Thanks! I really appreciate your ministry, both of leading others in worship and in leading/teaching other worship leaders. My wife and I have had church hurt in the past (over 25 years ago) and are only now are beginning to find our way out of it. We have come to the conclusion that Christ’s Church is made up of fallen human beings (us included), and it isn’t until we get that order that you speak of (Christ as the foundation and us built upon it) , that we could ever attach ourselves to another religious organization again. It takes time for healing of religious wounds. Don’t let it take as long as it took for us! God bless. Marc and Glenda Zaffle

Yes I’ve had a hard time for the last ten years and when I tell people how blessed I am. After my stroke and two brain aneurysms they can’t understand but if they will listen to what God has done for me. Took people out of my life who didn’t belong and replaced with some people who are so good for me. Everything in my life and heart is where it belongs. I love Jesus more and more each day I wake up. So much happier. Just wait on God to show you. I even prayed you told me you wouldn’t give me more than I can handle and I’m here doing good.he knew what I could handle and it did make me stronger. Thanks for your support when I listen to you and your music it makes a big difference. I pray for you and your family every day.

Been in a similar situation recently, where I had to make a tough decision to walk away from the worship team. I was conficted with the flesh and the Spirit. It's great being in a worship team, having a platform & using your giftings....but my spirit didn't feel right. I felt I was so busy building someone else's vision and not what God has placed upon my life. The final straw was when I was told to put aside my songs and personal singing and dreams/plans God has given me. I felt lost and broken and used. Then I saw you live in Pretoria and realised what true, pure worship is supposed to look like. Thank you for following the Spirit and not man.

Hi Kim, I Love what you are sharing! I want to share something I used to volunteer down at the Olympia Union Gospel mission and on my drive down, I would listen to Walk with Me and prepare myself for spending time with the beloved Homeless folks! My heart was so full and the joy it brought me to spend time there. I love your beautiful voice that God gifted you with , you are a beautiful person 😊 In His Love , Barb

Hi Kim, Thank you for these chats you have. Apologies for the long comment. I do agree with you that Jesus must be you foundation. When He is your foundation, everything you do is built on that. Every choice you make, every decision you take, be it in business, ministry, personal life etc. We should never look to people to follow; we should focus on Jesus. We tend to look to people because we can physically see them. We should always remember that they are also people just like we are, and they also have faults just like we do. We should never put them on a pedestal. When that person “fails” you, you should also show grace and forgiveness. With regards to God giving people dreams or telling them to build something, for sure God does that. Not sure if you know Angus Buchan, but he is a great example of that. God “told” him to mentor young gentleman to become the men they should, this started the Mighty Men Conferences. With this said, you should also wait upon the Lord to guide you and give you wisdom and direction on what to do next. Coming back to the first point, God must be the centre of it all and He has to stay the centre of everything. Looking at the school, maybe the person God has called is a great leader and someone that can run this. God will also supply the right people to come into the school as teachers as well as learners. Some of them maybe there for a season. I also believe that there is a great responsibility on anyone in a leadership role, however God also tells us to bring our burdens to Him. When you run any company, ministry or team, it is important to rely on God to provide the correct people. When it comes to renumeration, God also says that you need to look after your people and He will look after you. Personally I believe that you should always keep your focus on Jesus and not on anything else, normally when people start shifting their focus from people to profit is where you are not aligning with God and where problems starts creeping in. This was mentioned by our pastor over the past weekends service. There is a bit more to say, but this comment is really long already :) It is really a great topic. This can give us a bit more insight: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnvSdIKKlM2Kjs0

Hi Kim, I appreciate you❤️ My experience has been that a lot of people struggle with trust including myself and opening our lives and hearts to God requires progressive levels of vulnerability and surrender (letting our walls down), and I think regardless of how we humanize the Pastor it tends to hurt our hearts in relation to Gods goodness when they break our trust. God bless you😀

Always appreciate your thoughts Kim. I am pointing towards Jesus, and He alone. My personal journey has been about understanding empathy, removing shame and trauma, and healing emotional wounds. I like the idea of being here to serve. I think everyone's voice is important, needed, and I'm a far better listener than speaker. Empathy has been a focal point of my life. The development and real-world implementation of empathy. Bitterness is nothing that I have ever associated with myself. At this point in my life I like to think that I have nothing against anyone. I am here for God's glory, not mine. I am aware that I can do nothing of without Christ that gives me strength. All the best. I look forward to seeing what's next. I'm taking it one day at a time down in Tennessee. No, I haven't been to church in awhile, but I have nothing against any churches, and welcome all denominations. My heart burns for God, and I have been utterly amazed to watch what the Holy Spirit has been doing of late.

