Damn. It's sad to hear. I kinda miss Ghibli movies with nature/machine/supernatural themes like the ones found in Nausicaä, Laputa, Princes Mononoke and Pom Poko.

This is the only ghibli film since firefly graveyard that has been STUCK on my mind. I can't stop thinking about it. Haunting and cathartic. Spirited away has been dethroned for me

Thank you, you are the only one who has any critic. I think the plot was not the best, I love his movies but I expected more emotion, also for me it doesn't make sense why the heron needs to be in the title. It didn't help him much, i feel like. He is really the best animator though, no doubt, visually it was very pleasing or disturbing if he wanted so.

Pfff final movie. He's retired about 7 times in the past and always comes back to do another. I remember I bought tickets opening weekend for The Wind Rises because it was his "last" movie and it was all over the marketing

So what's your problem? You only watch his movies if they are truly his "last"? Or could you just be happy that he's continuing inspite of his high age? Most are happy to get another one...movies like this will never be made again when he's gone.

@@Ray_2112 well that escalated quickly. Forgive me since I am unable to express tone of voice through text. I'm a huge fan of Miyazaki and jump at the chance of watching all his movies. I have no problem at all. I love the fact that he's still continuing. and I'll certainly be there for the next one after this. However, haven't you ever had a friend say they're going to do something a whole bunch of times, but you know them so well you can't help but go, "sure, yeah right"...that's all I meant with my comment. Miyazaki's movies are absolute god tier. And even if he says, "this is my last one. I mean it this time" I'll probably roll my eyes and say "sure" but I'll be glad that he's going and as long as he's making them, I'll keep watching them. For a hot second though, I almost believed him with The Wind Rises because of the heavy marketing of it being his last movie, so I was galvanized to put more effort into seeing it. After a certain point of him constantly saying it's his last movie, you can't help but see the humor in it. Again, I have zero issues. I watch Miyazaki movies the same way I watch Christopher Nolan movies, the second they dropped, I'm there. Because I know it's cinema unlike any other.......again, I just want to stress there is no problem. If I had said my comment in Person, you would have detected my joking manner. Not that I meant disrespect

Congratulations! You're actually the only anime youtuber that covered the movie. I know there's no marketing, but I'm surprised that not even people that make anime content heard of it. Maybe more will realize there's a new ghibli movie once it gets an international release. But the good thing about that is that I won't see any spoilers.

@@FoxenAnime yeah, but I don't think that they are not covering it, because they are not in Japan, but because they are not aware that it is already out. I know it's not possible to make a review if you can't watch it, but I didn't find any videos about it on youtube at all, besides from some (not anime) youtubers from Japan that already watched it and you. But it will be the opnening movie for the Toronto film festival, which will be like a shadow drop of an actual movie for many people outside Japan.

It’s prob cuz a lot of people didn’t even know a new Miyazaki film was coming out A lot of people love ghibli movies like spirited away, my neighbor Totoro but those were decades ago. His last film I’d bet most fans didn’t watch (wind rises)

It depends on the theater. Some theaters have heated seats with food delivery. Those are around 20-25 dollars. Some are just your ordinary theater with regular seats. Those can go as low as 5$. You can also get imax which could add 10 more dollars.

I'm a big fan of Miyazaki movies. This advertising strategy is a bit risky, I think the announcement of the new movie should have been made in a one-minute video with exciting scenes from old Ghibli movies. Not having an announcement video is not a strategic move, it's laziness. I love Hayao Miyazaki and all the Studio Ghibli staff, I hope they advertise. It doesn't have to be scenes from the movie, even I can prepare a simple announcement video in a short time.

I'm upset that the Philippines is not included as part of cinema release of Studio Ghibli's movie, How Do I Live? I really want to watch it and support Studio Ghibli the best way as I can. Why won't Studio Ghibli release the movie in the Philippines? Why only Japan and North America? It's unfair! You know how long I've been waiting for this movie to come out!

Totally agree. Would have loved to have a theatrical release here in the Philippines. I've only watched most of studio ghibli films this past month and I'm drawn to how masterful (mostly) their art style, animation and storytelling through visuals are. Guess I have to pirate it eventually, would have loved to support Miyazaki's final ghibli film.

@@tomgu2285 Just as the video said all the pieces was there and let the theory crafters assemble it. It's probably a type of movie where its message will be strong in a certain period of time. This might be better to watch in solemn environment which cinemas aren't a perfect fit for it, and let the message sink it. I have that when I came back to watch something that I finished a long time ago and then suddenly the experience was different
