The Wydad situation is similar to the Kaizer Chiefs situation. These are big teams that are currently struggling, and its not easy to resuscitate such clubs. Its one thing to be a good coach that plays good football, and its another thing to be a coach that is able to turn things around. I think its a bit early in Rhulani's career for him to coach a struggling big club.

@@DesignThinkingWithLungile I totally agree.... I just hope this doesn't dent his profile because he's talented. But you're right.... This might be a different type of challenge altogether and Wydad need something quick to believe. Even at Sundowns, I never felt Rhulani had it in him to take the team over the line in the CCL because he was rigid about style yet those competitions or situations need the flexibility to play ugly and get the trophy
@DesignThinkingWithLungile

@@buyanifakudze3489 100%. I also once mentioned the point you are raising about Rhulani being inflexible when it comes to style of play, and Sundowns fans attacked me. Transforming big struggling teams is more about changing the existing culture that caused the decline and requires maturity/experience. Unfortunately, I don't see him lasting long there.

@@DesignThinkingWithLungile the fans who attacked you were showing double standards because they defended the rigid style but got frustrated when Sundowns were losing cup finals and not progressing in the CCL. In a big team, only trophies count...the style is an added bonus.

Rulani went from coaching a Ballon dor nominee goalkeeper to a goalkeeper that constantly makes errors and costs the team 3 points. He also has a illdisciplined defence which collects red cards and cannot protect leads. Rulani needs to fix his defence because wydad already scores a lot of goals.

Very interesting episode. Rhulani Mokoena, Morena Ramoreboli and Fadlu Davids are coming along nicely and to me, they have a good chance of achieving great things like Pitso Mosimane. Thabo Senong has somewhat gotten off the boil but he's also a coaching talent. SA has a lot to offer African football and for that alone I hope Rhulani does well. The Wydad job was tricky because it's a big team that's struggling so yaaa....its tough and I see why Coach Pitso always says style of play is important but the situation demands just results sometimes. The danger of these Pep disciples is that we forget that Pep never takes difficult jobs, ever! So as we copy him we need to be cognisant of the differences...a Wydad or a Chiefs would choose results and cups over nice build ups. Can Rhulani adapt to that? We'll see... But honestly I hope he does well and opens doors for other young coaches...
@Sihawukelwe
@Sihawukelwe 26 күн бұрын
What do you mean by saying Pep never took a difficult job? According to your coaching, Barca, Bayern, and Man City isn't difficult? Which dictionary are you using?
@buyanifakudze3489
@buyanifakudze3489 25 күн бұрын
@Sihawukelwe I'm not sure what a dictionary has to do with this but here's what I meant.. The three were league winning teams with experienced players who were still competitive enough to win again. After the left both Bayern and Barca, they continued to win and when he joined City, they had won titles under Pellegrini and Mancini. Pep hasn't joined a team like Arsenal or Chelsea yet where there's been a long trophy draught, there's a new squad being built and fans are tense and impatient. Rhulani on the other hand has taken on Chippa, Pirates and now Wydad...all with the challenges I've mentioned. So my use of the term "easy" is mainly from the perspective of having a solid, experienced winning team versus building one. Not to say Pep doesn't do anything but I think you'll agree that Miguel Cardoso has an easier task than Nasreddine Nabi....

@@professorique9762 my heart is still sore about that. Rhulani never rammed the wild horse, he enjoyed the ride on the well trained stallion. Sundowns was already strong enough to function even without a coach, remember what he did at Pirates? He is not a strategist, he is a caretaker….i said it that he will be exposed when he left, but let’s not cut each other’s throat on a matter than has nothing to do with us

Nah u ryt but also wrong.. u make it seem like Rhulani went around campaigning for support and hyped himself... but actually what put Rhulani in the spotlight is his winning record at Sundowns. Any coach who wins like that is bound to be followed by high expectations and hype every else he goes. Reviero has no hype coz we didn't know him and he didn't break any records where he came from. U cant compare Rhulani to even the Al Ahly coach for the similar reasons

Rulani is either delusional or overconfident. He is so out of touch with reality. I was so happy when he left my team last season. I was interestedin seeing him from far on how he behaves.If he was serious or its his nature to fool or bluff people who love amd support him let alone those who give opportunity to coach their team He'd call us betway fans and forever mentions that he is from the great Jomo Sono family.When he is not delivering results he'd use his age as an excuse or that Sundowns fans are not appreciating him😭✋🏾 When things are right are working right he'd say things like he he dont sleep or he used tactics from his friends from Europe coz no one knows tactics in SA or even how to counter low blocks 😭😭🤣 When he was speaking on a presser its always sounded like he was laughing inside. Laughing that we are actually believing the things he says😂😂coz for him he just liked listening to the sound of his voice and mimicking pep😭😭😭
