I'm going to be honest, with my luck in Destiny, finally getting what I've been grinding for doesn't usually feel like a joyful surprise, it feels like a release of long held tension. Usually when I do a raid or a dungeon, I enjoy the puzzles, the unique mechanics, the intensity of the challenge. The loot is there to fill out the collection, maybe expand the tools that I might call upon for a build later. I'd be happy, if I wasn't getting a new weapon or piece of armor, to get Ascendant Shards or Alloys, heck even some enhancement prisms wouldn't hurt. And honestly, I think some people might need to do some reflection. I don't know the numbers, of course, but I'm willing to bet that the average Destiny 2 player doesn't grind down the newest raid within the first week or weekend and then not have anything to get excited for. I would go so far as to say, more people probably need that 'one drop' from any given raid. But hey, feel free to chime in, I'd love to know the solid data.

For me when I go for loot its less to do with gunplay and more about fashion. The gun could literally be a reskin mechanically and I wouldn't care so long as the looks of the gun feel refreshing and I can slap it on my various themes. An example would be that I have a Hunter whom I basically vexafied so the types of weapons and exotics I should focus on should be futuristic and fit with a Vex theming. With so many guns at my disposal I can pick out the right guns that fit with my theme and I keep that perpetual loop of feeling and looking like a badass

Keep crafting, get rid of enhanced perks.

I believe weapon crafting created a situation where we can play the game more responsible. And not have to put all those hours in to chase a weapon type. Particularly for me, it opened up a world for good rolls for pvp to where I felt more competitive without spending 30 hours chasing a palindrome or a good sniper roll. I think I'm closing in on 4700 hours of d2 game play and I'm 38. I have a lot of other things I do and gaming can't take up days anymore. It feels bad that a lot of players are not spending as much time on the game with all the hatred I see spewed on the internet about our game, but it's great that the game is getting easier to step away from it for a week sometimes.

But my guy, you turned into a casual, it was your choice. Why should the game suffer for people who chose your path? Like oh Fortnite, random roll made an adept feel adept… now? Craftable is just easier so why grind for an adept🤷‍♂️ so what’s the point of rng adept rolls when you can just craft a similar weapon with “enhanced” perks? Basically they castrated end game adept loot with weapon crafting

One note on Dan mentioning the Eerie Engram focusing. While you could focus them into exotic helm, arm, chest, and boots, the engrams were not fated engrams, meaning that you were not guaranteed to get an exotic that you didn't already have. If you were missing osmiomancy for example, you still only had 1/9 or 1/10 odds to get that particular exotic. For a "casual" player, that is an abysmal "catch-up" mechanic considering it took 2,500 candy for exotic Eerie Engram focusing.

The Issue with Sunsetting wasn't the gear, it was the content and the DCV (Destiny Content Vault). Sunsetting gear is a good idea, IF you create a new chase the following release (season/episode/expansion). Sunset all gear on a rolling schedule, so people have time to prepare, Give players value and materials for their sunset gear automatically, THEN create a specific chase. For example: Season of the wish could have an artifact mod the makes snipers great, release new snipers, some cratable, some earnable and then repeat.

I think enhanced perks are what made crafting problematic. By creating another, higher pursuit of gear, you tell people that their 5/5 god roll random drop isnt good enough, so random drops dont matter bc even the best random drop cant beat a crafted weapon. Take enhanced perks out, take the need to craft out. Now random rolls stand a chance. I also think people have this need to craft every weapon and thats not the case. Im a number go up gamer, so i like completing the patterns, but i dont have that many crafted weapons

There needs to be crafting but for weapons that aren't craftable, there needs to be something similar to Season of the Hunt, where you can limit the perks you want to drop on the weapon then giving you a greater chance of getting it. No one should take days to get a roll they want

If I know a weapon is guaranteed from an activity like a gm, the chase and excitement for a potential drop is there. What can be discouraging is if you’re chasing a raid weapon but you only get armor pieces from a full Crota’s End clear. There’s also some non-craftable weapons that are so exceedingly rare to drop.

