Since you asked in the video, I think it would be a good idea to make a video which debunks the false theory of Lelouch having a code. While most people are aware he's truly dead, there are some who refuse to accept the facts. As shown in this comment section, there's still a tiny number of people who could be a threat and deliberately confuse newer fans with the lie that Lelouch has a code. To avoid confusion, it would be best to focus that video solely on the anime. The document shown in this video at 3:30 would be best suited as the basis for such a video.

i think the rules of the geass world is stable lelouch no matter what the timeline was definitely inherited the code meaning he's still alive in the end (or maybe not) its a vague ending that will stay like that both answers are correct depending on what the viewer believes besides the retconned version's only difference is that shirely is alive i feel like the creator wanted to fix a few things about the story and continue it with resurruction and roze of the recapture. personally i dont believe the 2008 version as cannon even though its the manga i think the one where shirely is alive and lelouch is alive traveling the world with cc and roze of the recapture as cannon.

Hey If you think about it.. Shirley and orange boy retrieved the body after Lelouch sacrificed himself right? Also charles code is transferred to Lelouch. This happens in the movie. But, in original series Orange boy can alone retrieve the body (ofc he wouldn't have left it behind), And Charles died the same way in the movie and the Anime.. right? Only major difference was Mao. But that doesn't matter. In original anime Lelouch still got the Code (he was unaware of this) and Heal. They Guy who is Driving the Cart in the last scene with CC in the back is actually Lelouch. He never lost his mind In original verse. This was CC contract afterall, he has to Be with her. BUT the director said it! He is dead. But he Lived.. it doesn't make sense.. where did Charles code go? It obviously transfered to Lelouch on his throat (when Charles grabbed him while dieing) and it activated when Zero killed Lelouch. Killing Lelouch was important for the plot.. but In reality he lived, Inherited Charles code. In the original DVD of the Final ep last scene, we see Lelouch (Half face) which was removed. They did it intentionally.

I think the Movie AU has made some slight changes in his morality that makes his resurrection more viable. For example, in the original timeline he destroys the Geass order after Shirley's death and he comes to view Geass itself as a "curse" or "burden" he must carry alone and must eventually be made to dissapear from the world. However, in the Movie Trilogy he doesn't end up with such a negative view on Geass itself, but instead, by the end of Resurrection, he sees Geass as a force of change that must be used responsibly, and enforces this vision taking the mantle of L.L.
@traphimawari7760 Жыл бұрын
Now to me that's a proper end to a character who achieved a primary goal and has nothing left to do but atone for his sins and burdens, rather than just straight up k1lling them off. Because there is still the threat or potential of geass, it still exists meaning that peace he achieved through many a sacrifice can be threatened if he does not live to deal with it and just leaves it all to C.C. I think this is the perfect arc to end Lelouch's story since he is now L.L. who will honor his contract with C.C. and now he abides his time to uncover the secrets of geass and hopefully guide it to the direction of potential rather than threat. He is simply sidelined now and the story of everyone else continues on as they now hold the spotlight thanks to Lelouch.

She has a happy ending. Code Geass is not a romcom, so a happy ending isn't defined as "getting the boy/girl" In the final episodes she says has accepted life once and and embraces the future, so she is no longer the suicidal character from the start of the show. THAT is the happy ending of her arc. She even says so on the 2009 DVD, she says Lelouch is dead and that she mourns his death, but that she finds comfort that he died with a smile because he created a better world. In other words, she accepts his death and found peace, his death doesn't make her ending unhappy And on her personal page on the old official website it's written: "..Knowing that Lelouch does not hate her for giving him the Geass, she is now able to show her true feelings. With the realization of "Zero Requiem", her time with Lelouch, who was able to forgive and accept her, came to an end, but the memories created with him has, without doubt, saved her from eternal loneliness." So it's really a happy ending for her, even without Lelouch!

I think the part of them leaving it ambiguous and up to theory crafters to interpret during production and later retconning is true, as there are still plenty of puzzle pieces to figure out how Geass and Code works throughout the anime. But then most of the vocal fanbase got too attached to the idea that he died at the end, to the point of getting irrationally triggered at the slightest mention of Lelouch not being dead, that the creators decided to retcon the original open end idea.

It's a different universe. And how on earth is the writers explaining that he's dead PR? They've been repeating that for 15 years now. Lelouch and Zero are two different displayed personas by Lelouch to the world, Zero was always seen as a hero and Lelouch through the finale of the 2nd season was seen as all that is wrong with the world, war, hate, corruption etc. The idea of of Lelouch 'definitely dying' was all of the portrayal of 'Lelouch' as previously mentioned, dying from the world, which is stated that the world started progressing towards peace after his 'death'. Based on the end of the anime, I think there's Zero (pun intended) chance Lelouch is 100% dead. And I do just mean R2. C.C. is talking to him in SOME form. And I don't think she's the type to just be "talking to an angel or ghost." So, either he's the cart driver, or he's in her head like his mother was. But since that wasn't HIS Geass power, I have no idea how that would've activated... and even assuming it DID somehow... there's no guarantee he could actually switch into another body. Because it wasn't his power. One thing that could actually work... is maybe Charles could've removed C.C.'s Code enough (or done enough damage) that she was allowed a Geass again... but this time somehow she ended up with Marianne's instead of the ability to make everyone love her. Honestly, I think that's way more convoluted than Lelouch either faking his death, which he's surely capable of... 5ccs of Tetrodotoxin to slow his heart rate enough to be imperceptible for a few minutes, and Suzaku being precise enough to not actually hit his heart but appearing to... or Lelouch having Charles's code. Or even C.C.'s by then. Like, instead of Lelouch taking her Code and killing her... couldn't he just take her Code and leave her to age and die naturally? She'd get like ~60 years as a normal human... and die with a smile beside him/in his arms. I don't see why he's need Charles's Code nor why taking C.C.'s would guarantee her immediate death. The series doesn't seem to ever outright state that a Geass user taking someone's Code INSTANTLY kills them, like removing a Tailed Beast from a Jinchuuriki is supposed to... (If Sakura isn't around, being useful and saving the entire damn series. Take that, Sakura haters)... so why not just allow her a normal life and death? Happy end.

