Sounds like we might be getting some music soon :) Hell yeah. If none of you have heard her Ukulele LOFI beat from a few years ago, it will make you're day or at least set the tone for your day and make it that much more special. So beautiful. The power of music. That song always makes my nose twitch, the very 1st emotional stage right before the lump in your throat or that knot in your chest when music just grabs you around the heart and soul and pulls you in. I have this song on my play list of songs I go to when I am feeling down and need to get my mind and grind right. Another great song to get you lifted is, Polly Resonance - Rooftop Ableton loop performance. I wonder if there is a video of JAde Wii playing the new Zelda game with commentary? There is no way Wii isn't a Nintendo reference.

Since being acquired by Soundwide, it’s clear that the investors’ focus is making as much money in the short term. Which is why they’ve been so crazy with the output of play series instruments and expansions. They did do a survey in december about what people want in a maschine 3.0 software and MK4, but i think it’s another year or two before we’ll see anything. Like you mentioned, they laid off a bunch of people and are focusing on making tons of money as fast as possible 💷. I’ve retired my MK3 till they’re a bit clearer about where NI is headed (also my MK3 is worn out and takes too much space on my desk with a keyboard). Till then, I’ve switched to an M Audio Oxygen Pro and simplified my workflow by only using Logic Pro. If NI release something like the MPC Key, then I’d gladly switch back.

Maschine mikro user here. Sold my Korg electribe for it because there was a usable workflow to my DAW (once you get the template set up to drag the midi to make the individual tracks) and been a pretty happy camper about it. I’m probably only using 20% of what it’s capable of but the flow works for me.

Thank you for posting this. Opens up the door for discourse. Unfortunate as it is: now I know I’m not alone with these feelings towards and about NI. I’ve written posts on FB forums for Maschine and NI that I’ve been a part of for years stating disappointments and such. Pretty much got mowed down by the army within said forums. Which is kinda tight like I respect the loyalty I guess but lol. It’s nothing but constructive to be having discussions about the not-so-great things you know? And I wouldn’t even waste my time if I didn’t care about it. Also. Pot of Greed coffee mug?? is that what I see lol

I'll always be a Maschinist because the workflow is perfect for "how" I work. I DO wish that NI would advertise a little harder on the hardware side. The only REAL thing I'd like to see from them is to invest in 1, a new Maschine Jam which would be the flagship controller for 2. a full blown DAW so that I don't have to go "outside" when dealing with vocals and things of that nature.

I remember thoroughly researching hardware controllers that facilitated sound design-centered music production, since I'm not a beatmaker at all (my main reference is Noisia) but desperately needed a workflow better than just a mouse. The Maschine series seemed to me like the best and most feature-packed choice, and I went for a new Mikro MK3 in 2020. There's been a couple of features that I missed from (ahem) my "FL Studio Learner Pack", such as recording automations for the _Start_ and _End_ dials of the Sampler/Audio plug-ins as opposed to being forced to render the audio and importing it into the project, but other than that, it feels great and the closest thing to regretion I've ever felt is not having the insignia model, but... well, _me no have that much money._ Something interesting too would be to have a two-piece magnetic lower end of the hypothetical MK4 so that you could horizontally swap the pads and the buttons, as I am left-handed, but that's asking for a lot. Great video! I've been a Maschine+ user since the day it came out. (or the day it came in the mail LOL) , I still use it as often as I can. I've used it so much that a pad has started to fail a little and the rec button has started to become a little weird. The communication from NI throughout the whole M+ run has been weird and slow. Though, there has been a lot of progress on the M+. It sucks. I wish they had a roadmap for it, and would communicate with us more. Though, it doesn't seem to be NI's fault in contrast with them being acquired and all. The reason why they went with limited hardware from what I understand, is to fit everything into the MK3 box (which I think is one hell of a job by NI). Though I've really started to notice CPU stuff when using a lot of time stretching.. besides that I've had no problems so far. Especially not with the new software updates. Despite its flaws I still use it more than I've ever used any other machine. The workflow is unbeatable!

I started with a maschine, moved to a daw, then got a live 2 recently on top of being happy in bitwig. The problem is that these machines don’t allow for expandable ram and vanilla are extremely limited. The biggest thing I admire about the live though is it actually has synthesizers built in which are very capable that don’t rely on snapshots or samples. Either way, in my opinion- If you find yourself in a groove box situation and you make all your stuff- Make music loops and develop a performance kit. Bass loops, melody loops, etc. bounce em out and assign them to the pads while playing your drums live. Transparent across any drum pad workflow ^^ and frees up resources. Unrelated but I may sell my gear in favor of mobile sound design technology. Making loops and drums in DRambo is a blast. Once you have your clips it’s a mere matter of arrangement which you can place in any software you like. Not talking about iPad Logic Pro either (boo subscriptions)

I just ordered a Maschine Plus. I'm late to that party but the MPC at the heart of my first dawless setup ain't working out, the worklow is clunky for mixing, selecting patterns and arranging. Using the wheel to scroll to my tracks is cumbersome. For house and techno the NI pattern / ideas / scene modes will work better, the pads are bigger and my TR8-S will cover gaps during load screens on the Maschine. Mixing is better with Machine, and it supports external USB for multiple outputs.