I think a system where perks on crafted weapons were unlocks from other drops of the weapon would have been a good middle ground. See a Round Robin with keep away drop? Put it into the crafting table and pull the perk out to put on other round robins you find. That way you still need to go get more of them.

Crafting made Destiny approachable for new players and casual players. In Season of the Witch, I'm presently Rank 230-ish. I really want an Overflow/Kinetic Tremors Showrunner. Well over 200 engrams have been spent towards getting that roll combination. I still don't have it. If I had to slog through that for every weapon, I'd quit playing.
@AboveDestiny
@AboveDestiny 9 ай бұрын
We touch on this exact issue actually. I think there needs to be a better balance. Not guarantees with crafting, not 150 runs of a raid to get your god roll, but an in between that keeps some excitement, a bit of grind, but not an unnecessary slog that prevents fun factor or approachability.
@jproberson528
@jproberson528 9 ай бұрын
@@AboveDestinyI think a solution would be to introduce a re-roll system similar to Diablo's, run through Rahool. Maybe someone has a 3/5 roll they're chasing; let them randomize one slot for a different perk. Don't like it? Go out into the world, "level it up" in the same way crafted guns are, and filling up the experience bar for that weapon allows you to reroll that perk slot again. And don't allow rerolls on double-perked slots. I believe that's the only compromise that won't irritate the playerbase. It keeps players engaged with playlists, maintains a tangible reward system that isn't completely tied to RNG, and encourages people to play with weapons they may not touch, otherwise.
@callsignjoker1
@callsignjoker1 9 ай бұрын
@jproberson528 I would be happy with this compromise. My issue with crafting currently is that I feel like no drops are special now. Crafting certainly streamlined the process of getting loot, and helped with bad rng situations, but it streamlined all the excitement right out of getting that gear to begin with. I am personally all for a pure rng loot system, because I like that dopamine hit when I get an awesome drop. The trade off is that you have to deal with the bad rng side of the coin, but you can mitigate how bad that is to deal with by having smaller perk pools on weapons, with more combinations that are viable, and not 79 perks in each column. Bringing back curated rolls could also help solve this. Like, when that weapon drops, there is a 5% chance that it is an already masterworked, god roll version. I just feel like everything is too easy to get now, so nothing feels like it's special anymore, and nothing is exciting. Your idea of implementing re-rolling I think could be a really healthy balance. You grind to get close to your preferred drop, and then you can focus on turning that drop into it's final form.
@jproberson528
@jproberson528 9 ай бұрын
@@callsignjoker1 I like the crafted weapon system despite it's shortcomings, but I do think Bungie could get away with cutting back the number of patterns they release each season. That said, crafting is here, and vaulting it now would be a punch to the mouth for a lot of people. It'd probably be better to do like the panel discusses and implement some version of Armor 4.0 with set bonuses and passive enhancers, because honestly no one is going to get excited for new weapons unless there's some serious power creep involved or Bungie sunsets content. And I'm not a fan of Bungie's method for sunsetting content.
@callsignjoker1
@callsignjoker1 9 ай бұрын
@@jproberson528 yeah, I'm with you there, it certainly is too late to roll back now, and sunsetting...well, like they said, it COULD have worked, but they botched it's execution. If they were to try again, people would absolutely flip. There's a comment a bit further down regarding armor that sounds incredible, where pieces could have attributes that give minor boosts to subclass verbs like +1 second to invis type stuff. This would have you chasing down the set for the type of build you were wanting to create. I think that sounds super promising, but I don't know how realistic it is given how fragile the game seems to be. That's a BIG change to make.

