That was main main observation as well. We see her laugh *at* people all the time, but I don't recall ever seeing her laugh with someone like this before. It makes sense, given that she's dealing with a 13-year-old witness, and a 19-year-old that appears rather vulnerable to me.

@@penguins9645 I think she had respect for the defendant. Regardless of the assault (which he openly admitted to and didn’t try to paint himself in a better light) he seems like a somewhat reasonable person. Everyone has a bad day and the plaintiff just has bad vibes and the 19 year old looks very beaten down emotionally.

Pause: has anyone ever heard of a school allowing a 13 year old to leave school during school hours without a parent to go retrieve something from home? No school I ever went to would have allowed that. Call my mom to let her know sure, but even if she had said just walk home and get it yourself, the school would not have let me leave for something like that.

Could be he was there before school hours. I’m thinking he got there early, lives only a block away, so they told him to go get the paper before school starts. If he walks there anyway there’s really no problem.

School I have ever went to nor any school my children have gone to ever allowed anyone to leave school grounds to go home because they “Forgot” something.. once you are on school property you are the schools responsibility there for if anything happened to you during that time the school is liable so I DO NOT!!! @@shreddersaurusrex323 likely the police wouldn't get involved for so little a sum... and it would be petty.. mind you giving this kid a flogging was a pretty stupid idea (no matter how much I guess he needed it.. if people got a flogging because they needed it we'd have assault cases every few minutes....lol) but seems he was ticked off with the kid and the girls choice... it was silly of him as it showed him off as being a bully - never a need to get physical no matter how much he deserved the flogging I guess.... you're right there.... sorry i was just having a good laugh as josh looks so dodgy.... and pathetic - he needs to wake up and prove he can be a good provider.. living on disability is not a life choice sadly - especially in this case as if it was so bad he would have claimed this years before whilst sitting on unemployment ... strange he claims now - i wonder who gave him that advice....

Who assaults someone over $40? The plaintiffs were wrong to take it of course, but to physically assault someone over $40 just seems crazy, out there crazy. Have I ever had someone I knew steal from me? Hell yeah. And I was broke, it was $100. A bit of angry words and the end of that friendship, but not physically laying my hands on someone, or my husband assaulting the male of the couple that stole off me. When someone does that just write them out of your life and consider that you now know exactly what kind of person they are and in the end you learned a lesson and learned it cheap. At the most call the police and have them charged. I’m sorry this is so long but my mind is blown that he would assault someone over $40.
