That bike looks like a "wallhanger", the type that was fairly common in the 70,s and 80,s ...generally in a themed restaurant or roadhouse.

He is lucky the engine case and transmission have any parts inside them at all. Piece it back out and lesson learned. I used to find bikes like this in flea markets. I could tell they were pieced together fake bikes. Usually, they had cracked cases or a major issue.

Obviously Mecum doesn't employ any bike experts to authenticate potential inventory. That's called "Misrepresentation of sale". If you aren't given appropriate time to do your own due diligence with an expert, pass on the sale.
@kurtfoulke513014 күн бұрын
That's called Buyer Beware. If you are foolish enough to bid 13 grand on something that you know nothing about, you can't blame the auction.
@bernardowens164814 күн бұрын
@kurtfoulke5130 I can blame the auction because I spent 22 years working at one of the world's largest auto auction companies. That sort Bait and Switch isn't good business. The company I worked for didn't allow that sort of thing to happen. If a sale was made and it was proven the vehicle sold was "Misrepresented" at the time of sale the transaction would have been voided and proceeds returned to the buyer. That's just good business. You don't allow the good name of the company to be brought down over a few thousand dollars.

I just want to let you know that I recently subscribed and have watched all your videos. I enjoy your content and as a new rider I have learned a lot from watching and picked up some good habits that may have saved my life. I was in an accident earlier today and came out with minor injuries thanks to some of the habits I have picked up from watching your videos. I see you put on a jacket and a helmet everytime you go out on the road and that has rubbed off on me so I started doing it as well. Also your faith in god has been a great inspiration that caused me to start praying and being thankful again more than I have been. Unfortunately my bike was totaled and it was a hit and run. A guy in a white work van ran a stop sign and I tried to avoid him but there wasn’t enough time to react. I hit his rear quarter panel at around 50mph and was thrown and rolled down the state route I was on. He never slowed down on checked to see if I was ok or even alive for that matter. The sheriff said the probably won’t be able to find him. So I ended up injured and without a bike. Gods hand must’ve been over me and kept me safe enough to limp away. Keep doing what you are doing it’s informational and inspiring to newer riders.

Reminds me of the time a friend found a 1916 Indian Powerplus, literally a barn find in a little township in New Brunswick. 13,000, you couldn't lose. I would do a teardown to check engine internals. If you find enough parts that are good, I would collect enough parts to get it running. Not restore it. This is my initial thought before I finish the video. Now to continue on with the video.... :)

Every time I see a video especially yours because A you love Harleys and that you are a mechanic. I had a friend many years ago Bruce Burns from South New Jersey area. Bruce was a special guy because he was a deaf mute. He could hold his face to a car truck or motorcycle and tell you via his wife or daughter translating the words to you. Bruce could diagnose the problem tell you exactly what parts you need to buy. And then 99.99999% of the time Bruce would fix your problems for free. Him his wife Nancy and the daughter Trisha were all like family to me