Some things that Id love to see changed: Rarity 2.0: make rare, uncommon, common loot have a purpose in the game. Attributes 2.0: make the various attributes have a more discernible effect on moment to moment gameplay. Armor 3.0: include an origin trait to legendary armor that makes its feel a bit more unique than currently. Weapons 3.0: give weapons an energy system akin to armor that is determined by the weapons rarity and how much you have invested into it. Spend energy points to increase the tier of perks on the gun by the differing rarities (ex: Common Rampage would cost 1 energy with a smaller bonus than current rampage, Legendary Rampage would cost 4 energy and would have a slightly higher bonus than current Rampage). This would let players decide which perks on their guns that they value more, giving them agency and customization beyond what is provided by weapon crafting currently.

D3 or no, the reason why people want it is very simple: As of now, D2 feels like a cluster of systems held together with tape and bubblegum. Once in-game LFG is added, all the major systems needed for Destiny will be present BUT they all don’t gel together like they need to. Starting from scratch with all these systems built from the ground up to flow into eachother is the ideal. It’s been a slow march to this, and a lot of people are tired of funding it. The loot system is directly tied to the enemies we’re fighting. Enemies haven’t changed since vanilla D2, and even then they more of a 1.5 version of the D1 iterations. Enemies also need to be built with our ludicrous level of power in mind. Trash mobs can remain trash, but everything above it need to offer some level of challenge. Enemies 2.0 is painfully needed.

This might be long, but you’ve talked about weapon crafting and loot incentive on every summit episode so far so I hope you’ll read this. Coming from someone who has played the game since D1 day 1, I am so sick and tired of grinding for weapons. It’s not necessarily that I don’t want the chase. It does feel great to finally get what you want. But the droprate of everything is so low that it takes literally forever to get what you want. It took me 102 full clears of duality before I got demo + Repulsor Unforgiven. I still don’t have the Envious + Bait Cold Comfort. And honestly, I’m over it. Once I get these, I will not be happy to have them. I will be happy to move on to something else. They need to stop being so stingy with loot drops. One piece of gear for a 5-7 minute encounter is just absurd. It’s so disrespectful of player time. And THIS is why I’m slowly moving away from Destiny. Give me more than one piece of gear per encounter so it only takes half an eternity (instead of a full one) to get what I want instead of making it feel like I’ll literally never get it and I just have to find a craftable alternative. Crafting is a good thing for Destiny because the grind isn’t fun anymore. It’s exhausting and probably the biggest contributing factor to my franchise fatigue. Why would I keep spending my 2 hours a day playing Destiny, where I probably will not actually see any progress at the end of my gaming session, when I could play Diablo where every single session my build evolves and improves? You know the difference between the two? Diablo isn’t afraid to shower you in loot.

I disagree. Buffing mobility is a slippery slope, mainly because Dodge is tied to it. Tying handling and reload speed to Mobility automstically makes Hunters the most dominant they've ever been. Dodge being arguably the strongest class ability, combined with Hunter being the easiest playstyle to pick up and already making up the majority of players, and then adding a built in PeaceKeepers function for ALL weapons just because you built into rolling around. It also makes ANY weapon perk and armor mod regarding those two functions ENTIRELY useless. Dexterity mods, reload mods, handling perks, reload perks, all would become entirely useless to every single hunter. 100 resilience is not a rewuirement like people make it sound like, 70-100 resilience is a difference of literally less than 10% that you will never notice where it matters. Mobility affecting most movement, on top of making two weapon stats and dozens of perks and mods irrelevant, would be the largest powercreep we've seen yet. I wish people would take the context of the game and its content into account when thinking of buffs. Its a cool idea on paper, but knowing how this playerbase behaves since D1 launch, it'd become the most oppressive meta we've ever seen.

