Gerasimov has no way to be called “Verkhovny” as it’s translated not “top guy” but “Supreme” and he has nothing like that in any of his titles. I am from the Baltics and even though i was a child i still remember when soviet union suddenly collapsed. We listened to the radio and just could not believe it. The day before even it seemed utterly impossible that this behemoth could just collapse like that and so quickly. There is a misconception about the reality of collapsing Soviet Union. First, the Union went bankrupt due to huge corruption and stealing government money, introduced by Breshnew, spread by the years all over and tickling down.Gorbatshev realized that this is a devastating threat, together with diminishing revenues of oil sales and bleeded out all other Warshaw Pact countries by Russia. But then the top corrupted officials had a plan to end up Gorbatshevs Perestroika and Glasnost just by ending Soviet Union, so they may carry on their stealing.

@@hasselnttper3730: Yeltsin really needed a lot of help from the West (particularly from the US) to put Russia on the right path. For example, the US could have provided millions of daily food rations to keep the Soviet population fed until they got their new commercial economy running, and money to keep the education and medical systems running. The Western European countries should have helped with organising local government and anti-corruption measures. Without help, it was perhaps inevitable that Russia would become as corrupt as South Africa and fall back into authoritarianism.

In fact he proposed to create "stavka", the commander in chief's war room, like ones that were created during existential wars of the past, but since the word was following the "a" sound of the previous word "nuzhna stavka verkhovnogo" (war room of Supreme commander in chief is needed) it could be misheard as "nuzhna otstavka verkhovnogo" (resignation of Supreme commander in chief is needed). "Verkhovnogo" (supreme's) is the short for supreme commander in chief, first word of the name of the job. This word shows exactly that no other than the president is addressed. Anyways, it's meaningless casual propaganda by itself, but what's relevant is that people got triggered by alternative intepretation, this is peculiar.

I recognize that waterfall is DESIGNED to elicit just such a response; you either spend way more energy responding to each untruth individually than the purveyor of untruth did (while giving each untruth if not credibility, at least oxygen by responding to it at all AND ceding the narrative), or you shut down and the purveyor of untruth gets the last word. I watched Nebenzya do this during his riposte at yesterday's meeting of the UN Security Council, and I watched myself respond in my usual way. I understand Russian and I could have made that mistake tbh. Solovyov calls Putin "Верховный главнокомандующий" (Supreme Commander-in-Chief), which is so long it's natural that when he just says "Верховный" ("top guy" is correct but you're using a different word for what you previously translated as "Supreme") one would assume it's a shorthand for that.

Hierarchies and movements, particularly those characterized by unquestionable leadership and rigid dogma, tend to collapse in a manner reminiscent of sinking ships, where the lower compartments fill with water first, followed by the middle decks, ultimately resulting in the upper levels being submerged in a dramatic and catastrophic plunge. In this analogy, the lower ranks are swiftly blamed and sacrificed for the cause; next, the middle ranks are disavowed; and finally, when those at the top exhaust their supply of scapegoats, the leader is overthrown and held accountable for the failures. The fact that blame might has now reached Gerasimov's level is a promising indication. It suggests that there may be no subordinates left beneath him to take the fall. The defense minister, Shoigu, has already been relieved from the bridge. This leaves Gerasimov as one of the last figures standing before calls intensify for Putin, the captain of this ill-fated war, to go down with his ship. It will be interesting to see which of the rats, such as Simonyan and Solovyov, will try to jump ship first.

I have to think about the movie "Trainspotting" and the scene in the highlands where Ewan´s character is screaming out loudly about the English and the Scottish relationship. Something tells me, that it isn´t very nice to tell the truth, but it is a great relief. It is Ukraine's war in the first place. If we really wanted to, the war would be over in a few days and Russia would end being the mental illness that affecs mostly people of northern Asia, but also some in the west. It really doesn´t matter, what kind of coffee one drinks, but how he or she can make his relatives and comrades think that might have been poisioned by Kremlin propaganda and tell them to do the right thing at the ballot box to support Ukraine. It doesn´t matter at all, what you write here or there. There is no moral obligation. The opposite is true. If everybody would post their favourite coffee recipe under the right podcasts, it gets promoted. The more words you write, the better. Nobody cares, what one viewer thinks and no creator should care what their viewers think or write alltogether. There is a big difference between a podcast creator and a personal mentor, but it doesn´t matter what I say, do or make of it to anyone but myself. KZbin is responsible for NOT letting Ukraine win, by ignoring and choosing not to have automatic AI translation. Gems like Vlad need be heard and understood in every language. "Our" war is to make presence in the sphere of a private organisation, that happens to have the world at its guts. If Google chooses to go evil, there is nothing that can replace it, or save us from it. Power corrupts. Totat power corrupts totally. You cannot win any wars by choosing to be a youtube creator. One must become its destroyer. Ukraine has its war today. We have ours tomorrow. Prepare for it, having the Frappochino you like today, because it could be your last one anyhow. If Russia spreads around some more like the virus that it is, it doesn´t matter what kills you. Could be the FSB. Could be climate change, or being eaten by polar bears. It simply isn´t important anymore. Russia must be exterminated and ruled out. Ukraine is fighting for its freedom. They don´t care, what we have after the Kremlin Agents went home or go somewhere else in their malefic enterprises around the world. You are not save so or so. Thank you. Just enjoying my coffee here. Ukrainians and people on the ground in Ukraine give nothing for what we think is a moral obligation. They survive barely and if they do they will remember, who has helped them not to win. Nobody here can say he helped Ukraine to win, because it simply hasn´t won yet. Until then any conversation about the winning part is futile. We need to demand better internet, better politics and better Frappochinos, for f--- sake! We can demand these things because we are in the West, because we had won against evil in the past and even Russia was helping with that. Russia is a mental illness. You cannot win by dropping bombs on it only. KZbin has the ways and means to win the war that is fought in the heads of our opponents. Becoming a you-tube creator is part of the Russian game, that makes people ignorant and stupid. When creators think they are important and my Frappochino isn´t, I know I have to remind everybody to better not mess with Walther, when he enjoys his cofffe. I could go on like that forever... maybe I should become a youtube creator... and tell everybody how to celebrate their coffee time.