I feel like Akai has developed into the full fledged DAW space with MPC 2 software and made the standalones so you can record vocals, guitar and basses directly into the MPC. Not sure about the Maschine+ in that regard but the Maschine mk2 I had just did beats and stayed in the plug-in space, nicely though I might add. I hated the maschine workflow, i tried for like 3 years, and it just held me back. I cant stand that between the three screens (a third counting your laptop or pc) that they are tethered together and you cant see anything but the specific module you are working on. If you are editing a sample, you cant glance at your screen and determine where it fits in the track, you have to switch to the sequence, which then takes over your three screens. I couldnt get my head around it. I just went back to ableton and turned the machine kits into MPC kits .. Maschine just collects dust atm

Slight off and on topic. I personally love my Maschine Jam as dj controller and also general controller that works with DAW and other software such as Virtual Dj. However it does work best on Traktor finally. There was awhile when it was not working with Traktor at all and it just sat in a corner and seemed they were answering people and then somehow it began working correctly . So perhaps I would love Mashine if I enjoy Mashine Jam. But also greatly love the software as well. And yes so true such a vast selection of sound upon which to create.

the mk3 was my first big music purchase. Had it for about a year. I really enjoyed the workflow but found it difficult to integrate with other hardware. When I made the switch from logic to ableton it kinda got lost in the shuffle, and it finally got sold to fund my first elektron box. Love the elektron workflow, but i sure miss the MK3's pads. I WANT to like the MK3 so badly. Mine just collects dust; I occasionally pull it out to use as a very expensive generic midi controller/drum pad in Ableton. Truthfully I just can't stand the software. I personally find it quite limited, and like I'm constantly fighting against it to get what I want. I couldn't live without my Komplete Kontrol S49 keyboard, like it's really my bread and butter for my whole production style. If the MK3 could just be "unlocked" to work with the Komplete Kontrol software and the DAW outside of it in the same way that the S-Series keyboards do, I feel that would be the biggest boon it could ever get.

I had an MK1 , and upgraded to MK3 when the orange one came out and yeah, I got the Orange MK3. Hands down, I love it. I always include it as plugin mode to my DAW, as I just feel like nothing else can replace it for beats and samples on the fly; I do go solo on it many times, just for finger drumming or coming up with cool stuff. Saying that, the MK3+ seems like a nice alt for "dawless" setup or performance, but, Jade is right... nothing beats a good laptop and I honestly find Maschine better hooked up to my Mac than anything else. Convenience factor MK3+ is better, but if you dont mind hauling a computer or having the extra pc space, then MK3+ is redundant. I'd like to stick to MK3 orange, hopefully for a long time, we'll see, its still supported... maybe an upgrade mk4 will come out, see if they can entice me to move up...and you know what, MK1 still works surprisingly, I use it as a controller now, for BitWig.

Not sure about the entire company being dead, but for me, Maschine is thriving!! Why? Because I use it to craft ideas, perhaps 90% of the way. Then, I’ll move over to a DAW to finish. And most of the time I’m not using a daw at all. I’m an electrician by trade. When I was on the tools, I had more than one screwdriver, cable cutter and testing equipment to get a task completed. For me, I see Maschine the same way; It’s a just a tool amongst other software and hardware I have at my disposal, to get a job done. (And I prefer and have adopted the workflow since 2009 when I sold my MPC 2000XL & 4000) I agree to bugs in the software needing squashing, but for me Native Instruments or Maschine is not dead.

@@GarfRichards I'm with you man. It's like people are looking at Akai's rehashing or recycling of gear and feel like they are being left behind. I consider the Maschine MK3 to be a solid piece of gear still in 2023. Akai's just capitalizing on people with Gear Acquisition Syndrome. We don't need new gear every year man. There's a lot that can be done firmware wise.