In my opinion crafting doesn't doesn't inherently ruin loot chase, but the way Bungie has designed crafting hinders loot chase. Let me explain, weapons have a bunch of different rolls that are deem god roll or worthy of chasing. What Bungie has now is that you just need to chase the weapon itself in order to craft it. What it should be is that you chase the PERKS on weapons to then apply them to your crafted weapon. For example if you really wanted a auto rifle with Kill Clip, you should have to keep grinding that auto rifle until you get a kill clip roll. It does not matter what the other perks on that looted auto are. Then you should have to "extract" that perk off the looted weapon to be able to put it on your crafted version of the same auto rifle. To me this make the loot chase a lot more in depth and incentives grind instead of given a "Free God Roll" for every crafted weapon now.

As a more casual player that dabbles in the mid-endgame like Nightfalls and dungeons, I feel like if they want to keep implementing Weapon Crafting as a bad-luck protection and build a more consistent power fantasy with as many players as possible, some consideration should be pointed at what should be craftable year over year. Instead of raid gear being craftable and almost eliminating the chase for those players, maybe it should instead be those world drops that appear so infrequently but have large perk pools. This would theoretically return the chase for the endgame loot rolls, while also giving newer players the ability to experiment with weapon archetypes and perk combos to help build out their specific builds and game knowledge as they move up in power and start higher-level content.

Red borders are goated. If there are 6 raid weapons, you need 30 to complete the set. If you can get 2/wk that is 15w to get the whole set. I think if anyone does 15 runs of a raid, they are doing a lot of content and that is enough. NF give you goldballs but you cant craft weapons. Some of the dungeon weapons are craftable so that is nice. I play the game to have fun…and not getting weapons you want is honestly a drag. The only reason not getting vex/eyes/1k is good, is that 5 other ppl are willing to give up their time to help you…which is awesome when you think about it…and possibly to get ppl back into content that they thought was dull but is fun every now and then

Here's a thought. Bungie could make armor pieces more meaningful if they added subclass verb actions to them. Imagine a nightstalker with 5 pieces of armor that each piece increased the invisibility timer +2sec. Or +5scorch per piece. +1 jolt radius etc. Any subclass verb could work. Make them stackable with weapon perks and exotics, all sources.

That sounds pretty sick, actually. You could add so much variety with that system. The stats could have ranges, so you'd be chasing the highest possible number. As a hunter, I could run 2 invis pieces, 2 volatile damage pieces, and my Gyrfalcons or something. Lotta potential with that idea, and it would have you checking EVERY piece you got for upgrades until you had your min maxed build.

Coming from a hardcore casual player 4000+hours sunsetting only hurts in the aspect of losing access to using weapons you love. Like I still dislike losing mountain top. Even in its current state I find myself going back during old raids, and strikes just to play with it. Where I would love to be able to use it in a day one dungeons and nightfalls, raids. But sunsetting my weapons that I’ve grounded for over the past 4 years would just make feel like saving anything would be pointless. Like I might as well delete my vault because none of it matters. Now I don’t see that as a complete problem if they are going to come up with newer weapons that give you that same fun feeling. But seasonal weapons would have to improve. The last weapon I farmed for that mattered was forbearance everything since has been eh sure I’ll farm for that but you don’t get that feeling of joy from getting that god roll. And being like YES Let’s Go!

Honestly, I think hunter really has been shafted when it comes to the stat distributions. Mobility needs to provide some more benefits, I've been tilting towards the FACADE strand build where I don't use my dodge, thus can focus on recovery. Recovery is sooo important for end game, but our builds don't use it, thus shafting us when we're in need of healing to stay out of combat for too long. Why not make recovery the main one for hunter? Health can be relative to speed/pacing.

I think that crafting should have been more centred around dropping a given weapon with a given perk to be able to craft it into your crafted version of the weapon itself. Grabbing 5 red boarders and just investing some resources to unlock everything is just too easy. Also i would add that although raid/dungeon exotics do need some kind of bad luck protection, all the other exotics should drop as vanilla d1 did, most exotics are either just handouts or run a lost sector until it drops, very underwhelming and takes away all the excitement that was tied to getting an exotic in the first place.

