The flow 556 is so good I almost changed my mind from getting a CAT AlleyCat556, but the CAT with their spooky1 muzzle device is still only 10.8oz and only 6.12”long and is just as quiet on a 14.5” barrel and quieter than the Hux on a 16” barrel. And the AlleyCat was like $200 cheaper. And I think it looks cooler, and it also has a better frequency response (less low frequencies and less really high frequencies. Meaning it’s not as piercing up close, and also less boomy at distance, meaning the sound won’t travel as far. I was very close to getting a PTR Vent 3 until I realized the PTR VENT 1 is objectively quieter on 5.56 than the Vent 3 and I can use it for .308 and .300BLK and it’s only slightly longer and slightly heavier.) I still think the CAT WB and CAT AlleyCat are the overall best 5.56 silencers currently available

They also have a full size 556 inconel can (FLOW 556 MG), obviously not as light but it does avoid the sparking that you see from Ti cans.

@JNOSNOW
@JNOSNOW 3 күн бұрын
The sparking is a non issue. And of course the full size can is going to sound better than a K can that's kind of how that works. The Flow 556K is amazing at its performance for how tiny and light the can is for a steel can.
@TheSugarWeasel93
@TheSugarWeasel93 3 күн бұрын
@JNOSNOW it's just the gap is larger than other combos. Like my Saker 556k vs Saker 762,CAT WB vs ODB, and LPM Anthem K vs Anthem S. The jump from 556k to 762 is substantial
@JNOSNOW
@JNOSNOW 3 күн бұрын
It's a whole different technology. The 556K still is still amazing at protecting your hearing and much better than "quieter" cans especially than other K cans.

My flow 7.62 quit sparking to my eye after the first 300 rounds. I'm sure it's still more visible than steel cans under nods and it heats up super quick. I'll bet it looks like a glow stick fast under nods. Don't have nods though so I'm happy it quit sparking to my eye.

now that they've retired a lot of their formerly OSS products, I'm curious to see what more they do. Not counting vendor exclusive or MIL/LEO only cans, they really only make a stainless steel Flow K can, full size titanium Flow can, the Ventum, and titanium Flow 22. I imagine they'll bring out a pistol can next to replace their Ca$h and Rad series, but I still feel like their rifle lineup is missing a couple other models

I will never understand the point of short "k" style suppressors. There is no significant sound suppression benefit, so what is the point of running it. I just assume run with out if I am not running a full size suppressor. I do like the flow through designs by Huxwrx. Very effective on my system.

Yeah it's going to come down to weight. The flow is better at having less back pressure, and way less weight. My flow 7.62 is 10.4 oz with no mount on my scale. It's also durable enough for my mag dumps into trash. The velos will sound a smidge better especially indoors, and it will be more durable at the expense of being crazy heavy. The flow outdoors sounds just like my high back pressure cans to my ears without muffs. Under cover it gets boomy. Sparking went away after 300 rounds.
@aventador832
@aventador832 3 күн бұрын
I've got both and my Velos is already showing blast baffle erosion after 1000 rounds, and It's also much heavier. My Flow762 has 5000ish rounds on it with no erosion.
@trunkmonkey56
@trunkmonkey56 3 күн бұрын
@@aventador832 wow fascinating. What are you shooting the velos on? My flow shows no erosion either mostly being shot on 11.5 and 16" 556. I'm waiting for Hux to make more 14x1lh muzzle devices so I can run it on my AK's. SiCo says the velos is their toughest can. I've got a couple really old cans from them that have some erosion, but nothing crazy. I have their new Scythe Ti as well and it's holding up awesome with no erosion on a 9" 300 BLK gas gun.

Whoulda thunk it, the full size is way better than the tiny K. Ammo in the mag still gets sooty though nowhere near as much as a traditional style can.

@forkthepork 3 күн бұрын
Idk man, I've never had a cycling problem with traditional baffle cans.
@aventador832
@aventador832 3 күн бұрын
Not a cycling problem, Its the increased backpressure. Baffled cans degrade the weapon system much faster, It dirties the gun faster, and you are breathing in all that highly dangerous gas. If you shoot a lot, its definitely worth the extra price over standard cans. If you can get to a range that has one to test, give it a shot. The recoil impulse with Hux cans is also much less punchy than standard cans.
