@@KarlRockhealthcare in NZ is WAY more expensive than NZ where it's basically free. I'm diabetic and I'd be paying thousands for my care in Australia. Also salaries in au are higher for sure but housing and dining out are extremely high. So I'm not convinced the savings are really there, at least not in the way kiwis like to say. The grass always seems greener on the other side. FYI I'm an American who migrated to NZ in 2022 and we've visited Brisbane and GC.

An Indian friend told me her first observations in the US was fact there were far fewer people and the traffic was far more organized (actually moving and with no horns beeping). She said she often had a feeling of emptiness with what she considered the lack of people.

Manisha said something similar when she first got to New Zealand. She wasn't used to the lack of people. It was too quiet for her, haha. But I know she loves it because it's hard to wake her in the morning! She's busy sleeping like a baby in the quiet.

Regarding public transport being 50c, that's only a new thing and it was only a trial for a period of time. I live 40 mins from the city and it, up until recently, it was like $6.50 per trip. On the city planning perspective, there is only SOME thoughtful planning but a majority of the suburbs are thoughtless sprawl (that's extending further out due to that poor planning) that cause traffic jams daily because of poor design. Southbank is one of the few places that is well designed for walkability, the 'beach' is great, to be clear though it's not very common of a place in Brisbane or its suburbs. Brisbane and Australia is a fantastic place and would be a great holiday destination.
@Dobuan7517 сағат бұрын
Without a doubt, this Sydneysider loves Brissie and Melbourne equally. Each city has developed its own such distinctive persomality and vibes so as to render any competition meaningless. Anyone saying one is better than the other is still living in the 19th Century.

So glad you visited my city! It is great to get both of your opinions on a place I live in and I'm so happy you loved it. It's strange how we can stop appreciating the things on our doorstep and only complain about the negative things. I'm so glad you loved it and hopefully you guys visit again soon. By the way, I'm not sure if Tony mentioned to you, but those $0.50 fares for public transport was only introduced this year - as a 'cost of living' initiative from the state government, but more to win votes and the election. They didn't win the election, however the new government have continued the initiative. Without it, the fares were some of the highest in the world. That CityCat ride you took on the river may have cost about $5 - $10 per person!

Best beach in the world is Whitehaven in the Whitsundays near Proserpine in Nth Queensland. Try to do that before you die. I lived in Brisbane for 15 years. As far as cities go, it is one of the best. The 50cent fares are a recent thing, and not necessarily staying. Enjoy them while you can. Brisbane is to host the Olympics in 2032. I won't be around, but they are certainly getting the infrastructure in place for that. I hate all cities, but if I had to choose from Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide (I haven't been to Perth but I believe it's beautiful. I have a sister who lives there), I would definitely choose Brisbane. The Sunshine Coast has lots of amazing beaches and things for the kids. I also lived there for four years. Queensland is far and away the best state.

Regarding the US visa interview--keep checking the appointments as they open up from time to time--they recently opened 250,000 new appointments for example. A faster alternative may be to go to a third country like Singapore and interview at the US embassy there, which is something the US goverment explictly allows and even encourages--they made a KZbin video describing that specific scenario for Indians.

If Karl thinks the cost of living is cheap here in Australia, visit a tabacco shop, the cost of smoking is over $400 a week per person. Australia is the biggest rip off country on Earth. OMG, I’m from Brissy, live in Fortitude Valley (next to Gasworks but closer to the city) but just got to Delhi and was born in NZ 😂 Damn I would of totally taken you both 4wding Moreton Island, it’s so much more beautiful than the wrecks and also headed up to Rainbow Beach 4wding. It’s stunning! If you ever come back you must let me know and I will show where the 4wd beaches are like. The 50c public transport has a lifespan on it, it will go back up to $$$ but the people are loving it. It helping with cost of living. I actually find NZ and Australia are the same cost of living but Australia’s wages are more. Fruit and vege in NZ seem cheaper when I go home but fuel in NZ is more. We also pay one of the worlds highest tax and get taxed on everything so one would hope we get something out of it but I am sure for all the money they get out of us….it hardly touches the surface

Hey Karl, you've come a long way since you started speaking Hindi. One suggestion I would make is to focus on your vocabulary instead of grammar. From my experience, most Hindi speakers don't care for good grammar but want you to tell your story quickly. There are a ton of south Indians in Delhi who are able to communicate brilliantly despite butchering the grammar. For the time being, I would recommend you lose your hesitation of speaking perfectly and just saying your thing by switching to an English word whenever necessary.