First off, I love these conversations, and I hope you keep them going. One of the things I think was missed when talking about raid exotic drop methods was the fact that for Crota, they have made your first clear of every week give 2 oversouls, and every additional run is a guaranteed 1. You need 20 for the exotic, so that guarantees that you get the exotic in less than 20 runs now, which is totally acceptable.

The way they did sunsetting wasn’t like how they did for TTK. They destroyed a lot instead of making sure to have something left over. And it didn’t help that the guns would only last 3 seasons until they would be useless. Same goes for armor that nobody wanted to have to regain for AGAIN. When TTK came out it sunset a lot of weapons but also at the same time gave a ton of new weapons to grind for. We had not just the raid but faction, vanguard, and PvP weapons. Then there’s the strike specific loot to add into the mix.

I have 7,600 hrs on Destiny 2 in steam since Shadowkeep. This doesn't include my time on PS4 before that. Or D1 time. If crafting hurt Destiny, that's the fault of the players. People complaining about weapon drops and not getting the rolls they wanted and feeling the game was too much of a grind, and how if you're casual you don't have time to play that long and miss out on good weapons. Bungie's response? Crafting Every annoying change Bungie has made has been in response to some kind of complaint made on Reddit or KZbin that people jumped in and bandwagonned on until it couldn't be ignored It's not just crafting but loot in general even exotic armor and weapons... The only reason to not have them is to just not play the game. I used my hunter and Titan only for solstice 2021 just to get the triumph for the Filigree of Light shell and haven't touched them and got 8/41 Hunter exciting exotics and 28/41 of the Titan ones just during that time. I'm a Warlock main so I have all those. Then they have farming for them with legend and master lost sectors. 26:00 i disagree about the stats, alot actually. I feel like everyone looks at the strength or weakness of something in the game without looking at WHY its the way it is. The difference in resilience between Tier 8 and Tier 10 is almost negligible, its literally 6% of damage resist that youre missing out on. Theres very few instances where that small percentage will make any difference, there's 0 content where 6% DR will ever be noticeable, Tier 10 exists solely for Barricade cooldown. Buffing Mobility is a slippery slope too, because you have Hunters who already have the best movement exotic in the game as well as easily arguably the best neutral game exotics, buffing Mobility will make them IMPOSSIBLE to track in PvP for anyone that plays this game any less than 7 days a week every week. There's also the issue that we have so many instant heal sources, Recovery is practically useless and exists solely for Rift cooldown. I don't think anyone, not a single one of you, wants to see Hunters and Titans both constantly running max mobility, resilience and grenade on solar. That's only 3 stats invested in and 4 covered entirely. Making everyone capable of going that much faster also puts the expectation by the community on people to invest in that playstyle because its whats meta, anyone not using the meta typically gets chastized beyond reason for playing how they like. Buffing Mobility would split the playerbase between people who actually play for fun and people who just want that dopamine hit from rushing through everything with little effort, something Destiny is not about. Edit: i had to listen again, recovery being worthless was mentioned and i do appreciate that. And to briefly touch on Hunter dodge, again, a max Resilience/Mobility Hunter will be the absolute biggest nightmare we've ever seen. Dodge is the strongest class ability by a mile, and the class itself is most similar to other shooter games and so easy to use that the playerbase would mass shift right back into a vast Hunter majority like it was just two seasons ago. Hunters made up 40% of the playerbase, 2 seasons ago, while everyone was complaining about Titans. There's a reason for this, especially given its a playerbase that as you guys said yourselves, will use whats tippy top best because why would you ever use anything else? Essentially, i feel like content creators and the playerbase need to stop just saying "buff this" or "nerf that" by comparing things, there's other contexts within the game that the developers have to consider when making changes and we have to as well. Its not as simple for them to just make everyone faster the higher the mobility stat is, it affects the ENTIRE game when something that big changes. Resilience for example, it was worthless before the rework and now that its useful its become the standard because everyone's fiending over the smallest, and i mean smallest incremental increases that make literally 0 difference in a build. Content context is important to include when considering balancing, i wish more people would understand this as its incredibly obvious and has been actively told to us by Bungie in the past.