C.C. talking to a dead Lelouch is just normal mourning behaviour. EVERYONE talks to dead loved ones. On the 2009 DVD C.C. herself even explicitly confirms that Lelouch is dead for real and that she mourns him. There's no way around her words, it's 100% certain he's dead. C.C. already has her happy end, it's her accepting life and the future again. She says that in the last few episodes. Thinking C.C. wants to die at the end of the anime is completely missing how her personal arc ended.
@Gloomistic Жыл бұрын
@IsilionNELE The thing is, how overly passionate you're getting about this by replying to every single comment, is honestly why the author was blatantly confused about the ending. It's very obvious they intended to leave the ending ambiguous on the Japanese extended ending. Not only does the author state this, but it'd be disingenuous to believe the rider resembled him completely by coincidence with C.C's words, so it makes sense to debunk this he'd need to make an official statement. I, too, agree that him actually dying fits, but I also see an appeal in his "death" because the identity as Lelouch can never return, but he would've lived on with C.C as another person. I think we're trained to believe Lulu has a trick up his sleeve, and the author knew this more than anyone, so he knew what he was doing with the ending scene. It also fits more that Lelouch would have the crane atop their ride more than it would C.C even if she is alone, signifying Nunally's wish, when we don't even know if C.C knew about the crane pact, nor if she can make one. We basically have to assume she found out off screen. You have valid points about how Code Geass works, but there's still gaps and blanks watchers can fill in because it was never fully explained, similar to the ending. It wouldn't have made sense for the author to have once had an intent to leave the ending to be ambiguous if this weren't true. The issue is that people with your mentality NEEDED to choose ONE canon ending, causing an uproar, which we know by compiled official statements in this video, ended up confusing the author, resulting in him making official statements, some contrasting others. He then went on to make separate timeliness where Lelouch lives to appease both fans, knowing he'd double downed on Lulu' death like on the 2009 DVD. Most people didn't see this quote, so you'll still have many who went with the ambiguous ending and moved on to other anime, so you're wasting your time trying to debunk anyone who disagrees or didn't peep the authors words. And thing is, even for those who did research, if an author releases entirely different points and goes "NO NO ITS THIS ONE I SWEAR ITS THIS ONE" it's already too late. You've created this blur, and people end up sticking with their original take, or seeing your statements as a mess and pick what they'd like from it, no matter which you leaned towards. You give them a route and it's too late. I think your take is great, and I believe you're one of the few who actually understands what the characters wanted, but I believe the author should've been more precise from the start. As you said, even if Lulu is dead, C.C is still happy, because even though she loved Lelouch, her wish ascended more than love. She can be happy no with either ending and that's what matters.

I think lelouch is still alive in the original. While many interviews did mention him dying, death is still part of the process of becoming an Immortal. Lelouch met his "end", but returned as LL. The interview where it's said that they wanted to keep it vague if Lelouch was still alive or not, led to many fan theories with key factors like Charles strangling lelouch and may have embedded a code there and lelouch began covering his neck after that with his outfit. Nunnnaly seeing visions of the Zero Requiem plan when she touched his hand, like how immortals can let memories slip. CC being happy in the final episode and talking to lelouch while an origami crane is behind her head (signifying a wish being granted) It makes so much sense. And to top it all off, all the above mentioned points were confirmed in the resurrection manga. Even down to a scan of Charles strangling lelouch and likely embedding the code in him as he was sent to C's world which is essentially afterlife (as Clovis was sent there too after lelouch killed him). And a little extra of the cart driver wearing the same clothes as soulless lelouch. The biggest difference between movie and main series is essentially Shirley and for her to be dead in the manga means that it's likely that the resurrection manga is a sequel to the anime itself. By the way Lelouch is in fact immortal and not just eternally young as shown in the manga where he falls off a cliff and gets crushed to a pulp before coming back to life and CC cries that he got an immortal body now. And since he can even grant Geass in Roze of thy Recapture, he's in fact a true immortal code bearer that can use Geass but somehow isn't immune to Geass too.