What I have seen and felt for a few years is that the Lord wants us to return to having all things in common like the Acts church. No big “I’s” and little “you’s”. A place of unity where we aren’t trying to build our own ministries but build up one another and in turn building up His body

Hi Kim Steve here from SA. Firstly thank you for your Spirit filled music. Such a blessing for me. What you say I believe is true. I personally think that if God is wanting you to go build a ministry or a business He wil first put you through Hes training school then send you out to do the foundation work yourself. After that He will send the right people to join you. But first you need to know what you are doing. Every job on earth has a training field and sometimes because of our disobedience it takes a long time before God releases you to go

Pyramids = Egypt. I think it always takes a team with healthy relationships. I like to say "There are no spare parts in the body of Christ". Back in the 1980s I was asked to lead the after-service healing ministry in a certain church of about 400. I previously wasn't on the healing team and I hadn't asked God for it but the Spirit began moving through me in significant ways and the anointing was recognized. So I taught 35 members the simple things that I had learned from the Holy Spirit (John 5:19). Healings went through the roof, to about 50%. We saw things like scoliosis, spina bifida, flu, and all sorts of things healed by the Holy Spirit and Jesus got all the credit. There is no cookie cutter approach and God wants to move through many more than you would expect - roughly 10% of the church was doing it so it certainly was not a one man show. Don't let your old expectations and experiences put you in their box. God is not into boxes... he is into spreading a table for us and for others.

Amen! I like your "upside down pyramid" analogy. In the Bible, God shows us the church is interactive, and there is order to our gatherings. The "college lecture" type of gatherings, is not His structure for us as a church. Jesus (The Word of God) is always the best way to do everything! May the Lord bless you, Kim!

Dear @KimWalker-Smith, Giving thanks to God for your life and ministry, which has been a tremendous blessing to me in my walk with God. From inception, I watch most of your ThoughtsOnThursday, quite insightful. I wanna shime in on EP:21, regarding building stuff. Two scriptural examples in opposite direction: 1. God asked Noah to build, personally, based on actual skill-set. (Gen. 6:14-22) 2. God asked Moses to build the Tabernacle, with Vision only, without the skills; and then supplied Bezalel and Oholiab, and other artisans as skilled manpower (Ex. 31:1-11)

Kim, you are talking about a proper contract between people when they work together. What do you bring to the table? There is an agreed upon beginning and an end, expectations during the contractual period, an exchange of value mutually agreed upon, within the law and with Christian and Christ centered values. The parties are actually capable to enter into a contract. Add details to make a better contract. When things change, review all the terms of the contract. Have way out. Have a best way to reconcile differences. There are books written about these things.

I do agree that there are big red flags in worship, the industry. And in monetising the church. But having opened several restaurants myself, let me point out…it didn’t take the chef to make the restaurant. In fact the normal good chef, would not have the skills needed to run a profitable/succesful/sustainable business. Customer interaction management, strategic planning, capital, financial admin…these components are actually more key to a product’s success than the product. I’m real-life terms, the producer of a general product on a retail shelf, only receives around 18% of the end-user price….and the owner of the product only a small % of that. The rest is distribution, marketing, yada yada Bottomline, I agree, there are big red flags. I can’t help think God’s route to success probably doesn’t look anything like the industry Just typing fast now..hope it makes sense. Thank you for your thoughts,

Amen. I do believe that if we place too much emphasis on someone at the "top" and they fall, then there's a risk of others going down with them. I also feel that we have to be careful not to exploit, or allow ourselves to be exploited in the Kingdom of God. I do believe in building with solid leadership though and when leaders' foundation is built on Christ, then I feel they truly make the best people to follow.

I agree with you Kim. I think of recent times, my scrutiny of whether God is in a church or not, and if He wants me to be in that church has, and is is continuing to become more acute because of this. I think the problem with using people or their gifts is that they are obedience specific, and that results in the hurt. Kind of like the intrsuction manual for an electrical appliance, I can't take my instruction manual for a microwave, and use it to operate a computer. People also need to be honoured in their "honour language", so to speak, and not just how a person deems as honouring. I also don't know what God's vision for the church is with where we are at the moment because I've seen and experienced some very difficult things in the body, and my own church attendance feels like it's hanging on a very thin thread.

Good day. Speak to Jesus how you are feelling. I have a friend that at one stage that God spoke to her and people denied what God was saying to her. At one stage she got depressed and suicidal. And on the highway she tried to commit suicide. God took the steering wheel. And she yelled at Him. And God answered her that she does not know Him. She went on a journey to speak to Him and read His word. She told me that people must ask Jesus directly and He will answer you just like He answered her

When I started getting visions, verses were impressed upon my heart right away. Then, like with Jeremiah, "Look closer," then unpack to discern the gift (or not) over time. And interesting how God speaks o v e r t i m e doesn't he? Two specific visions from 2005-2006 are still playing out, but praise God, I can look back and see he was foretelling me of "sifting" and "fire" (incredible discomfort and rejection coming). We cannot rely on others' experiences or, "Knowledge is Power." We are very welcome to a very personal relationship with God 3-in-1. And, Satan tried to give false visions. False fear only involved with no Word confirmation. Basically just, "I would like you to think I am going to kill you " But, the Holy Spirit always points to Jesus, the Word, and we have others and elders to talk to, amen?