What if weapons at their base level dropped with a set of serviceable (i.e. definitely good enough to work, but not necessarily too great) perks to pick between (so kinda like ritual weapons currently, or regular weapons pre-Forsaken), and once you unlock that, you could always get it again from your collections menu (exactly like pre-Forsaken guns) - but you could also do a thing (whether special currency, some sort of bounty-like objective, or whatever) to reroll one of the perks to elevate the gun above that base level (within reason, not to the point of best-in-slot-forever)? And for each "season"/expansion/whatever length of time, you could do the thing and get enhanced (or otherwise way more powerful) perks, but these (potentially overpowered) guns would then suffer from sunset? So yeah, a given gun could become way overpowered for a bit, but after the timeframe it gets dropped back down to the serviceable base level that you can continue to use in perpetuity (along with any of the more restrained perk rerolls).

Trials and Endgame PvE share the same issue: Sweaties dont want casuals to get the best seals and loot, but without the cssuals getting seals and loot you have a dead game. Bungo makes Day 1 RoN accessible to more players and the sweaties cry that it was too easy. I understand why the sweatiest want exclusivity, but at the end of the day a desd game is worse. Personally I dont like crafting as it makes drops feel less special, but I think a good balance would be to offer more cosmetics for the hardest achievements so they have something to set them apart.

A 2-3 year break whatever and come back with Destiny 3 (or just DESTINY who knows what they'll call it) with a fresh start, clean slate, none of the issues that are ruining development currently. Maybe it's unrealistic finance wise but D2 will still make some money, they'll have Marathon and they now have the backing of Sony. Surely releasing a new box product would blow incremental updates to D2 out of the water revenue wise, breed new life into the game and attract new players. I would certainly be back for it and I'm sure a lot of the current playerbase would be too.

8:00 I don't necessarily agree with the thought process regarding farming for weapons versus crafting them because, ultimately, the outcome is still the same. For instance, as mentioned in the video, some individuals argue that crafting diminishes the thrill of pursuing loot, as it reduces the experience to simply farming red borders and being done with it. My contention with this perspective lies in the fact that, if we rewind the clock to a time before crafting, chasing the perfect roll didn't elicit a feeling of accomplishment any more than crafting is ascribed as feeling to some. It still felt like you were just ticking off another item of things you wanted. Yet, in reality, most of the stuff you farmed for stayed in your vault, never to be touched again. This remains the case with crafted weapons today. In fact, I would argue that the method of acquisition isn't really a problem; it's that people's priorities on what should determine good, worth-pursuing loot are flawed. What I mean by this is that many individuals seem to only look at weapons through the lens of what deals the most amount of damage, instead of considering what feels good from a thematic or flavor point of view. This is where I believe Bungie has been striving to place more emphasis. I have certainly found myself caring more about the loot I desire when viewing it in that manner because my motivation for wanting them no longer boils down to a hollow agenda of solely pursuing items that offer top DPS.

Crafting weapons could give a lightweight version of the weapon where you don't get enhanced perks at all, once you're able to craft the weapons, 1. you can only craft the basic version of the gun & 2. when the pattern is unlocked then the RNG element of the gun dropping changes, you now get enhanced perks on the dropped gun. If you want an easy god roll you get a lesser version of the god roll, when you want the best god roll it needs to be dropped RNG style.

I would love to see an additional rarity introduced that is exclusively world drop stuff! And they could be "Ascendant" or whatever, version of existing gear that provides either a little bonus power or additional functionality! Like exotic Shards of Galanor grants super energy on knife kills and super kills, but the Ascendant variant gives an extra knife to your knife trick, or allows your knives to ricochet, or lets them detonate enemies, or an extra knife charge, or reduced cooldown, or just buffs the damage by a chunk. Just an extra modifier to the standard exotic to make it more powerful, but make it SUPER rare, and have it possibly drop from anything you're doing. You can still run Shards for your build, and farm it in Lost Sectors or Rahool or whatever, but if you're lucky enough to get that super rare version, you can really push them further.