Lelouch never had a code in the anime because the anime made that literally impossible. It was firmly established that everyone who gets the code loses the geass and Lelouch never lost his geass. (even the movie which isn't canon has that rule, movie-C.C. points out that Lelouch can't have a code because he still has his geass, that's why in the movies Lelouch and Shamna had a NEW power and not a code) - Death if NOT part of getting a code. The anime literally shows us this with Charles who already the code in Turn 14, a full episode BEFORE he shot himself! - There are no interviews where they said they wanted to keep Lelouch's death vague. The only time where this was said was during the movie promotion because they were allowed to spoil that even in the non-canon movies he was dead but that there movie-C.C. literally resurrected his corpse (which also shows he didn't have a code because he had had a code C.C. wouldn't have needed to do that!) - Nunnally see no code visions in the last episode, that myth has been fully debunked years ago. Even the writers have explicitly stated that. Nunnally can sense the truth when she touches someone's hand, the anime has shown us this THREE times before: once with Alicia and twice with Suzaku. Even C.C. explained that code visions are the memories of the RECIPIENT, so Nunnally wouldn't have been able to see memories which weren't hers. - The resurrection manga is merchandise, not part of any timeline. It is in direct contradiction with the anime and with the alternate universe movies. The manga is just like the "Lelouch of the Rebellion" manga, which doesn't even have mechs! For example in the Resurretcion manga Lelouch falls off a cliff and dies and revives which is in direct cotnradiction of the movie where it is shown that poepe; with the new pwoer (Lelouch and Shmana) do NOT revive! Shamna died and did not revive. Movie-lelouch and Shamna also both get geassed. All of that prove that their powers not codes. - C.C. is happy in the epilogue because that's the end of her personal story arc: she went from a kuudere who wished to end herself to someone who once again accepted life. On the 2009 DVD C.C. even explains that Lelouch is dead! She says that he's dead, that she mourns his death but that she found comfort knowing he died with a smile because he achieved his goal of world peace - Charles touching Lelouch has nothing to do with code transfer, that's just nonsense fantasies without anything in the anime backing it up. Also, code people don't die, so there soul is not sent to the afterlife. - the cart driver is not wearing Lelouch's clothes. The cart driver is wearing traditional asian rice farmer clothes.

The anime's established lore disagrees. It clearly states that you lose your geass when you get the code and Lelouch didn't lose his code. C.C. disagrees. On the 2009 DVD she explicitly confirms he's really dead. The writers disagree. They've officially confirmed that lelouch is truly dead and never had a code. They've even denied a lot of myths, such as denying that codes need to be activated and denying that Lelouch sent code visions. The fandom disagrees. The lie that he's alive in the anime has been fully debunked years ago.

@@1est1 Wow, you REALLY didn't understand anything about the anime. Literally everything you said is wrong - Nunnally did NOT see his memories and the anime is very clear about that. C.C. explained that code visions are memories of the RECIPIENT of the visions, so Nunnally couldn't see scenes she wasn't present at C.C. explained that code visions contain random shock images, which were not present in the scene you erroneously call memory transfer Nunnally audibly gasps and reacts BEFORE the alleged "memories" are shown, so she is not reacting to them. That all tells the audience that those images are NOT memories but non-diegetic images, i.e. images for the audience and not part of the anime's universe - The movie, Resurrection, is NOT related to the anime and it is super obvious to see. Have you not watched the movie??? Shirley is alive in the movies Mao didn't exist in the movies Villetta wasn't shot by Shirley in the movies Schneizel knew about codes in the movies And so on and so on. Furthermore, THE MOVIE EXPLICITLY TELLS AND SHOWS US LELOUCH DOES NOT HAVE A CODE, not even in this alternate universe of the movies. It is repeatedly and explicitly explained that Lelouch was truly dead and got literally resurrected from the grave by C.C. If Lelouch had had a code that wouldn't have been necessary. Shamna was shown to have the same new power as Lelouch and it is shown to NOT be a code. Shamna dies, impossible for code bearers Shamna gets geassed, impossible for code bearers. In the movie's picture drama, Lelouch gets geassed, impossible for code bearers. Did you think the mark on his neck was a code because of his shape?? You mustn't have paid attention during the movie and the anime then. we already had another power with the exact same shape which wasn't a code. That power is called a geass, and a geass is not a code. All C's World related powers have the exact same shape!! How did you not understand that?? - C.C. talked about not being alone at the end of the movie because that was the ending of her personal arc. She started as a kuudere whow as tired of life and at the end of the anime she once again accepted life and the future As the official Code Geass website explained: "Knowing that Lelouch does not hate her for giving him the Geass, she is now able to show her true feelings. With the realization of "Zero Requiem", her time with Lelouch, who was able to forgive and accept her, came to an end, but the memories created with him has, without doubt, saved her from eternal loneliness." - The DVD isn't a "poem" about some random "boy" LOLOL. It's C.C. explicitly explaining that Lelouch is dead. She even explains that knowing Lelouch died with a smile during the Zero Requiem because he achieved his goals of creating a better world gives her comfort when dealing with her mourning about Lelouch's death! So how is that a "poem" about a random "boy"??? LOL - The audience doesn't decide what canon is LOL. By definition canon is the "One True Story". It's pretentious and childish to believe you have the authority to decide what canon is. Only the AUTHOR has that AUTHORity, that's even where the word came from! You know despite what I said about R2’s story, I still think this season has one of the best endings I ever seen. As for what I think about Lelouch live or die. I’m more in the middle of this. On one hand, I appreciate the sacrifice he made in order for everyone to have a better future. But on the other hand, I kinda of wish there could have been other way to end the conflict without him being the center of evil. But like you pointed out with the creator’s comment, to Lelouch it was the logical move. So when it came around in the alternate timeline, where Lelouch was brought back. While it was great for him to live and to be with C.C., but that just means that all the things he did to end the conflict and with him dying was for nothing, as there’s still conflict with the Geass shards. So him, as L.L. And C.C. has to find them. Again this is just my opinion, so I’m fine with either option on whether Lelouch dies or not.
@tbush6657 Жыл бұрын
I haven't read the manga or scene the alternate timeline films, but the manga is similar to my theory of Code and Geass. The Geass is from the contract with his own Code bearer. He only loses his Geass when he fulfills his contract with C2, which is usually killing her, so as long as the contract with her is unfulfilled (or she is still alive, not sure which). This phenomenon is separate but almost always overlaps with the Geass growing strong enough to kill a Code bearer, as usually the one you kill is the one you have the contract with (as is often the nature of the contract itself). So Lelouch can technically inherit the code from Charles through physical contact with the mark of Code, and since C2 is still alive and in contract with him, he still has his Geass. Another point of note is Code is transfered via direct contact, usually pressing foreheads together, but Charles took his by force, hence it being on his hand. It doesn't show up on Lelouch's neck as he needs to die for it to activate, just like C2 in the church and Charles on the sword platform. Also when losing Code, they don't die immediately, they probably return to their normal mortality, and in most cases commit suicide as they already yearn for death like the Nun or succumb to their recent unhealed wounds like V2, or disappear completely like Charles. That may be the origin of the Skull Code bearer, maybe Charles may have become a corporeal skull as well if he "disappeared" while not losing Code.
@IsilionNELE Жыл бұрын
Contracts have nothing to do with code transfer, the anime makes that very clear. we know that Charles's contract with V.V. was to "slay god" and we know that never happened, so this contract was never fulfilled either. And yet Charles exchanged his geass for V.V.'s code. Thus contracts don't matter for code transfer and Lelouch would have lost his geass if he had had received Charles's code. "Code is transfered via direct contact" The anime NEVER shows that or mentions that. That's just pure speculation without any basis in the anime. "Charles took his by force" Contradicted by the anime. Yes, i know C.C. says "why did you steal V.V.'s code" but the anime shows us that these words can't have been literal. C.C. prevented Charles from stealing her code by sealing it, this means codes can't be stolen or she would have lost her code in Turn 15.

