I think the police charged the wrong man for these murders. In the mean time the real murderer is roaming around, could even be dead. The police even got the wrong boat that was supposed to have had Olivia and Ben on it.

I believe Scott Watson has never admitted to this murderous act.

this case was a disaster from the onset . Rob Pope had earlier been publicly humiliated in a earlier case that involved a lady called Victoria Calder. Pope alleged Calder had poisoned her then partner David Lloyd , a professor from one of the universities in Christchurch . . Calder was university educated and a clean skin when it came to convictions. Calder also had one of NZ's best lawyers in Judith Ablett Kerr KC to defend her. after 2 trials Calder was acquitted . I believe this case was the catalyst and set in motion what was to happen next . the next 2 cases for Pope involved Scott Watson and Timothy Taylor . both had form in the shape of criminal convictions making them both easy targets . Taylor is the more badder of the 2 as he has a conviction for rape .I am most certianly not trying to candy coat Taylor.. on the other hand Watson is what many describe as a petty criminal . Had there been no convictions in both trials questions would have rightfully been raised about Pope and his ability to investigate serious crime or wear a police uniform at all . More importantly questions of who appointed him to this position . I have always beleived the Calder case was the catalyst for Pope's next 2 cases and set in motion what happened to both Watson and Taylor . Watson and Taylor were merely collateral damage for people like Pope and Fitzgerald to further their careers. Empathy , fair play, insight and the search for truth and justice were far from the minds of Pope and Fitzgerald when it came to their own career interests. People like Pope hide behind the argument that if you are convicted in court thats it, your guilty . That is so far from reality . we have cases like Arthur Alan Thomas who was twice convicted of murder only later to be pardoned .Pope chose not to listen to many people that talked about a 2 masted ketch as it contradicted what he wanted for his career . It is frighetning that people like Pope,and the notorious bent kiwi copper John Hughes are allowed to act carte blanche make up whaetver they like , say whatever they like and not be held accountable . If they can do this to Watson , Taylor, Thomas and Tamihere they can do it to anyone's son , daughter, brother, sister , husband or wife . The truth , fair play and justice and the laws of society should always be held above the percieved reputations of people like Pope, Hughes , or lawyers and legal people that make their careers on cases like this
