Our Ikwerre brothers are missing out a lot from their Igbo denials. It's very saddening. They've limited themselves to Rivers state whereas they could have enjoyed the whole of Igboland both in SE and SS including other territories both home and abroad where other Igbos have been able to excel. Ikwere people of old even before the civil war were Igbos. They were Igbos and got appointed into federal ministerial positions on Igbo platforms. Some of their leaders have chaired and held Ohanaeze Ndigbo positions. Why do these people want to destroy their roots? Ikwere is like any other dialect speaking sections of Ndigbo. We have so many. We have Owerri, Orlu, Mbaise, Umuahia, Ngwa etc dialects which are distinct dialects from each other. They don't deny their ancestry. Ndigbo have so many dialects. There are Igbos in Benue and Kogi states. They are still proud of being Igbos. What the Ikwere's are doing is shameful. They wrote to Benin Monarch and Elders to induct Ikwere into Benin Kingdom but were surprisinly told that Ikwere is not Benin from Benin history before them. How else will a people disgrace themselves? Why this disgrace?
