In Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! we learn that Monika was made aware of the simulated nature of her reality. This knowledge broke her mind and caused the game that we know and love. Today, Austin wants to dive head first into the simulation and see if the nature in which Monika detects the artificiality of her reality can be used to figure out if WE are in a simulation!

If you are inside a simulation, you can't know if your simulation lags or not. Lag is a difference between a simulated time and a real time. You don't have access to real time. So you can't detect lag. For you simulation will be running with the constant speed of one simulated second per simulated second, no matter how much it lags.

There are practical reasons for realizing that we live within a simulation, you even mentioned it yourself in the video. You said the plot of Doki Doki is basically a company realizing that they live within a simulation and testing to see what Monika would do if she too was aware of that fact and had the ability to control that simulation. They are running that test because they are considering controlling the simulation that they reside within, just like she is. The same applies to us. Acknowledging the existence of our own simulation matters, because then we could take measures to control it too.

1. Rendering engine that reality uses would be just a name to us, perhaps even less then that. 2. Reality has no graphics but its capable of having light and ways to detect light and store its information, Ray Tracing to be precise. 3. Reality is the most real thing, there can't be something more real since being real is a boolean: it can be either true or false. Now what's real for a being varies, for the simulators their reality is real and our reality is fake, for us our reality is real and their reality is fake. Their existence is simulating our existence and our existence is simulating their existence. 4. No unless you are given some sort of intermediate privileges.

Yup... and if you play through it several times yourself, you typically don't get the same exact things happening each time. There are differences within each playthrough, each simulation... and just to hammer home that point, each time you reset the game and play again you are running a new simulation, a new reality for these 4 girls. If you take it to the point of them being as real as we are... it's kind of disturbing that we put them through that time and again to find all the secrets. We record it, put it up for others consumption, and ultimately move on because it's "nothing more than a game" to us. It's kind of grim when you start taking said game and applying real life circumstances onto it.

Honestly if our world was a simulation, I'd imagine that the creators would have made it something crazy to test out alternative theories etc. and our "rules" of science and the like would be just interesting ideas they'd be testing because why not. And when we start thinking about our existence and question everything, trying to make theories of alternatives, they will just look at their screens and think: "Ha ha. That's cute." Yeah me and my dad were discussing this, and although we both aren't bothered about if we are in a simulation or not (I'm of the opinion that it feels real and is *my* reality, then I don't care whether I'm in a simulation or not, my dad says that there has to be a "real" level above a simulation somewhere, so it's very unlikely that there are nested simulations, and because we can't definitively prove we're in a simulation then we may as well just assume we're not - because it doesn't change the outcome for us)... we both agree that if somehow it were conclusively proven that we are in a simulation, then we wouldn't feel bad or scared, we'd be like "well okay then I guess now it's time to see how we can break and mess around with this simulation! 🤷🏼‍♀️😈" Idk if that makes you feel better or not but I think it's at least a fun way to look at what we do if we find out it is a simulation 😅. The idea of reality is also an interesting philosophical concept, I think being quite nihilistic actually helps me with this because it's freeing to think that nothing has inherent meaning, and what I do or don't do doesn't matter in the end - but the lasting impacts of my life do matter to other people and the planet... so whatever my reality is, simulation or not, it doesn't matter - how my actions affect the people around me are what matters if that makes sense? And also being as present as you can be due to nihilism is a nice thing, you can appreciate all sorts of little things and absurdities 😊. Don't get me wrong, I have anxiety disorders and it's not always easy to be calm and present, but yeah, the nature of our reality isn't something we can change or control, so worrying about it only harms us? I worry about personal relationships and my own life a fair bit still, but accepting and being okay with the possibility of various theories of reality has been really good for me 😊

So, the double slit experiment is basically "If you watch me I can't do it" Particles are things that are consice, they exist in a point, while a wave is something that propagates, it exists in am area but you can't pin-point it, it's everywhere within the area it exists in. If you put a cannon that shoots particles through a barrier that has 2 slits and mark the place the particles impact on the other side, you get a proyection of the 2 slits. If you do the same with a wave, you get a pattern called "interferance pattern" that forms because a the wave will collide with the barrier and in each slit will now be a new source for the wave. These new waves will interact with eachother and either amp or cancel out each other. If we mark the spots in which the wave reaches the other side, you get the interference pattern. But in some special cases, like electrons, if you leave them alone and map their impact points, you get the wave interferance pattern, so you look at the thing to see whats happening, and it shows the expected particle pattern. Confused, you look away and it shows again the wave interference pattern. When we "interact" with the particles to figure out which slit they will cross, we"modify" the outcome and make it a particle pattern, but if we leave them undisturbed and just see the result, we get the wavy interference pattern. Thus, there will be phenomena that we can't truly measure and get a "pure and undisturbed" outcome. The mere fact of measuring it while it happens will change the outcome. Quantum Particles get weird and shy, man
@Devin_Stromgren
@Devin_Stromgren 2 жыл бұрын
If I recall correctly, that sort of "observation changes the outcome" situation is what inspired simulation theory in the first place.

