Today's video is the one I swore I would never make, but unfortunately the fail videos do better on the KZbin Algorithm.
I am sure I am over doing it in this video, but it is disheartening to have to spend this much time on a car I overpaid for.

Headlight replacement is a bit of a job. Try polishing first, i had cracks into the plastic so I replaced mine. The new lens is relatively cheap but lots of effort to pull them and split the lens from the housing, don’t rush that job! Elapsed time for that job was two weeks, i also put in LEDs

@@PMPerformance LEDs for the DRL’s and high beams. Those tiny cracks go right through the lens. The hardest part of the job is to determine how long to cook them in the oven. Keep a close eye on them so you don’t melt the plastic housing. I melted on a bit but you don’t see it when all back together. There are also some plastic screws that will break regardless of what you do , have crazy glue and baking soda on hand to glue them back on. Just takes a lot of time and patience

Honestly bro.. I think you're just stressing. You need to just take a few days, relax, enjoy the car and not try and fix every little thing you find. Don't let it stress you. I can tell you're stressed out by all the small stuff. Don't be. You're vette owner! Be proud of it. It's an awesome car and it is fast and handles like a beauty. Quick reminder.. these tires are $2,600 for a set. 19s in the front and 20s in the back. You don't want to replace one and not all 4 or it I'll drive funny. The leaving it in reverse thing doesn't work. That was just with the '05 c6 manual. Get yourself a battery tender for like $30. Hook the little cable set-up to your battery ... then just leave it plugged in whenever it's sitting. It's just a 1.2 Amp trickle so its not going to hurt anything.

It's been a bit of a headache at times but all in all the few minor things that can go wrong will go wrong and you can save a ton of money getting the parts from your Chevy dealer and fixing them yourself. Comment back, I'll give you my email. I'd be glad to tell you the issues I've had and the workarounds, things I fixed, and little nuances of the car. All in all.. it's an awesome car. Plus, didn't want stuck in a significant payment with the way the economy was heading. I made a good call at the right time. Then I ordered a C8 and as the prices continued to drop and interest continued to climb I started feeling uneasy about getting into an $80k car. So, I was bargain shopping for another Corvette when I came across this one. It wasn't a bargain but in the Corvette world a C6 is a bargain. And I didn't think I could get hurt as bad on a C6 if prices continued to fall. I will likely get another C7 Z06 in the next few years. Also, all the little scuffs and stuff in the paint.. don't sweat it. Wash it well, clay it like you did, then get you a griots orbital polisher and pick up a few of there correction polishes. My car doesn't have one scratch or swirl mark, the paint looks brand new. The headlights.. man don't get me started.. I have used every kit out there.. don't waste your money on trying to restore them just save up and get the c7 aftermarket headlights. They look beautiful on the c6 but are pricey. I can't tell if that is the original leather on the seats. Hard to see from the angle. Don't leave your key fob in the car.. it'll kill your battery. If your battery does die, there's a key inside the fob and a key hole to open the trunk right above the license plate. Open the trunk, pull the safety door pop and open the door. Found out the hard way when I locked my keys in my trunk once. The fob has to be in the front seat to unlock the door. Door should unlock if you have the fob in your hand and the car is locked. But don't leave the fob in the car for extended periods without the engine running. It'll kill the battery for sure.

Sorry to hear about your bad buying experience. I have bought seven Corvettes over the past 50 years. Each successive purchase was easier based on past experiences. All were purchased off private sellers. Never trused dealerships. Currently own a 2009 base model. I recommend using Plexis to preserve headlights. Chemical guys are great sources for detailing products. Always use a battery tender if the C6 sits for more than a few weeks. The leather seats on the 1LT models is not the best material. I use "Lithium Leather Love" to soften and preserve the leather seats, which is amazing. If your C6 has run flat tires, ditch them for non flat ones. The ride and handling is more smoother and with less road noise. Unfortunately, your experience in not uncommon. Stay calm. I have witnessed countless worse buying experiences than yours. The cosmetic issues can be easily addressed. Thank goodness you do not have any clutch, torque tube or harmonic balancer issues. Best of luck.

12 years old with 35k miles is not mint or new. What would give you that impression? I've seen plenty of 3 yr old lease returns from soccer moms that look like they went through a war. Time & weather will wear on any car. Owners will do all sorts of things to their cars over the years. Even if done with the best intentions, not all go as planned. If it is running fine mechanically consider yourself lucky. If you inspected the car before you bought it you should have noticed the visible imperfections. It's a 12 year old car. Also, you should know that dealers use cheap cleaners, polishes, and Armor All everywhere. You are a grown man responsible for knowing what you are getting yourself into. Not sure what else you expected. It sounds like you should have bought a new car with a warranty or did more research on the car before you bought it. Dealers love buyers like you who complain after they have your money in their bank... just keeping it real. I've made mistakes buying cars in the past... but I don't blame anyone but myself. Get over the minor issues, fix what matters to you, and enjoy your beautiful Corvette. 99.9% of people are only going to see a yellow Corvette, they won't notice the minor imperfections.

OMG! If I had a dollar for every time you said, "it pisses me off", well... I'd have a lot of dollars. I've never met anybody that bought a nice Grand Sport and was pissed off about it. No one to blame but yourself. I don't know exactly what your definition of a "LOT of MONEY" is but all of these things that are "pissing you off" are laughably minor for a C6 of that age. Wait until you have to change the crank balancer which the LS motors are known for. Now that's a pisser. Guess how I know. As far as the exhaust goes...if your Grand Sport has dual mode exhaust just pull the fuse out so butterflies stay open all of the time. It's in the fuse panel behind the carpet in the passenger side footwell. If you want the best of both worlds, put an add a circuit in the fuse panel with a switch so you can open and close the butterflies in the exhaust outlets. Also don't use Back to Black on anything. Get a bottle of Forever Black from Amazon for the wheel wells. It works great and will last. Just follow the directions exactly. For the other vinyl, rubber and plastic Chemical guys makes a product called VRP (Vinyl, Rubber, Plastic) which works great for all of the other stuff. They make another product called Wipe Out which is for removing the oils from polishing or stripping wax before sealing. That will help you get rid of all of your excess paste wax. The roof panel can be polished out as well, but you have to use a dual action polisher with the correct compounds. Use silicone grease on all of your window, door, hatch and roofs rubber seals. Not spray, but grease...as per owner's manual. Those seals are expensive. Just rub a light coat on and wipe off any excess. Also lube the door hinges with some lubricant. Grease the cam and roller that holds the door in the half open position. If these areas get stiff or that roller freezes up it can cause your hinge to break the fiberglass where they bolt into the door. Now that would really piss you off. Get a good leather cleaner conditioner and start conditioning the crap out of your seats. Sounds like they were a little neglected. I use a product called Voodoo Blend by Surf City Garage. I've had good luck with their products but any of the larger car care product companies make good stuff too. I hope these tips help make your life happier and congratulations on your new used C6. Corvettes are a labor of love. Fix all of these little things and just enjoy the journey. Best of luck.