The anime is VERY conclusive "Why else was she Not sad at the end?" And this just proves that the community is correct when they say that the "lelouch is alive" people don't understand the anime! C.C. is not sad at the end of the anime because of the end of her personal arc. She went from a character who wishes to die to a character who is happy to be alive. That was Lelouch's gift to her. And on the DVD, when she confirms he's dead, she says she does mourn him, but that she draws comfort from knowing that Lelouch died with a smile because he achieved his goal of creating a better world. Of course they can, it's even easy to prove. Before people existed codes also didn't exist. Now codes do exist. That proves that the number of codes in the world is not "a constant". There is no "new" season. You're thinking of Roze of the Recapture, but it is not related to Lelouch of the Rebellion. Roze is part of the non-canon alternate universe which was started by the 4 movies. In that non-canon alternate universe there are many differences, such as Shirley being alive, Mao not existing, Shirley not shooting Villetta, etc THE biggest difference between the canon story (the anime) and the non-canon story (movies + Roze) is the ending of C.C.'s arc. In the anime C.C. found peace and embraced life once again, she mourned Lelouch's death but accepted his wish of redemption through death. In the movies, she rejected Lelouch's wish and admits she literally resurrected his dead corpse (hence the name of the 4th movie) from the grave. So in the canon story Lelouch is dead forever. That was confirmed by the writers and even by C.C. herself on the 2009 DVD And in the non-canon story Lelouch would have been dead forever too, but C.C. resurrected his corpse against his will

Interesting. From what I heard, it seemed like he died in the original series and that him being alive was fan theories. What I got from watching Ressurection was that Lelouch did die in recap movie 3, but it was thanks to the the changes the recap movies made (such as Shirely living) that allowed for the circumstances for him to be brought back (this being reinforced in the scene of Suzaku beating up Lelouch since he assumed Lelouch somehow faked his death and C.C came in and explained that wasn't the case). Maybe it was because I slightly misinterrupptted a few things or maybe a slight dub line change got me (may not happen as majorly as back in the 90s/early 2000s, but it can still happen).

