The Detroit Lions came out of the gate swinging in the NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers, stacking up a 17 point lead in by the half, and holding the Niners offense to 7. Yet is all slipped away in the 2nd-half of the game, and Brock Purdy's Niners rallied back to win the game 34-31, and advance to the Super Bowl. Craig Carton is joined by Mark Schlereth and Willie Colon to talk about the highlights of the game, and decide whether head coach Dan Campbell deserves any blame for his 4th-down decision making.

Why is this even a discussion? Every other coach in the NFL except for the now fired Brendan Staley would have kicked in both instances and not have a running play at the goal line either at the end. This is a guy who simply was able to push the car out of a ditch with strength but clearly doesn't know how to drive it after it was freed. They need to hire a senior advisor or someone to mentor him.

We've seen Purdy melt down several times so why wouldn't we expect him to do it again? Sure the Niners can win, but you're out of your mind if you think the rest of the world is wrong or shading Purdy for picking the defending Super Bowl champs led by the greatest qb of all time to win it again.

see if you go into the half up by 17 and the other team scores 3 to make it 14 difference, and if you go down to at least put it back to 17 point spread again you go that way. why well momentum. numbers may say go for it, but feeling don't go into those numbers. when you are up stay up even if it stays the same amount of points.

The aggressiveness and “this is who we are!” mentality is great - until you realize how one dimensional and predictable it makes you. It’s easier to coach against because there’s no mystery. You can’t win the Super Bowl if you don’t have some aspect of unpredictability. It’s like Gamble Campbell thought he was playing out a script/in Any Given Sunday 🎬

Mark S: great analyst, great OG. Should be considered for the HOF. But was overshadowed by the Hogs Joe Jacoby, Russ Grimm, etc. Also, a 3-time Super Bowl champion. Mark reminds me of Bob Kuechenberg, who was overshadowed by Jim Langer and Larry Little on the Miami Dolphins. Bob also belongs in the Hall of Fame.
