@@kaydee1485 i was making a point. A lot of people don’t know what hov was doing is called an “Allusion”. Its a literary term meaning when an author references another author’s body of work, that the author assumes the reader already knows. I see a lot people who say Hov was biting usually don’t know that these lines are already well known rap lines from other artists. Biting is only biting if a rapper is trying to pass off other’s artists lines as their own. Its hard to bite well known rappers rap lines due to everyone (except for cats who are casual hiphop heads) already know who those lines come from. Its like when cassidy said the line “I lost 92 bricks, had to fall back, knocked a nigga off his feet but I crawled back”. Now if you as the listener didn’t know thats a FAMOUS ass hov line from jump. Once someone tell yous its a hov line. You’re gonna assume cassidy was trying to bite hov. Terrible argument. Biting is a taboo in Hip Hop, Paying Homage is positive aspect of life and creative inspiration. But you saying every rapper a biter. What? That sounds like 70s to early 90s, rap isn't an art, it's derivative and unoriginal. Now you wearing a 👕 that's says Hip Hop ain't Art, it's derivative copying. You doing that for the Culture or because you really like Jay Z.(Who ain't into liking dudes no way) Is it all paying homage, because the Biggie is my boy shit don't add up with other artist. Jay Z is a strategic kind of person, but you think it was all showing love to hip hop. Not painting himself in a certain light(overcharging niggas for what they did to cold crush brothers.) Let's not always mix the two up because you love the artist or can see how talented they are. Mixing them breeds confusion, and allows less talented, manipulative and opportunistic people to come in under false pretense. And that makes the music Wacker. Why else we have to always give it up for Hov, no matter how it look. He's dope asf, but look all the artist that came after him. With questionable objections and loopholes they got from him.