Lulouch has to have survived at the end for the shows Name to make Sense, CodeGeass normally you can not have both yes, because Code bearers are rare you would likely never meet two, one to give you the geass and another to take their code. taking the code from the one who granted you the geass removes your geass as the code bearer that granted that power is now dead thus nullifying the contract. but if you get a code from another bearer than you could in theory become immortal while having your geass powers in tact. This situation would make it so C.C would never be alone and she would always be there for Lulu as well as an anchor. having suzaku around as well as the one who acts in the light while Lulu and C.C act in the shadows to always keep the peace. between the three of them no one can really stop them since Suzaku is effectively immortal and invulnerable as he was commanded to live so unless Lulu dies Suzaku will be the protector of earth forever even if he wishes for death as the only way to die would to get lulu killed but he couldnt do that as that would act against the command. in typical Lulouch fashion he created an overly complex web of crap that catches basically all loopholes.

the name of the anime means it's a story about codes and geasses, not that Lelouch has both a geass and a code because the lore of the anime explicitly forbid anyone having both. Do Renya, Nunnally, Suzaku and Akito also all have a code and a geass? Obviously not. The only difference being that he still had his Geass but that too is kinda explained in Re;ssurection CC states he inherited a partial code but honestly I think he transcended the restriction when his Geass evolved and was used on God. Prior to this the only evolution of Geass we heard of and saw was the permanent activation which Lelouch already had. So on a very base level I just think the original timeline argument is flawed. I know we all love to talk about "creator quotes", but in an anime like this it's just flatly untrue, the same man that said Lelouch died ALSO said he didn't plan for the R2 timeskip and it was due to the changing time slot for it's TV premier. (Look up "Code Geass interview Celiss Galvea") They don't have the power to decide canon, like I said the guy people quote himself complained about the power upper management had. Also saying that "it was meant to be open ended" is for the movies has the same problem, we as viewers are deciding what "counts" and what "doesn't", this doesn't "count" because "it was probably said because of the movie", something unprovable. Now to be clear, I don't care either way, plenty of AU's like manga or games where he lives, movie resurrection, or just fanfiction, always love those. If I need him to survive, which I don't, I have options. But I do just flatly reject trying to use some creator quotes that fit their narrative and treating them as gospel and just rejecting anything else. Especially since, in just the anime, there are a lot of interesting debates on the whole situation with Code. Like why do we never see someone get Code? Why is it the scene will show C.C. in the church and everything before and after she gets Code, but not that moment itself, and why does it never cut to like a 5 second flashback of Charles getting the Code. We still have no idea how that works, how the Geass User takes the Code or the processes involved, a much more interesting debate on both sides than just saying "creator said _____ so stop thinking". There is no proof in the anime continuity that Lelouch couldn't have gotten Code and it just didn't activate. Or C's World could resurrect him for 'tomorrow'. Or C.C. giving him her Code after he was stabbed. Or any number of other purely made up explanations that just aren't covered. But there's also nothing saying any of that did happen. Maybe he did just die and that was that. That's fine to, although less to talk about.

"There is no proof in the anime continuity that Lelouch couldn't have gotten Code" You not understanding the anime doesn't ean anything. Everyone else understood it. It's explained you exchange the geass for a code, thus you lose the geass. Lelouch didn't lose his geass, thus he didn't get the code. Even C.C. confirms that he's truly dead. "it just didn't activate" Code activation is nonsense which is contradicted by the anime itself. "C.C. giving him her Code after he was stabbed." He was dead after he was stabbed, so that would have been too late Also, her own words, where she confirms he's dead, tell us that she didn't do that "Or any number of other purely made up explanations that just aren't covered." And here you shoot yourself in the foot and show everyone that you don't understand fiction. Yes there are a literal infinite amount of things which aren't discussed in the anime. The very fact they're not discussed mean they are not relevant and don't affect the story. You may as well say that the anime never discussed the possibility that in the very first episode it was Lelouch who got shot in the head and not C.C. and that the entire anime was the fever dream of a dying student. The thing is, the anime never mentions anything in that regard, it's one of the infinite unmentioned possibilities, and thus it is NOT part of the anime, i.e. it's not what happened. Your fallacy is thinking that everything which isn't mentioned is true or possibly true, but that's just not how fiction or canon works, not how writers create their works.

If you can't, we don't know." Once again you show everyone here you don't understand fiction. "Show, don't tell" is advice, not a law. "She said he'd "pay the price" not "you're dead forev er" You clearly are unfamiliar with the entire canon of the anime. She also says: "A young man DIES . He had the power to change the world, to create a new order. The world feared him, hated him. But, I know he DIED with a smile on his face. Only those who have realised their dream will truly understand that feeling of utter contentment. So, this is not a tragedy. And whenever I FEEL SAD or cry at night, I sing a song. A song of man's making. Zero Requiem!" (my capitalization) She confirms 3 time she's dead. She says he's dead, that's mourns his death ("am sad and cry"), and that she comforts herself knowing he died with a smile because he achieved his goal of creating a better world. "also you can be 'revived' from death you heart can stop, and this is magic. Again show where that's shown you can't." Easy There is not a single case in the entire anime where someone without a code didn't stay dead after dying. The movie is another matter, of course, but we're not discussing the movie here

Mostly though it's just up and leaving c.c. alive and alone seemed odd to me.

