Build and manage a Maximum Security Prison. As the sun casts it’s early morning rays on a beautiful patch of countryside the clock starts ticking. You’ve got to crack on and build a holding cell to detain the job­ lot of maximum security prisoners that are trundling to your future prison on their yellow bus. As your workmen lay the last brick you don’t have a moment to let them rest as they need to get started on the first proper cell block so you can make room for the next prisoner intake. Once they’ve all got a place to lay their weary heads the fun can really start.
You’ll need a canteen, infirmary and a guard room, oh, and don’t forget to plumb in a toilet, or things will get messy, but what about a workout area? Or solitary confinement cells? Or an execution chamber?
Inspired by Dungeon Keeper, Dwarf Fortress and Theme Hospital and with over 1 million players having spent time inside, Prison Architect is the world’s best lock-­em-­up.
Story Mode:
Prison Architect opens with the story of Edward, a man facing the electric chair for committing a crime of passion. This is followed by four additional chapters focusing on different characters and aspects of prison life. From Mafia Dons to power-crazed senators, Prison Architect has them all! To bring these characters to life, Introversion teamed up with award winning professional writer Chris Hastings, producing an enthralling tale of corruption and human misery set against the background of the modern prison industrial complex.
Escape Mode:
Finished your supermax? Got guard dogs roving every corridor and prisoners eating out of your hand? Now you can live the horror by firing up escape mode and play as a prisoner hell-bent on getting the hell out of dodge.
Dig a tunnel, go for the armoury or start a riot and slip out in the chaos, it’s entirely up to you! Figure out how to escape from your own creation, or hit the random button and load one of the 12,000 prisons created by the steam community, whichever you choose it’s not going to be easy...

I always enjoy your videos. I'd love to see you do the opposite as a challenge though in future: make a prison that's completely hell and rundown. Poor grading, Bare minimum luxuries (common room with some chairs and a radio) a yard with a running track and maybe 2 bleachers. Cells to be basic, a bed, toilet, maybe a bookcase. Lower quality food. Relying more strongly on guards with freefire to keep everyone in line, instead of needs. Metal detectors everywhere. No visitation, just phones and mail.

You mean, max out the punishment score? There's a great phone room build where you can close it if there's nobody on the phone tap station. Put your phone tap down, put a pressure plate in front of it, so if a guard is on station, it's active, and then put all the phones in a small room with a servo controlled jail door. You need one more pressure plate inside the phone room to let prisoners out if the guard steps away. You can do it with a phone tap per phone if you want, so every phone that is tapped has an open door, and every phone not being monitored has the door closed. I believe the visitor booths can also be tapped if you use those instead of tables. Been a while since I used taps because of how many guards you need. For suppression, you send an armed guard patrol everywhere once all programs are finished and then cancel it at sleep time within prisoner radius. It'll tick down overnight so they can work/do any programs that meet the challenge brief the next day. Suppression doesn't pass indoors to outdoors or v.v. so you can still have armed guards close by, just not in prisoner radius during sleep or programs time.

I was going to suggest using the Armory room for a Staff classroom (to go along with your outdoor kennel idea). 😂 Since you don't intend on using armed guards, you can probably work it into a much smaller space. Do you need a Staff Canteen?

Power production is currently good. 3700 daytime units. 142 usage 3558 daytime units excess power. Daytime is 6 am to 8 pm, 14 hours. Nighttime is 8 pm to 6 am, 10 hours. There are 3 sps, 3 wts, and 13 swhs. Daytime rate is 3*75+3*75+13*250=3700 production units, but the hourly rate is 3700/24=585.4 and the total production during the daytime, 14 hours, is 585.4*14=2345.8 units. Energy usage is constant at 142 per day, so excess daytime production is 2345.8-142*(16/24)=2251.1 units. That's what the batteries will store as excess for export during daytime. The nighttime rate of production is (10/24)*3*0+3*75+13*100=635.4 units. The nighttime excess is 635.4-(142-94.7)=588.1 units. Total daily excess is 2251.1+588.1 units = 2839.2 units. Stuff+ got paid 2649 generic currency units, which means, given that they didn't add much by way of additional power drain between those times, each stored unit gets paid 0.9 generic currency units. The production cap is 5000 units day or night *per transformer,* but it's more efficient and profitable to match production during the day. Stuff + is still comfortably under it right now. If you get close to producing a peak of 5000 units, time to use another transformer and power export meter. The thing to watch is the nighttime excess. That's down to 580. When it hits zero, the lights go out. That's just 12 large electrical items away (large electrical items use 50 units). Fewer if a big room gets fitted out with a lot of lights between now and then.

If you play with staff needs on, you need staff zoned restroom everywhere, not just the staff canteen and staffroom. You can also build tiny "empty rooms" with just a water cooler, snack machine, radio and couch at remote areas that are a long way from staff facilities, like between sniper towers or the road gates. View them as sentry boxes or guardhouses.
