Did planning reform cost the Tories their seat in Chesham and Amersham?

Tories worry the loss of the Chesham and Amersham seat could be due to the PM's planning reforms.
Areas along the green belt fear government plans to automatically green light development projects without allowing local residents an opportunity to object.
Sky's Paul Kelso spoke with some residents in Chesham and Amersham to hear their concerns.

I used to live in a beautiful village in the Chilterns near Amersham where they are building the HS2. It was in an area of outstanding natural beauty and it was heartbreaking to see how they have decimated the countryside. I’m not in the least surprised that people are upset about these new planning laws.

Yes I think HS2 still had a big impact on this by election result as well as tactical voting going on ie labour voters switching to the lib dems on a mass scale in order to oust the conservative candidate.

I'm no Boris fan but these people just sound like NIMBYs and unfortunately those sought people don't help anyone. I understand why they think it will overwhelm services but more people will mean more police and doctors are recruited and new bussnesses will open up to service people. Simple supply and demand

They really ought to scrap this HS2 and calm down the mass building up of rural towns/villages. All of this is burdened by continuing immigration levels putting excessive pressure on the housing sector. As for Winchester I find it ridiculous. That free space is countryside. I went to university in Winchester and the constituency is unfortunately full of middle class guardianistas and people unable to accept that it’s a city and is going to be built on. That housing shown in the clip isn’t even that bad as it’s already in a massively built up suburb (Stanmore).
