I think he heard coles verse and decided to just change the beat so it’s not really seen as competitive. Cole did his thing and drake did his but…. At least on this song and as over the past year I think cole has fine tuned himself and surpassed drake as a rapper. Lyrically he got him and his cadence and flow seems much sharper since The off season. Drake I think has been considered the best overall artist so long that lately he’s been just branching into different genres and styles. Not really focused on being a strictly better rapper. He went into neutral while Cole just hit third gear.
