Martian Manhunter has always been one of my favorite DC characters and I don't consider myself a DC-guy. However, I've never been much of a fan of some of the modern interpretations of the character. For me, the design of his action figure from the 1980s Super Powers toy line is the truly iconic version of Martian Manhunter and the only one I'm really interested in.

I actually never knew anything about Blue Devil. Then I listened to a podcast about him and found a few issues. Now I'm trying to find the whole run. Love it. So much fun! I didn't realize he was in the Swamp Thing series, which I didn't finish. I now have incentive to finish it!! How about Isis? Loved the show as a child. Used very sporadically in the DCU over the years.

I see on 1 comment that someone does remember Captain Comet. Discovered him in s few issues of Secret Society of Supervillains. He made an appearance in DC Comics Presents but I think his last appearance was in Infinite Crisis. Rose and Thorn is another intriguing character(s) which I'm starting to discover. I love Metal Men and the Creeper but they seem to have silver age appeal IMO. I think some golden and silver age characters have trouble staying relevant to midern readers.

Good video as always, would like to see a Marvel one as well! I'd like to see a little more Red Hood out there in the mix myself. As far as Marvel reads, I just finished Predator Vs Wolverine & think it was pretty awesome. Its got a little retcon to it but I think they did a really good job meshing their history together, definitely worth a read if you get a chance to pick them up.

Scarface and the Ventriloquist? I realize that having a dummy represent the dark side of a person is a bit of a cliche. But if I remember correctly, Scarface was in some interesting stories. I haven't read any current comics, so he may be used a lot. "Shade the Changing Man" by Peter Milligan used to be one of my favorites. (I know Ditko created the character.) Milligan stories often had that thought-provoking weirdness that Grant Morrison and Alan Moore used to have. They were members of the British "M" squad that invaded American comics - Morrison, Milligan, Moore, and Mark Millar. Interesting video. Thanks!

I would swap Aquaman and Green Arrow. Green Arrow is underused and we either see enough of Aquaman or he's misused. I would like to see more of Hush and Scarface and Arnold Wesker. I would say Martian Manhunter is seemingly forgotten. Bring back Sheriff Lobo!

A popular character I think is underused/ used wrong is Jason Todd, because I've always wanted to see him more as Robin than Red Hood. I always headcanon Tim in the BTAS world as Jason instead (no hate, to Tim). And I think a more modern version of Jason's Robin could be interesting! Would you ever do a follow-up video to this one recommending some good stories with the characters listed in this video? A casual fan like me could really use an introduction to some of them.

Green Arrow may not be underused... what a strange suggestion... but Connor Hawke DEFINITELY is. The guy was once touted as one of the best hand to hand fighters in the DC Universe. On that track, Richard Dragon, Lady Shiva and The Bronze Tiger (see a theme here?) all underused. On the villain front I would add Prometheus. Lastly as far as Marvel goes, I don't know what folks are talking about. There's some great runs going on right now. Off the top of my head, Immortal Thor, Daredevil, Ghost Rider, Dr Strange, Invincible Iron Man, Wolverine, X-force... all great reads. Not to mention the whole Fall of X storyline, The Star Wars line, Aliens, Predator and Wolverine vs Predator which was very fun... I'm still enjoying Marvel and they make up the bulk of my weekly pickups in addition to my DC pickups and other companies. People are missing out I guess

Many of the characters you listed have appeared in DC comics recently. Ambush Bug, Spectre, Question, Lobo, Azrael, Firestorm, Vixen, Red Tornado (lois version), Captain Carrot, Bloom, etc have all recently appeared in books (and by recently, I mean last few weeks to last few months). Other characters in this list have had a natural ending, Elongated Man is dead and he faces a redundancy considering Plastic Man is a similar character, etc. Deadman was a big part of Knight Terrors, and they even resurrected Wesley Dodds in that event. I do agree that I would like to see these characters appear in books more often, but the reality is when DC tries something different with a new book, many don't pick them up. I think the new golden age books (Wesley Dodds Sandman, Jay Garrick Flash, and Alan Scott Green Lantern) have been excellent, but hardly see them mentioned elsewhere. The Challengers of the Unknown were featured in an issue of Outsiders, and even had their own story in the World's Finest 2024 Annual #1.