I still love my plus, despite all those flaws.... if I could keep only one "music" thing , this would be it. I got a powerbank and a ripcord and I just jug it in my bag , go to the park and can start making music. Shure, it's limited compared to the daw, but it's for shure enough to sketch out the basic idea, which you can finish later on. And let's be honest, since the last few updates it's pretty stable, too Of course I also get, that people are disappointed, I'd also wish it would support more Komplete Instruments ( or If i could dream, nks ready plugins like diva) in standalone. But I think for my usecase its still 95% there and I'm happy using it as is

THANK YOU Jade for making this!! Native Instruments has been a dumpster fire for some time. Agreed about the library and the flow of the MK3 but I've been using Absynth for almost 20 years and they just decide to not only kill it but not allow any new activations of it if your legally purchased software activation gets borked (happened to me)??? So now I've got a ton of tracks that I used Absynth on that I can't even find out what patch I was using, let alone what it sounded like. Full disclosure, I got screwed by them when they did the same thing to Kore, which *was* a game changer. But hey, fool me twice, shame on me I guess.

I started out on Maschine, coming from """"real"""" instruments meant that Maschine was going to be best for me as I didn't know much about MIDI or DAWs back then. I still think it's one of the fastest methods of getting a song going. Yet all that said I avoid using it because the software is ALWAYS crashing on me, the CPU usage is insane, I really don't care for NIs updates and hated that I had to relearn a few things as I skipped over a bunch of updates. I'm always using Battery, Massive, Kontakt and various other Komplete plugins. But with Maschine I find it's too limited for advanced MIDI stuff, then also fails to do the basic stuff too (due to crashing). So I can't say I'm surprised NI are losing ground to Akai on this front.

This is what would make me come back to NI’s hardware, but I don’t see them doing it because it means less profit. Making musicians buy a Maschine AND a Komplete Kontrol keyboard makes them way more money than having a komplete kontrol keyboard with maschine or maschine pads built in like the MPC Key 61

The problem i have with native instruments was i knew when they did a stand alone the would mess it up and they did with no battery power...next they new to come out with different models all at the same time I bought a mk2 then later the studio came out and I refused to by another model though I wanted the studio and I knew if I bought the studio right after another would come which was the mk3..but the biggest let down is the high price and no battery power which is nuts

I'm a MPC-head, but I bought a purple MK3. Haven't used it yet because I use the MPC. Same thing with the FL producer edition that I got recently. LOL!! But on another note, NI is really genius when it comes to the kontakt player. The Orchestra libraries, etc... Really dope! But on a third note. Some of the kontakt libraries/files are really slow to load into kontakt. And like you say in the video, it fucks up my workflow.

I get what you're saying Jade but I feel like a lot of people have Gear Acquisition Syndrome. The Maschine is a solid piece of gear. Yes, the Maschine Plus needs an update but for the rest, as far as hardware goes, the MK3 and Mikro are solid pieces of gear. If any upgrades were to come to those, they would be minimal: maybe a touch screen here and an accessibility feature there. All fine. So, if the workflow is still great and the hardware is still good and gets the job done, then I understand NI for taking their time with releasing new gear. On the software side, NI has been on point. Look at all the expansion packs we got this year and the new instruments, come on man. NI is not dead to me. I love all the updates they've been rolling out on the software side and I'm hoping for more this year.

Thank you for this. This is what I have been telling people. Native Instruments have lost me because they are not updating the Maschine Plus. It is slow, there is not enough effects or instruments, the CPU gets ate up so fast. I wanted it to succeed. That is why I bought it. They dropped the ball.

How about a Studio update it has the size and screen size. To do touch screen, with your being touch no reason they can't. But the studio has the size to be a real stand alone unit. As powerful as a laptop. But a major upgrade for the studios wouldn't be bad either. What I don't like about machine is u can't do everything on the controller. And to me you should be able to. So a upgrade adding more internal control of the software into the controller would be great. The studio has the size to be a real stand alone system. But at what price, lol

MPC head here Mpc 2000xl, then maschine mk2, then Mpc one....... FACTS! Maschine has the workflow down to a science......BUT..... When I got the MK2, I had problems with MIDI bugs when working with external gear.....at that time, working with more than 3 midi channels would cause your system to freeze. Then the software would randomly crash (sometimes before I had the chance to save) ..... After all that, i was done.... i went back to AKAI. It wasn't as efficient, but I realized something messing with it. 1) the limited sound library on first release made me more creative. I tweaked sounds to my liking instead of spending lots of time digging through a massive (pun intended) library. 2) i really like the MPC One form factor... simple, powerful, and compact. 3) pretty rock solid OS..... It's gotten a heck of a lot better. AKAI keeps working..... I'm impressed. I've seen friends working on the standalone Maschine+ and it's like a religious experience. They hoped and prayed they could finish a project before it went down....😂😂😂😂 I love Maschine, but somewhere in the last 2 to 3 years, they went wrong....