I get the sense that you are feeling exploited by others and it's likely you have been. I have had similar experiences both at work and in the church, and it doesn't feel good. Unfortunately, that is the world we live in. Psalm 37 is a good reminder that the Lord will make things right if we stay loyal to Him. Proverbs 16:8 - Better is a little with righteousness, than vast revenues without justice.

I highly and truly agree , most people who left church that one know, you ask them why, they’ll be like` the pastor/ head of the church did this, did that , didn’t, doesn’t' and I ask you go to church for God or for someone else . I think people should not leave church ⛪️ or God based on what others had done.

Hi Kim! So God lead me to this today. Here are my ideas. God called me to teach and I told Him I would do anything but…. Long story short: I love it now and am finally good at it now despite my low salary. He provides.Yet, others profit off of my gift. I think of Neamiah (sp) building the wall. He had to have helpers. Paul building the church … same thing. What I do wish to see, however, is that those who feel called to build something great would share what they reap. Some at the top make 600 times their employees. That ought not to be. Paul was a servant leader. Humility and not cult of personality should be the hallmark of a dreamer who builds using our talents. They do not see us as replaceable Lego pieces. But then again, nor does God. He values us as we co-labour with Him. That is the difference.

Myself included, over the years God has been cleaning house with me including chasing fantasies. The dream I had going into my twenties I held onto and realized it was more me trying to make it God's. I have devoured the intricacies of scripture to have it really delivery me from the seducing spirits that our flesh can become so entwined with. It's basically idolatry, and I have been humbled to live that quiet life God calls us to be content with. Save the years wasted and get back to scripture basis. So many people have ideas but are they God's or our flesh? Even if they are well intentioned? "Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies have no sense." For your example I would believe God will give both/all parties the nudge to move in that direction. If the person says God gives them that idea but you don’t feel a release to or you have that doubt then it’s something to pause and seek God unless you get the release to from God & it’s likely not something you have been called to be involved in.

Well said Kim :-) I believe we are an imperfect people following perfect Jesus. If anyone puts their sole faith in one leader, they are bound to fall away if that leader fails them. Christ is the head of the church, not man, Christ is the chief cornerstone, not man. So to put all our faith in someone who isn't Jesus is a recipe for disappointment. The Word of God should be our source of truth, above the words of even the most influencial leaders in the church. We are all equal parts of the body of Christ whether we have a platform or not. At my church there are two main pastors, a married couple, I often see the wife serving on the usher team, which I think is a beautiful example of how Jesus came not to be served, but to serve.

i agree there should be only One Leader, Jesus Christ, none are leaders but servants. Influence can be overbearing and make us lose grasp of this Truth, as Moses cried before God for the Israelite's complaining. As their servant, Moses would have accepted the fateful judgement of God upon himself in their place. This makes a "leader", one with the people, we don't separate ourselves when the people fail because we are ALL One Body in Christ.

Sorry Kim… Bad example. Until the chef has the OTHER skills and resources, they are a chef not a business person. Not that anyone has to stay there but the thought sows discontentment and as much greed as assumed of the business person - which our society is now rich with. However, I hear what you’re saying regarding ministry error. When God calls us to something, it will take more investment from the called than anyone else. No primary investment of a leader is a huge red flag 🚩

The truth is that whatever building you might try to build without Jesus being in it will sooner or later be ruined (Mathew 7:24-27). It is important to make sure whether God really wants anything before starting to do it. It is very sad and disappointing when such house is destroyed. It would be even better to test your motives before starting to do something "for God". Sometimes, it might only be the dreams & desires of the heart. ❤

Let it go- yesterday is gone and no matter how many different ways you try to excuse yourself for feeling ripped off it’s ok - that foundation is not built on God - you are so quit letting the lil red dude steal your joy you have arms open wide waiting hearts awakening and new life breeding in and through you- let it go the truth will set you free knuckle up soldier you’re loved and not wearing it because you choose to put on the temper tantrum and cross your arms and make masks to so everyone will jump on your team - it all seems right till the enemy comes to cross examine- just know the things you do see and the feelings about how they did what they done was not of Hod say thankyou for the separation and walk into this newness of salvation because that’s what it is - it’s going to be ok I love you