Its funny actually, the electrons behave like a wave but they're still particles, the "wavyness" of their movement its a consequence of their "wave" function, property that in quantum mechanics defines the probability of finding the particle there once u measure it. Instead of thinking of a particle becoming a wave we think of a particle having a wavelike prescence.
@CromaRLZ
@CromaRLZ 2 жыл бұрын
@@alexisphysics8574 every object has a related wave In an atom, electrons occupy a space (the orbital), and we can fin the electron somewhere in that space, until we measure it, we can't pin-point where exactly is the electron, so we treat it like a wave. A peefect example is a person inside a house, from outside, you don't know where that person is, but you know they're inside the house, so you can think of them as a wave. When you go in and fin the person, the wave collapses into the particle that it's them, and you know exactly in which part of the house they are.

You do know that whatever you do doesn't matter any way, real or not, nothing anyone every does or have ever done lasts. Kingdoms fall and those buildings they built will eventually turn to dust. Those Kings and Queens are only partially remembered. Once someone dies, they no longer exist as they did, they exist as a memory which is the same as a simulation, a theoretical concept that may or may not have been real based on your interpretation of that person or the information you got from the world. Human memory is notoriously unreliable, so what you think you remember might not be true in the first place, it's only based on what your interpretation of those events were, they are almost never 100% accurate and that information is fluid in your mind.

Could you explain it My understanding is that the experiment was going to prove if everything is a simulation by using the fact that light acts like a wave and a particle so if they measured the same light source using 2 distinct methods (measuring the wave property and the particle property simultaneously) the simulation would contradict itself and stop one of the measurements thereby proving that we live in a simulation and how fast the simulation runs
@Yan_Alkovic
@Yan_Alkovic 2 жыл бұрын
@@airplanes_aren.t_real Well, yes, but that wasn't my point. I honestly seriously doubt that this would work were the world a simulation, cause, like, we have no idea how much RAM the computer running this simulation has, it could be operating on completely different physics where, so I'm super doubtful of such experiments. Furthermore, the scientific method is intended to figure out the inner workings of _this_ world, it has nought to say about any other world. My point was about the physics that we _do_ know: if you have just one slit open in the Two-Slit setup, then any particle ray (photons, electrons, neutrons, even single molecules) give a smooth continuous picture, as if they were particles, and yet when you have the two slits, all of those "particles" start diffracting like Austin showed in the video. That demonstrates that our macroscopic concept of particles and waves as distinct entities just doesn't hold up at the micro-scale, fundamentally they're the exact same thing but we can only observe one or the other type of behaviour.

Holy cow, I'd love to see the AI ethics video! I'm a computer scientist and think about this kind of thing all the time. Once AI is actually true AI, I'm all for the "treat AI like people" route, since they'll basically just be technological mirrors of our biological species, but I'm so interested to hear your take on it.

Well, I personally believe that an AI should be treated as what you coded it as, be it a toy, a slave or a human. But, then again, due to your job being centered around that, you probably think about those things more. But anyways, everyone has different and valid opinions

On a technicality, life is a simulation. Our brain doesn't know what exactly is outside our skull. What we experience is based on the information our senses are able to collect and how well we are able to process it. Examples being there are colors we can't see that other animals can (IE: mantis shrimp) and sound Frequencies we can’t distinguish that other animals can (elephants). All this information is processed through electronic signals and chemical reactions. Theoretically, we could be brains in jars and be none the wiser.

That the world appears designed is reason to believe it is designed. But that doesn't mean it's a simulation. It's real. But it was made by God. But God has not abandoned this world. He came in the person of Jesus of Nazareth. He loves you and is reaching out to you.

@@Afterword. But what is the email address for Jesus so that I can ask to have my character upgraded to multilingual and for Him to consider giving us all a Character Customization screen. I wouldn't even mind if a lesser developer/angel we're to reply to my email instead of Him or The Father, I just want to finally get some customer service/support for once. My character is currently incapable of learning any new languages and current character customization methods are very pay-to-win despite God not wanting us to focus on money when gameplay is supposed to be more important.
