About the point, Hawa(A) was not blamed and initiation of humans was not out of sin rather out of forgiveness, it is said that women bear child because Hawa (A) swallowed the forbidden fruit, it is a form of repentance but along with it Allah was merciful and raised women status. Well that's great lady but you talked about many things except for whether the woman in islam serves any higher purpose than being a good wife. And how do you understand that men can make themselves pretty in any way but if women do that it's considered zina? How do you understand that a woman's testimony is worth half of that of a man, and that Islam blames that on the fact that women have a deficiency in intelligence and or memory? How do you understand that unsubmissive women are to be beaten physically by their husbands? How do you understand that Islam made it legal for parents to give their prepubescent daughters into marriage before they even realise what's going on? Volume 1, Book 6, Number 301: Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri: Sahih Al Bhukari Once Allah's Apostle went out to the Musalla (to offer the prayer) o 'Id-al-Adha or Al-Fitr prayer. Then he passed by the women and said, "O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women)." They asked, "Why is it so, O Allah's Apostle ?" He replied, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you." The women asked, "O Allah's Apostle! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?" He said, "Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?" The women replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her religion."

Short answer: no Long answer: in Arabia, polygamy and polyandry had no limit and there were really no rules for it. However Islam did not remove polygamy unlike polyandry. In the Torah and the books of the prophets which is said to have been revealed to the children of Israel by Allah, the example of the number of wives you should have is shown to be one as most of the prophets had one wife. However even though Islam made these practices in Arabia more moderate, didn't Allah know of the future and how women's rights would become equal to that of men's infant technically in pre Islamic Arabia it was like this. Muhammad's first wife was much better off than Muhammad and Muhammad had to stay with her because of her riches. But once Muhammad gained power he reduced the status of women to half that of a man. He also made it so Muslim men can marry outside of the faith (only to the people of the book) but Muslim women can't (because barbaric tribalistic tendencies) now that I think about it, Islam might be a human's most natural form, because it's a human's most primal form.

Now as for what religion you adhere to be it Atheism (The belief in no God) Or theism (The belief in one God) Or some form of agnosticism. Natural law doesn't really care, but you will remain in submission to the ordinances or parish. On a tangent I usually find the theist to be more relevant than the atheist because they can at least say or have personal experience leading them to their faith, where as the atheist can only claim that with their finite understanding, they have unilaterally determined the nature of an infinite reality. On relevance - all humans, present and past and their revelations are seeing something that disagrees with the others revelations? And they're the ones that are not blind? Don't think so. Anyways, whether you believe in a sky being or not - you should realize that this scheme, like any other humans are involved in, is misused for control and power. It's as bad as a fan obsession, drug addition, self-delusion, narcissism, and any other thing we sentient beings are exposed to. Reason is relevance.

I am sorry but as soon as you said your Muslim American identity you lost me. I would have thought that people living in the USA would swear their allegiance to the constitution and that would come first. In your case it doesn't. It comes second. On that point alone I believe you should be deported to the nearest Islamic country. You also state you had no friends at school. You said no Muslim friends but if you technically abide by the Quran, then you had no friends. I remind you of Surah 4.89 and what it says you should do to all non believers. Now either you follow the Quran or you don't. I mean you tell us it is God's word. I also remind you of abrogation. You cannot pick and chose the Surah you like or want. That is not Islam. Until the leaders in the West stand up and call Islam for what it is then nothing is going to change. Abrogation tells us what it is and that is validated by classical scholars. So therefore the picture that apologists would have us believe best reflect Islam could not be any further from the truth.