Why not use the translation of the "Geass Memories" tweets delivered by the fandom document? That translation was done by fans who actually speak Japanese and which is obviously better than some google translation. As for Taniguchi's words during the movie promotion, you correctly point out the contradiction with everything they've ever said before. He actually implicitly rescinded that promotion statement by later confirming that the option of keeping Lelouch alive was never even considered when they made the anime. So we can be sure that his words during the movie promotion were indeed just for hype and have no other value. As for Lelouch in the movies, he actually does NOT have a code, flawed or otherwise. C.C. herself even says so when she talks to Kallen. We know from the anime (and the movies didn't change this) that you acquire a code by EXCHANGING your geass for it (Turn 15), and C.C. explains to Kallen that the issue of Lelouch exchanging his geass for a code was never resolved, i.e. he doesn't have a code. So, at first she wondered about the possibility of Lelouch having Charles's code, but then she points out he still has a geass which is impossible for code bearers, and then concludes her explanation saying that he doesn't have a code. This is also the only way you can make the movie fit with the lore of codes established by the anime (and the movies), and it also fits perfectly with what we see in the movie itself, i.e. the power of Lelouch's mark functions completely differently than codes do (as you explained in the video). And let's not forget the show staff have called this a "Failed One", not a code or "flawed code" or even "failed code", the word code is never used! Note that even the movie itself never refers to Lelouch's new power as a code of any sorts. Thinking it's a code of sorts is a big misunderstanding of the movie which repeatedly shows us that this Failed One had completely different properties and effects than codes. I think the whole misunderstanding of "it's a flawed code" comes from some people desperately wanting Lelouch to have some sort of code so they can claim their debunked theory of the anime was right after all, and then this misinformation became part of the echochambers of fandoms and thus it keeps getting repeated and most people stop questioning it obvious errors. The relevance of "Renya of Darkness" to the movies is doubtful, seeing that the movies are a universe which is completely separate from the anime universe to which "Renya of Darkness" belongs

Essentially the child in him died, as all the rage and everything was from when he was a child, and the adult LeLouche was born upon his resurrection.

Don't forget that the movies are a non-canon alternate universe, e.g. Shirley is also alive in the movies but dead in the anime. In the canon story, the anime, Lelouch is dead forever. In the anime Lelouch will never get resurrected because C.C.'s arc ended differently. In the anime she accepts Lelouch's death and on the DVD she even says she finds comfort knowing Lelouch died with a smile because he achieved his goals. In the non-canon movie, however, she refuses to accept his death, which leads to her resurrecting his dead corpse against his will, and thus violating Lelouch's final wish of redemption through death. Because of that crucial difference anime-C.C. will never violate Lelouch's final wish and resurrect him

I agree with the reasons why people think he’s dead and should be. I do think his living makes sense too, because dying leaves us wondering if he never fulfilled his contract to CC, she doesn’t seem to mind her supposed eternal loneliness anymore, and his final act was meant to break cycles which would include her seeking a way to die by having someone take her code. This interpretation still works with his values because he can’t interfere with the world anymore without completely undoing everything he did to make zero requiem work, the world needs to believe he’s dead, and that includes the people he loves, so he still sacrificed any chance at a normal life same as suzaku, and he can live on quietly with CC effectively fulfilling all of his objectives.

At the end of the anime, C.C brings up Lelouch, as we all know...and it appears that she **COULD** be talking to him, however - in the film series, when she was harboring that lifeless husk of Lelouch, C.C's entire demeanor is different than at the the following Zero Requiem in the anime. In the film, she isn't as carefree and nonchalant as she was at the end of the series, in-fact she's the opposite. While the film and anime are different - you could draw conclusions on what happened in one, from what happened in another.

I think he did die. Moreover, I think that he did inherit charles's code, but passed it to Suzaku (which would admittedly require a lot to happen offscreen). Another interesting thing to consider is what would Suzaku's geass power be if he recieved one? The power given to someone seems to align closely with their desires; Lelouche wanted to lead a war and was given a power to compel obedience, Charles wanted to end the Britanian infighting and was given the power to rewrite history, C.C. wanted to experience compassion and was given the power to compel love, Bismark wanted to be a great warrior and was given the power to see what his opponents will do. But what would happen if someone's desires were manipulated by Lelouche's geass? I think that Suzaku's geass may have been something akin to the immortality part of a code, which would explain how he survived the lancelot explosion. It would also make him an even better candidate for taking the role of Zero, because there wouldn't need to be any consideration to who would succeed Suzaku.

This was beautifully explained in the anime's official guide book: "For those two who bear the heavy sin known as killing their fathers, they share the belief that they can forgive each other by imposing the greatest punishments on themselves. Death for Lelouch who wishes for a tomorrow with his sister, life for Suzaku who wishes to atone for his sins through death."

I'm in the idea that Lelouch is still alive 1 because I want to believe that he is still alive 2 because I think that the authors had made the final vague. In fact, there are some elements that bring us to choose what we prefer. I believe in this because Charles takes by the neck lelouch with the hand of the code, and you really think that the authors hadn't done this without a goal? And then when Lelouch is dying and his sister touchs him, she sees his memories and this is a power of code, not geass (I think that this is a overwhelming proof, but maybe I had misunderstood). There is also CC that is talking with someone in the end (for sure not with a ghost, and I don't care about what the DvDs said, becuase they go to bring changes to the original story). About the fact that when someone obtains code, he lost geass, I have to say that it was never said that this also applies to geass from other code, so this point is confused and can't be used to motivate others theories. I recognize that Lelouch wanted to die to atone fot his sins, so I think that maybe the code was activated after his death, not for his porpuse, and now he is with CC. Of course I know that the perfect ending is whit his death, but this is MY theory, and everyone can believe in what he wants (in fact the end it's vague)
@IsilionNELE Жыл бұрын
1) irrelevant. the author creates the canon, not the consumer 2) the writer and the director have been repeating for 10 years that lelouch is truly dead and not immortal and doesn't have a code. On the 2009 DVD C.C. herself even confirms that he's truly dead. So, no, it's not "vague" 3) codes do not need to be activated, the anime clearly contradicts that myth with Charles who got the code in turn 14 and only shot himself in Turn 15. 4) You believing something doesn't make it a fact. If I believe that Arthur is a dog in a cat suit, that doesn't mean it's true. YOU don't decide what the story is, the author does. There's a difference between facts and opinion

