Had a Tiger II. Loved it but brutal in a SoCal summer. 289 ran hot. This one is special!❤

@@musclecarswitheric Original unrestored cars like this one do not run hot even in triple digit Arizon weather. The restored modified cars are the ones with the complaints

Rootes did not build Jensens. Rootes subcontracted the building of the Tiger to Jensen as Jensen had an available assembly line after they stopped building the P1800 for Volvo.

Stuffed !! It's a Californian " knife & fork job" done on an Alpine !! Ask me how I know .... a fun car indeed, despite its shortcomings. Some of those Mark 1A's were factory fitted with 289's as well, as Rootes had exhausted their supply of 260 engines. Clues to being a 1A Tiger are the square cornered trunk, doors and hood, instead of rounded & lead filled body curves, exposed panel join seams, all done because Chrysler "cut corners" to cheapen production costs, and that flimsy soft tip covering in place of the three metal hinged panels that hid the soft top when stowed ... basically the same as the Mk 5 Alpine body shell. Final rendition was the Mk 2.... which is the holy grail of Tigers, with that superb honeycomb grille and no side stainless trim, but stainless wheelarch trim instead. End of lesson, Enjoy. 😉

Footnote, Jensen Motors did the assembly of the Tiger production, who were sub contracted by The Rootes group, who did not have the facilities to do the conversion at that time ... Tigers were assembled on the same production line as Austin Healey 3000's, all at Jensen, West Bromwich, England. Rooted only built some development Tigers in house,, and a few special race cars for Le Mans.

How long have you been living under a stone? Might I suggest you do a web search for Ken Miles? I would have done the search before I posted that comment. I always react negatively to people who use the WT* in their comments. It's just not called for.

"Christisn Bale" played Ken Miles in the famous movie " Ford V Ferrari ( " Le Mans 66" title, elsewhere ) He was working for Shelby and aided the development of the Tiger prototypes, on behalf of the Rootes group , do some homework and come back later !! 🤗