I think the reason why loot lost its magic is because weapons with the right perks feel vastly different than without them or some perks being required for guns to be usable. We wouldnt need to have frenzy or a dmg perk on every primary if primaries did damage. We wouldnt need snipers with 4th times and focused fury or another dmg perk if 1 mag of a sniper did ok damage. The game feels like it has been designed into a hole with some encounters being build assuming players have some of these options.

If they had done as they had advertised, you get red border weapons as you grind your god roll and it was a deterministic insurance policy that you might never get your desired weapon, it would have been fine. They didn't though, they made crafting massively better because they turned red borders into a weekly retention mechanic. It's why they were okay letting go of Light level on a quarterly basis, they found a better incentive to keep players invested. Turns out, the red border system immediately leads to massive burnout, as we saw since Season of the Haunted.

In addition to Content Creators, there are narcissistic and vain players who just want to appear. The objective, the point, to get a god roll should be have less difficulty against enemies in an activity, to have better weapon feel and performance and power. The Crafting System gives this effect to more players, it is much more preditive and fair than the Grinding System. This is why crafted weapons are good for raids. You're solo, getting a group is harder than people with friends. So all you have to do is complete 1 single raid per week with LFG by any means necessary (maybe just grab a final boss checkpoint) and purchase a red border from the raid vendor. Simple. Do it 5 weeks in a row and you have the weapon that you claimed was inaccessible. You can't expect to get all the weapons quickly because you're solo, but you're not completely missing out.

Lets dive deep in to the expanded universe that the 10 year saga has built up. Episode 1 is Vex? 3-Person Raid team; Kentarch-3; Corridors of Time. My point is, there is such a wide and expansive universe, there are plenty of engaging stories that already have the three classes built in to the lore. Maybe even, we keep our Guardian 2014 for playlists and raids; (our gear), but episodes put us in a simulation type environment? Maybe we discover clues to new roles or build types? Parlay that in to secret missions like Zero Hour where other Guardians observed us work, or even Drifter VS Vanguard where we 'got to choose a side'?

30:31 concerning armor….in d2 vanilla they had a good idea of three varieties of armor types that had static rolls but let you plug it in differently. Next to that we need fixed super cooldowns but intellect needs to change to either class ability cooldown so all players end up deciding just how important their class ability is to them. Ontop of Mobility should be handling, reload speed, and AE. I think reload speed and AE should be taken off of weapons as a weapon shouldn't change your skill while airborne but how much you invest is a skill that unlocks the privilege to be better with any weapon in the air. However handling can stay as some weapons would be more ergonomic to aim down sights or swap with other weapons. Logically these changes make more sense to me but I could be my own bias I'm tripping on

All I think they need to do is get rid of enhanced perks and only have seasonal weapons be craftable due to the ways you acquire seasonal weapons being temporary and crafting guaranteeing you can get a god roll of that weapon in time before the season goes away. Raids and dungeons shouldn’t have craftable weapons, gets rid of the excitement of seeing a weapon drop in the raid or dungeon, and even if u get a god roll weapon in the raid it would still be worse than a craftable enhanced perk version of it. Two very simple things that I think would make crafting significantly better.

I honestly just think that with as many people who have played the game long enough that they basically don’t need any loot ever again, coupled with half of the player base being brand new and having very little; that there is no reasonable balance. If we have a mythic tier of armour to grind for, sure it gives the guys with 5000 hours something more to achieve, but for the players with only 100 hours in and only 5 hours a week to play, they’ll just know that there’s another thing in the thing that they’ll never get. …at which point Bungie will make it easier to get, and it will lose its value. And no group is right or wrong in that scenario. It’s just the way the game is after 6 years.

