PRs just released the NF53 which, at first glance, could be seen as their attempt at a Telecaster... but it has a few things that are clearly different from a Tele and we try to compare fairly in this video!

@@kingfisher7960 I think not, they're probably comparing it to the CE24 because its the cheapest USA non-S2, and is also bolt-on. CE24's are $300 less than the NF53, and I'd say that's still a little much considering this has LESS hardware than a CE24 (less frets, no trem)... I feel like $2199 would be a very palatable price for the NF53.

I think Paul has said when he first started making guitars he expected maybe 10-20% of guitars would be bird inlays. But it ended up being way more as people liked them. We did this to ourselves. We could have lived in a world where there weren't birds shitting on pretty much every PRS guitar. It would have been perfect. I hate birds.

Yea well I feel the opposite. The PRS tele offers something the other BAZILLION teles from Fender havent. This one comes from a reputable guitar company whereas Fender is not anymore. To make another sweeping statement and why these were made is the fact that MYSELF and many others will NOT purchase a guitar from The Big G or F because from 1970-2010 arguably both of them put out GARBADGE unless you spent over $5000 on a custom shop. PRS gave you that for that price and then brought in SE models that @ $1000 blow the G and F models out of the water. Facts.

As you said, it's a PRS, so, of course it's made well and sounds good. The question is, does it scratch an itch you have? IMO, it's just a nice "electric guitar". It has nothing to do with a Tele. For great Tele tones, get yourself something that's more true to the recipe. I've got a few Teles, but what really does it for my hands, ears, and eyes, is my G&L Fullerton Deluxe ASAT Classic. Hennihg, In this case, I have to insist that both you and Glenn are wrong! Of course the sound difference is not in the speaker here, but also the way you did the A/B test didn't show how the guitars contributed to the difference. The NF53 is louder than the vintage Tele. Pretty much, loud will initially sound better. Without adjusting the amp's volume and perhaps other controls, you have an unequal comparison. The NF53 doesn't twang. Turn up the volume while playing the vintage Tele, you'd get the rich twang it's known for. The Tele's sounds will shine when you don't have to strum the thing so violently to try to get over the volume difference. You should know this... you have a vintage Tele at home.

Personally I call bullshit on the reasoning behind a 3 piece body. As a luthier myself I can tell you it's noticeably cheaper to make a 3 piece body than a 1 piece or 2 piece. Considering the wood is well and truly dried out before building with it, the water content isn't relevant. Light swamp ash is more expensive than heavy swamp ash, so buy it in smaller pieces to keep costs in check. Paul makes great guitars but he justifies cost cutting in bullshit ways regularly. Just admit, we built it to a set cost to fit right in the commercial market

PRS made a guitar with a body like a Tele and stuck their ugly headstock on it. Nice try!

most cheap guitars have the scarf joint, so if I buy a premium instrument it better not have one... and I want a one-piece body.

@@StupidGuitar not a good comparison, that would be like all guitars having strings to what you said. However, a cheaper way to make something shouldn't be found on a high end instrument.

@@burrellinvestments5952 I mean your comparison was stupid so I countered with an equally stupid one. A scarf joint can also arguably be stronger. Gotta find some reason to hate on the guitar I guess… can’t just let it exist for what it is

@@StupidGuitar I don't think that it was stupid, a legit reason I'm not over paying for an instrument that corners have been cut on. I don't hate it. I just don't like it and I'm not gonna buy one. I'm having something custom build for $1,200 way better.
@StupidGuitar

@@burrellinvestments5952 lol if you think a $1200 custom build is the same. Also no way you’re paying fair labor cost and getting an American made guitar with quality parts for that cost. Thanks for proving your opinion null and void. I can’t even. Thanks for the laugh.

My question is why? PRS isn't making a tele here, it's just something else. Like a great movie and someone decides they can make a better version with a Part 2 and it flops at the theater. Some things should be left alone if you can't improve it, and this is one of those things! The Silver Sky and now this....Paul Reed Smith must be bored.. Nice video as always.

Seems like a great guitar but it’s too expensive compared to Fender. I will wait until the SE version is released.

Leo Fender turned in his grave, I think. Whatever this ugly looking and sounding guitar thinks, it is, it certainly is no Tele! Heavily overpriced for such a design- and sound-fail, at least for me. For so much money I easily get two USA Teles, not to speak of a lot of other possible options. PRS never had much affinity to Strats and Teles, so cobbler stick to your last! This obviously is not your territory!

Henning, I get the copy thing. But do you realize how many copies of 3 guitars are out there and how many people made a shape similar? Please get off the train. It has left the building in 1998 with Napster. We all know what that did for the music industry. PRS made a company with a strat shape in 1985 more or less. Hes stuck to that shape until 2010 when he brought out a LP copy. Can we not get over the wheel? Who invented it? Cause many people made round things the shape of a wheel. Get my point. Get off the train. Nobody cares in 2023. PRS WON the lawsuit with Gibson over the LP shape (Tremonti), FENDER WILL NOT SUE FOR A TELE SHAPE. EVEN FEDERAL COURTS DONT AGREE WITH YOU AND AT THE END OF THE DAY, THATS WHO MAKES THE RULES. Live with it!

At that price you would expect a guitar that is free from fault at least construction-wise. But this one has a huge bug! I never had a guitar that had three intonation points in a line. It is just not possible. With that kind of bridge you will never be in tune. How poor is that for a three and a half grands guitar? Shame on you, PRS! Better learn your business first before you ask a fortune.
