (i.e. 29.5 days). The LS04 is the first one I felt was the right size for my wrist as the other were around 49-50mm lug-to-lug.

The Arnold and Sons is a great call! I prefer this to the CW. But there were a few too many details nagging me, from execution to preferences (like the oddly matched blue seconds hand) that have kept me from loving this design enough to back.