Hello Vlad. A striped shirt? You'll start a fashion trend! Thank you for this message. I try to have a very varied selection of news sources so I am not caught in a trap/echo chamber. I am watching the American election. I am watching what is happening in South America. Same with Africa and Asia etc. The problem, I feel, with statements coming out of Russia is that their are layers to the language that is so often used. Most political speech is seldom absolutely straightforward if it is via a government source. This applies double to the Kremlin.

Nuances of language. I was on a Russian train once (In Hungary!) And the sign said either that it was forbidden to use the toilet in the station, or that it was impossible. I suspect that the meanings were intended to be synonymous. Hearing Putin referred to as "Supreme Leader" is telling.

cheers Vlad. yeah it was funny to watch this news on 'the enforcer' channel today. they, and most of their audience were convinced it was about putin and said that Solovyov's definitely going to die. in the same episode, they were harping on about the USA and anyone else not wanting to immediately intervene in russia's excursions and shots fired near norway, saying that they've got no spine etc. ironically this guy claims to have tried getting into the army but couldn't due to scoliosis. i know you want us to not be mean and i know that i'm only aware of my own ignorance but I've noticed that this label of 'conservative' is so deceptive. they're often really hot-headed and trigger-happy, ultimately. it's like people who bottle things up then explode eventually. this guy wants to be president of the USA in 2040. anyway, back to the topic at hand, Solovyov usually refers to putin by his full name, including middle name. and on that same show, when panelists refer to putin without using his name, they often use the word 'supreme'. as a thought experiment, let's say that putin (or one of his doubles - whoever is currently the president) is merely a puppet of the russian deep state (a decoy/branch/face of the 'vertical of power' to emit the illusion of strength and continuity). wouldn't then Solovyov be like THE guy? like the real director of russia? he's basically given free-reign verbally and almost full artistic licence. and it's almost as if he's so confident that he 'kicks freestyle'. Let's just say that Solovyov WAS referring to putin, possibly in a deliberately ambiguous way to maintain plausible deniability and convey to putin, 'just trust me on this one'. I got the impression that he's trying to curb his outrage at the fact that russia is under invasion and getting bombed in all the wrong places, so he's trying to scare the West, who he sees as no longer scared of putin. And that's why he's conveying, 'how about we put someone in power who's not so diplomatic, patient and relatively restrained?' and that we should 'quickly replace the top brass with someone who won't hesitate to use the nukes'. more threats, basically. because if the west isn't scared of putin and his 'non-existent red lines' and there's a vertical of power and a situation where everyone else in russia is scared of putin, then this directly implies that every russian other than putin is even less scary/potent/intimidating, including the big-talking Solovyov. He must really hate that. as soon as the paper tiger at the top is discredited and humiliated, the same applies to everything beneath it to a greater degree. if you look at all the dictators around the world these days, they all seem fairly aloof, calm and distinguished however if you look at the historical stereotypes/archetypes of the same, in popular culture, movies or cartoons, you'll see a character such as Solovyov. He certainly looks and sounds the part. He could simply be the 'bad cop' who gets extra licence that comes with the turf. He does put in a lot of work. Like venomous creatures that have bright colours to warn and ward-off predators, Solovyov probably provides quite a defensive buffer for putin. He might also be getting brave, with putin getting older and weaker, plus new polls apparently claiming that 50% of russians wanting to withdraw from Ukraine. Another thing is that the big hullabaloo about long-range missile use permissions could be used as a great distraction and decoy. there doesn't even need to be the intention to actually use them on ukraine's part. ukraine simply has to keep doing what they're doing without the bigger guns and it's all legitimate. russia, by focussing on the 'big missile' issue, and issuing threats about it, are essentially consenting to everything else 'below' the use of long range US and UK missiles. That is, they have no excuse if they lose a war in which the big guns aren't used. it's a proper, 'legit' loss and humiliation and the only escalation can come from THEM, at which point ukraine will most likely be given the green light. Solovyov's wife is much better at masking and putting on the fake smiles and arrogance in the face of such a predicament, even as all the secrets and secret connections become exposed. Solovyov seems to be getting closer to tripping up. If he doesn't have as much power as he seems to have, he could very well end up in a situation where his life IS endangered because 'perception is 99% of reality as they say' and even if he doesn't refer to putin during such tirades as this, if the West believes he is doing so and the russians are unable to read between the lines, then the end result is almost the same: people think putin has been disrespected. and therefore, he kinda has been. because at the end of the day, 'public disrespect' has severe consequences mainly due to the 'public' nature of it. the greater the number of people who believe 'sol' was referring to 'poot', the more of a fuss is generated and attention is paid to it and therefore the more embarrassment and awkward attention arises for those at the centre of it all. chaos is visiting 'stable and ordered' russia now. topsy-turvy opposite land, instead of being generated behind the scenes and projected outwardly, is now merging with and manifesting in russian physical reality. the infighting can't be suppressed for much longer. I believe it's started in russian telegram channels. can the words of propagandists keep the beast tame and suppress underlying dragons and demons or will they continue to dig a hole that only something like a helicopter crash can solve by quickly bringing us back to the regular schedule? if you read this, thanks. be gentle. i'm just an ignant rapper.