Back in Warmind, a guy in my clan had over 100 EP runs with no weapon drops.

Yeah, THAT is too much. There needs to be a balance between magic & guaranteed god rolls.

I had a friend quit the game under similar conditions. Couldn't get Ikelos SG to drop so he just stopped playing. Had another friend quit due to exotic drop rates in Forsaken.

I've been a hardcore player since d1. The only reason I play the game is to try weird rolls on weapons i cant do that if i can't even get them to drop. And that keeps me from being in activities i actually want to be in. Which makes me put the game down.

If a weapon is craftable say an arc wave frame, it makes sense for other one in the game to be better but harder to get. So although I like raids having red borders I don’t think they are a good idea for the games loot system.

There wasn't just one attempt at a loot reset. There was sunsetting in Destiny 1 after year one, Destiny 2 was a reset to some people, and then sunsetting in Destiny 2. So that's at least three. Overall it has never gone over well. I don't think it is the right solution. Not for a game like this where every weapon feels and plays differently.

I remember Bungie saying crafting was meant to be a safety net for those who grind for hours and don't get the roll they desire. They didn't say crafting was going to flat out replace random rolls. Not only does a crafted weapon get an extra stat boost (something meant for trials/GMS) but you also get enhanced perks. What they should've done is give random rolls the extra stat boost instead and maybe even allow adept mods to be slotted alongside Trials/GM/Raid weapons. This makes crafting actually feel like a safety net and not the end all be all while giving value/chase to random rolls. Move enhanced perks to Trials/GM/Raid or just removed them. We did not need enhanced perks lol

I'm okay with Sunsetting IF you don't bring back old guns/reskins. I already had good rolls before.

I remember playing the seraph shield mission and the frustration of disconnecting from friends and basically having to solo it for several weeks. The buggy mess that it was. Even replaying it for the ikelos weapons and never getting the smg because RNG is a pain. Thankfully after almost towards the end of this season I finally got it. Though I remember how difficult it was getting during season of the Seraph. Almost near impossible to get it.

138 for anarchy. that was a grind. 60+ for vex. all others have been within around 5 weeks of the raid coming out. except back in d1 it took 27 hard mode clears for crux of crota

I like the reprised strikes. We have run those 2 strikes for like 7 years. I agree farmable gms are not a problem, but man is it a breathe of fresh air to have to think in those strikes

Sunsetting should come back, but not for expansions. They also need to rebrand it, that white symbol on the guns is one of the main reasons everyone hated it.

at 24mins: Ebontis you earned my respect! True!!! the armor is 5/8 of the loot (aka half of our loot since we wear an exotic) and i upgraded my masterworked armor from back then to season of arrival gear with high stats to artifice armor and havent changed it since.. would love to see a podcast about d3 and all the topics that you mentioned: Exotic weapons and armor and how to make them feel exotic from the getgo maybe even a higher version like some mythic stuff/uber uniques, Armor needs something more to be going on that makes it exciting to atleast consider changing/swapping (raid armor yeah they have mods for the raid, but then you have to upgrade that piece and you managed to clear the raid without the extra raid mod slot anyway so why bother), stats in general, power creep and how to manage it being a slow process, how to sunset correctly to make stuff feel exciting again (WoW as an example with the level reset and then the various times a season made you refarm the same gear you already had just to make the number go up but you are playing the same character with the same gear anyway), crafting and materials vs random rolls.. a lot to unpack and what kind of lessons can you learn from this and not make the same mistakes from d1/d2 if you even want to make a d3 or if bungie just wants to go the route like counterstrike 2 with a major update but what then and how to manage all that.. (maybe a new game in the destiny universe so its not rly destiny 3? Timejump to the golden age or way further into the future.. what about the game that destiny should have been.. Sword wielding gunslingers in a fantasy universe with aliens)

Im so curious as to why they got rid of gear sets, if it was based on player usage, because it was done only with gambit that was a mistake.