@@IsilionNELE 2) did you see the video? Because it's explained that the authors wanted to make It vague (or they have different opinions). And than I don't care what it's said in the DvD, because it is not the original story ( it's like an anime to the manga, the changes are not part of the original) 3) your point doesn't show anything, what are you trying to Say with this? (I don't care) And I want to make you Remember that Charles' case Is different from Lelouch's case, because his geass was from VV, and there aren't other cases of people with a code received from someone that Is not Who gave them the geass, so we can only speculate My theory Is the same that happens in the movie, but the movie Is based on a different timeline where there Is a continue and in the original story not. @@user-hm1kw5ss1e yes i watched the video. Did you? The fanbase has an extensive database of interviews where the authors explain that itis NOT vague. It's ONLY during the movie promotion that the director (but not the writer) suddenly played coy and said it was vague, BUT after the movie promotion was over the director once again confirmed that it's not vague and that lelouch is truly dead. he said that when they made the anime they never even considered the option of keeping him alive. the DVD IS the original story It's not because your pirated version on the internet doesn't have the extended epilogue that it's not part of the story. the anime never ever even hints at the possibility of the rules being different when you get the code from your geass giver. You might as well "speculate" that the rules depend on what day of the week you get your powers. if it's not mentioned in the anime, it's not part of the story. So no, the rules are NOT different for Charles and lelouch Your theory is the same as the movie??? Did you not see the movie?? Movie-C.C. explciitly says he doesn't have a code because he still has a geass Movie-C.C. and movie-Lelouch both explicitly say he was dead for real and not immortal, and that C.C. resurrected his corpse against his will the movie and the picture drama SHOW that he doesn't have a code, e.g. he gets geassed the picture drama, which isn't possible for code bearers. he has a NEW power and not a code. the movie completely destroys any notion of Lelouch having a code

@@IsilionNELE 1) from what Is reported in the video the statements of the authors are not so precise, and than there Is also what they said in 2019, that of course could be for the film, but it is in contrast with the others; so yes, it is vague. 2) about the DvD, I've watched code geass from a legal platform, that shows only the original anime (Who are you to make some affermations about me without knowing me, arrogant?), my answer Is the same of the last comment, and you didn't show why It Is wrong 3) if this Is the only "Absolute" explanation, It Is weak, poor and a defect, because it follows the deductive method ( I don't want to talk about philosophy, but It Is only to Say that It would be a forcing and consequently it would not be good), so yes, you (the anime) have to explain why it's not different, or at least make It 100% establishe, while in the anime they don't talk about It. And what you Say about Nunally that sees the Memories of Lelouch? 4) maybe my theory Is more simplified than that of the film, but Is bery similar: the fact that Is Cc to bring back Lelouch to life Is because if was Lelouch that wanted to be resurrected, his sacrifice would be vane (or false). Then what Is that tatoo that Lelouch has under his neck? In the movie CC doesn't Say that he has not the code ( i have seen It Yesterday, I know what i'm saying) and Lelouch says that he doesn't KNOW if he Is Immortal and if he will revive. And the fact that he was geassed, Charles was geassed too, so why couldn't Lelouch be in the same situation. But this Is the movie, it's not Canon. Why are you so annoying? it's not a problem for you if I think differently from you
@IsilionNELE Жыл бұрын
@@user-hm1kw5ss1e The video also doesn't report on the entire database the fandom has. There are interviews in Continue, in Animage, in Mook Animedia, in Febri, etc. And there are the official tweets from the show staff like during the Geass Memories event. There's the official guide book. There are live commentaries during events. And the list goes on. So no, there is literally ZERO vagueness. They always hammer on the fact that he's dead, with the one exception of the director during the movie promotion event. And after the movie promotion the director once again stated that they never even considered the option of keeping Lelouch alive when they were making the anime. if you think that pile of evidence is "vague" then you are willingly sticking your head in the ground It doesn't matter where you saw it, it's part of the story. It was added for the 2009 DVD and thus is part of the official canon. It's not up to the consumer to decide what is or isn't part of the story, only the creators can decide that, and here they decided to add a monologue for C.C. where she explicitly confirms he's truly dead. That's how fiction works. Your reasoning on what an anime needs to explain is completely wrong. In your reasoning everything which is never addressed is true, so that means C.C. is an alien from Mars (never addressed whether she is or isn't), that Lelouch is a Japanese schoolgirl cosplaying as a Britannian prince (never addressed), that Rivalz is a collective hallucination who doesn't exist as a real person (never addressed), and everything else your fantasy can come up with. All of that has the exact same basis in the anime as your idea that it matters who gave you the code and/or geass, i.e. never addressed. It is obvious to anyone with a brain that if a fiction sets up rules and then never even hints at the possibility of there being exceptions, that thus means there are no exceptions to these rules. You can't just pretend unexplained, unaddressed "alternate rules" exist because the real rules don't suit your personal wishes. YOU may think it's important who gave geass and who gave the code, but since the anime never ever mentions this is simply isn't. otherwise you may as well claim the rules are different for Lelouch because of the colour of his socks. Nunnally doesn't see any memories!! How can you even make such a big mistake?? Code visions are explained by C.C. They contain random memories of the recipient, so Nunnally cant' see stuff she wasn't present at They contain random shock images, not so in the images of Turn 25. they have the blue nerves tunnel effect, not so in the images of Turn 25. Nunnally gasps and reacts BEFORE the images are shown, therefore she can't be reacting to them. The images are non-diegetic, for the audience only, to tell us what she realized And the reason she realized is because she can sense the truth when she touches someone's hand, as has been shown in the anime 3 times before, like with Alicia Lohmeyer. Having such an obvious thing wrong is the reason why Code Geass fans say that people who think lelouch is alive don't understand the anime at all. The mark on Lelouch's chest in the movie is his new power. if you paid attention you would have known that and seen that Shamna has the exact same new power. Her mark is on her belly. Both Lelouch and Shamna get geassed, so no code. Lelouch was dead, so no code. Lelouch had to be resurrected by C.C., not on his own, so no code. Shamna dies, so no code. lelouch still has a geass, so no code. Movie-C.c; DID say lelouch didn't have you, you just weren't paying attention . She explained to Kallen that he still has his geass and thus the issue of exchanging the geass for a code was never resolved. These rules date back to the anime, but the movie universe copied them since they didn't alter the scenes were it was explained. yes, exactly, you just debunked yourself! lelouch does indeed say he doesn't know whether he's immortal or not! if he had had a code he would have known for sure because codes make you immortal!! But his new power is ... NEW, and they don't yet know all the properties! Charles was not geassed in the anime. you clearly see the geass fail just as it did when Lelouch tried to geass C.C. Even the writer joked during a live commentary about what a drama queen Charles is by pretending to be geassed and pretending to be dead just to mess with lelouch. Again, you thinking Charles was actually geassed proves you didn't understand the anime. the reason I'm being "annoying" is because you don't get the difference between objective fact and subjective option. Lelouch is dead and has no code, that is an objective fact, told to us by the anime's rules, by C.C. herself, by the creators. So anyone saying otherwise is, knowingly or not, spreading misinformation. You can't wave that away with "my opinion" because subjective opinions don't exist when dealing with objective facts. Just like you can't say that "stones fall up, not down" is an opinion, it's just wrong.

In my opinion he did not die in the original anime series for 2 reasons. 1. We see him change as a person throughout the series especially cause of CC, so who's to say he won't change his older beliefs to fit the new reality and to just keep living with CC, after all, they both evolved together so why not keep doing it? 2. As we know he has fooled the public in the anime series a lot, so why not fool the viewers too? It's on brand for him to do and it'd be yet another cool thing to add to his resume.

1) because he repeats his mantra, “The only ones who should kill, are those who are prepared to be killed.”, throughout the entire anime, and one final time right before het gets stabbed. So no, he didn't change his mind 2) Because it's not just about lelouch fooling people, it's about the rules created by the anime. It's been established that everyone who gets the code loses the geass and Lelouch never lost his geass. Also, C.C. herself says on the DVD that he's truly dead in a monologue during the extended epilogue. Thus, we have 100% certainty that Lelouch is dead and not alive or immortal, and that's a fact set in stone by the anime

For starters, Nunnally already reacts and gasps BEFORE the images are shown, thus proves the images are for the audience only and show us what Nunnally understood. also, C.C.'s explanations about code visions mad eit clear that these images cannot be code visions because code visions are memeories of the recipient, so Nunnally can't see stuff she wasn't present at. Furthermore, the writers explained that Nunnally understanding had nothing to do with codes or geasses, so no code visions or memory transfer.

The movie's ending is necessary, because in the original, C.C remains the only screwed character. The only excuse is that she "accepts" Lelouch's death just in order to get the series to an end. The intention was to somewhat portray a "happy ending" for every character after Lelouch's death, but the truth is that every remaining character wished for Lelouch's death, even Nunally, with C.C being the only one that did not. This is the reason why the original ending does not truly comfort C.C, as it was deduced that her wish was "granted", since Lelouch told her that he doesn't hate her for giving him the Geass and was able to forgive her. That would make her happy? Of course not, the last lines between those two where exchanged when C.C engaged in a fight with Kallen, which was meant to buy time for Lelouch to enter the Damocles, and the last dialogue between the two in the series was: "Now go, but make sure that you come back! That'll make me smile, right?", then Lelouch responded with: "Yes. I promise.". Even though he "returned", that does not fulfill the true promise that he made with C.C, therefore, her "happiness" and acceptance to such an end is contradictory to both her character and her *true wish.*
